Fabulous site - can’t beat it.

Just home from Wharfdale. This is an excellent site, well laid out with a first class toilet block. The site is well looked after and very clean and tidy. All the staff we dealt with/met were extremely friendly and helpful and certainly a merit to the Caravan and Motorhome Club. The dog walk is great but can’t believe that some people still don’t clean up after their dogs, if everyone obeyed the rules about cleaning up after dogs and kept them on leads it would be better for all - but this is the same wherever you go and in no way a criticism of the site/staff. If you want a meal out without driving, there is the Gamekeepers Inn near the site or a little longer walk and you have the Old Hall Inn in Threshfield. Alternatively you can walk on into the beautiful village of Grassington. The site is great for peace and quiet and the on site shop stocks a few of the essentials, There is also a fabulous Spar Shop at Threshfield Garage that has a good selection of local foods including butchers and bakery sections. This was our 2nd time here and definitely it won’t be our last.

First Trip

Just returned from my first visit to this site, and was really impressed. The site is very well maintained, the wardens were businesslike but helpful, that’s fine. The facilities were very clean whatever time of the day. Local area is great, and the Gamekeeper’s inn was excellent, about 10 to 15 mins walk from the site. Grassington is a lovely place to visit and well within walking distance. I’m new to this motorhoming but really enjoy it. Is it the done thing for dog owners to let their dogs pee on their pitches or say one metre from yours? It really didn’t seem right to me but witnessed 3 different owners allowing this. I’m guessing that they don’t want to take their dogs to the walking area in the rain. All in all I would visit again, it’s an excellent site.

New pitch

Arriving at our favourite site we were made aware that spaces on “ millionaires row “ were available, having never pitcher there we decided to give it a go , the pitch at the very end nearest to the trees was free so proceed to pitch with the guidance of the steward the area seemed a little pinched but as out neighbors were out it was hard to judge . The sun was out and we were on a break . Close to the dog walk we popped them out and returned to our neighbor having parked his car very close to our awning , ok , later bumped into him and I apologised for not leaving him room but we were put exactly there . He apologised as when he had tried to put his car the other side previously he was told to move it knowing it was tight , so note to self , don’t go at the end ......... also discovered because of the ridiculous height of the trees you are in the shade from 5pm where your neighbors are enjoying evening drinks in the sun till 8 at least .....note to self .. don’t go on the end and I couldn’t believe how many dog walkers use the opposite grass area to let their dogs foul , they use the top row as a cut through to the dog area I assume but just allow them to do it there . Opening my blinds one morning I saw 3 different people with a variety of dogs using the grass bank as a dog toilet ! ok so it was picked up as I didn’t see any left but I’m sure they wouldn’t like it if they were pitched there . Maybe a sign asking for dog owners not to let their dogs foul there but to continue to the dog walk . On an up side fantastic watching the rabbits ( when not being chased off by the visiting dogs ) smaller pitches but easier to peg out as softer so “ millionaire row “ don’t think so . Spotless as always but still no dog wash!!!

Stunning location

Booked for 2 nights, stayed for 3 as it was so peaceful and the weather was good to us. There were only two staff on last weekend and they couldn’t have been friendlier, chatting to customers, helping with problems, a real asset to the site. Can’t understand the comments about it looking like a car park - not been on any car parks like this before. Ideal for walking the dog, whether up the hill at the back to the old quarry, a stroll down the lane to the duck pond, or round the northern perimeter of the site. It’s a short walk through the private statics site to the Gamekeepers Inn for a drink or food, and dogs are allowed in the bar, or at the 3/4 tables at the entrance to the conservatory restaurant. Others have mentioned the Spa shop at Threshfield and it’s very handy, not to mention a bit of a Tardis. The butchers counter is a real attraction and my husband (a bit of a connoisseur of pork pies) really rated the pork pie with cheese and pickle.

Absolutely fantastic holiday!

This site is just lovely. Toilet shower facilities are spot on, staff friendly, super quiet, superb walks in every direction, excellent location for beautiful countryside and nearby attractions. Wildlife everywhere, nearby pubs. We spent 8 days here and could have easily stayed longer!

Excellent in almost all respects.........

On site at the start of July. Wardens could not be more friendly / helpful, and the site was kept beautifully. Yes, we agree that the layout is a little ' bland ', and possibly a little more landscaping would break things up, but that is not the fault of the wardens. Having read other reviews, I would also concur that people on site ( and not just this site ) are ignoring the speed rules - again nothing to do with the wardens. WHY do people have to break the rules - it may be their child that gets knocked down. As far as dogs are concerned, the rules say ' kept on a lead'. If you allow your dog off the lead you SHOULD expect a visit from the wardens. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE RULES, DON'T JOIN THE CLUB. Having said my piece, I would not hesitate to recommend this site. The current team of wardens keep the site in pristine condition and there is plenty to see / do nearby. Moors are within an easy drive as is Skipton. Grassington is a lovely village and well worth a visit, as are Malham and Settle. Shopping and fuel available at the local Spar, with Tesco and Morrisons in Skipton ( 10 miles ) Thanks to the wardens for a very pleasant stay

Great location excellent staff

Stayed here for 4 night all the staff were excellent very efficient and very friendly. The site is immaculate from the pitch areas to the facilities with everything clearly laid out and easy to use. We walked in the local area from the site visiting Linton Falls, Grassington and Linton for a nice pint and meal in the fountain Inn. There is a Spar shop very near the site and I must say its the best Spar shop I've been in with a excellent fresh meat counter, fresh cakes, fruit and veg and you name it its got it. We got the bus just at the entrance to the site to Skipton Market and had a lovely day there. All in all a excellent stay

Excellent in most respects...

The good: Immaculately maintained by attentive wardens, generally peaceful and perfectly situated for exploring the Yorkshire Dales; The bad: a somewhat soulless site, rather car-park-like in regimented layout; The ugly: The number of drivers for whom “5mph” is an unknown concept... all the more disappointing in that pretty much the warden’s opening words upon arrival is a reminder of the site speed limit. Maybe Club Site visitors have short term memory issues as so many seem to treat the site as a racetrack... when they’re on hand to observe such actions the wardens do remind offending drivers that they’re not on a Grands Prix circuit but clearly the wardens are not on site as traffic officers. Regrettably Wharfedale Club Site is by no means exceptional in this regard; we have previously experienced exactly the same ignorant and/or irresponsible attitude to speeding at Park Coppice, Coniston - it’s something I’ve yet to see on a Club CL or on a Centre Rally so perhaps (although seemingly unlikely) the perpetrators are not Club members. So, great location, lovingly maintained, shame about the driving standards of a minority of visitors.

Fallen in love with the Dales.

Superb location, site expertly run and very friendly. Facilities are immaculate every day. The site lacks a little character, on site it feels a little bit like a caravan storage facility with lots of gravel and concrete which is completely out of place in this beautiful location. The wardens do their best to add character but it’s just the layout and number of pitches squished in. The wardens also seem to be fighting a losing battle with people driving well above the 5mph speed limit. We were advised by the team of the speed limit on arrival so not sure why people still feel the need to use the site as a race track. Many of the pitches are very close to the road on site so if you have small children I would be very wary.
