What a great site!

I booked this site very last minute as I was unable to find a hotel whilst I volunteered at the Commonwealth Games. I was based in Royal Leamington Spa which is 10 minutes drive from this site. I received a warm welcome from Kath and Roy who went above and beyond to make me feel safe whilst I solo camped. Facilities are spotless and although Kath and Roy have to secure the external gates from 8pm, access is always possible in and out of the site. Do not arrive prior to 1pm, however, if you do, you can wait on a car park at the entrance. I will be back as I want to explore Warwick and RLS.

Perfect for us.

We were having a mini tour of surrounding area so this site was perfect for our tour. Upon arrival we were met by both Kath and Roy who were more than helpful with our check in and explained all we needed to know, we had booked a standard pitch and chose pitch 17, yes the pebble base can be soft but we got the van level by mounding up some of the pebbles as I forgot my levelling ramp whilst Roy was doing his rounds he noticed this and said he could have let me a have a levelling ramp for our stay which I found very kind of him. We were booked in for 3 nights but extended our stay due to enjoying it so much unfortunately we could only get a non awning pitch explained this to them and they said no problem they told us which pitches would be available the following day and we could choose which ever we wanted. Yes some of the pitches are a bit uneven levelling ramps are an advantage but are the club restricted with what they can do due to it being on the Racecourse?. Toilet block maybe small but they are clean and probably the most powerful showers we have ever used, it is a shame that when they are being cleaned there is no service toilet or anything but we were told that one had been requested, only one pot wash sink may mean you have to but no hardship for us. The site is perfectly situated for the town which offers all you could need for a stay, pubs restaurant's coffee shops and supermarket. Well worth a visit is Hatton locks about a 1.5 hr walk from the site or a 10 min car journey with parking £3 all day. Some of the previous reviews make this sound like a site to avoid but we found Kath and Roy more than helpful, site rules are place to make sure everyone is safe and have an enjoyable stay. Would recommend and will return if in the area again. Thanks to Kath and Roy for the hard work they do running this site on their own. 👍

Great Location very tired site.

We stayed here for 4 nights in late July. Just a 10 minute walk into Warwick, with lots of coffee shops, bars and restaurants. Lovely village. Sainsbury supermarket in walking distance from site. We got the number 1 bus into Leamington Spa £9 for 2 adults day return. X18 bus to Stratford runs frequently. Site desperately needs updating. Road is very very rough round site. The hard standing pitches have gravel which when you pull onto you sink in the large stones. Levelling blocks needed. Only one washing up sink for 56 pitches, constant queues waiting in that area. I could not believe only 3 showers and 2 basins with curtains (ladies). For the 4 nights we stayed I queued every time for a shower or wash basin. If your at the back of the site from pitches 17-12 it is a long walk to get water and empty chemical waste, which you have to carry as you cannot pull on the very rough road surface as it will damage you toilet cassette. Also you will hear people walking behind these pitches walking dogs, having conversations. We was woken at 7.05am one morning with a lady shouting very loud to her dog “lucky come here” several times.

Great stay at a great site

Perfect location, perfect hosts, great pitches, lots to do in the area and in Warwick itself. Love the showers and you can actually control the temperature! What more can I say! Stayed on Pitch 32, grass with Awning between 12-16th July 2022. Stayed on non-race days, so can’t comment on how different the stay would be but would expect a great atmosphere in the centre of the course, will definitely be coming back for race days.

Part nice site, part car park

This was our first visit to Warwick Racecourse site, so didn’t know what to expect. The greeting from the wardens was very friendly and helpful, and were not at all obtrusive during our stay. The site is quite small, with just over half the pitches on a hard standing or grass, and the others on a tarmac area near the racecourse rail. Call me old fashioned, but being on a large tarmac area it is not my idea of going away for a relaxing break. It didn’t help that it was also the hottest weekend so far, so the heat radiated up from the tarmac making it unbearable during the day and evening. A top tip is before you arrive, check if there is anything on at the racecourse. When we got here there was a Thai celebration of culture, with extremely loud music that would have given Glasto a run for its money! It did finish early evening but it would have been good to know if it was on and make arrangements to be out during the day. Didn’t try any pubs or restaurants in Warwick, but we walk up past the 21 Hatton locks on the Great Union Canal and stopped for brunch at a great cafe at the top lock. Warwick Castle is well worth a visit using the club discount when pre booking. If you do go make sure you make time for the falconry show, it’s superb. I would use this site again as a halfway stop if I was going to somewhere else, or for sure if coming racing

Good campsite but spoiled by carpark pitches

This campsite is in a great location and only 10 minute walk from Warwick Town centre and the castle. However, our weekend away was spoilt by 2 things. 1. VERY loud event at the race course that went on way past closing hours. We understand this is out of the sites control however we wish we would have been informed by the site who knew of the event as this was like being at a pop concert, all day!! 2. Our pitch location seemed to be in a carpark. We booked without awning as we were only there 2 nights. There are some secluded beautiful pitches on grass and in the trees but there seemed to be about 10 of us in a tarmac carpark, right next to the racecourse public footpath. There was no privacy and it felt insecure as anyone could come in from the public footpath and could see in your vehicle. It didnt feel like you could relax. Would be so easy to install a barrier and make people feel safer but this tarmac area really is awful. We would return to the site as the location and town are great and facilities clean but our advice is book an awning pitch, even if you don't need it so you get the nice secluded pitches and not the carpark!

Amazing Site

3 nights on this site but we wished we had booked for longer. The location is superb. Less than 10 minutes to Warwick centre where there are plenty of bars and restaurants and the same to the castle. In the middle of the racecourse is a 9 hole golf course with a club house where you can relax and have a drink with lovely views. The site managers, Kath and Roy, are so helpful and go above and beyond to make sure your stay is everything you want it to be. We put our awning up on the wrong side (our fault) but Kath helped us to turn it round without having to take it all down without it even being a problem . All this while seeing to other clients arriving. I had a major problem with my knee and if it wasn’t for Kath and Roy i would not have been able to get about as Kath kindly lent me her walking sticks and constantly made sure I was okay. The site is absolutely immaculate and all the facilities are in the one block. We could not recommend this site and the site managers highly enough and will definitely return . Thank you Kath and Roy.

A Favourate Site

This has to be one of our favourate sites, it is so convenient for the town yet seems in the country and a bonus if you happen to be there on race day. The wardens our the nicest couple and look after you very very well. I have to disagree a bit with the previous reviewer about the rules but understand his comments. The pitch pegs our now placed towards the left edge of the pitch, this is something I have personally been asking for from the club in the last year or so. The pegs now allows a Motorhome (as well as a caravan) to take full use of the pitch because this leaves a large area to erect a drive away awning, where as before it would encroach over the allotted pitch and you would or could be asked to take it down. I have friends that had given up using the club sites because they were asked to take down their awning, This was a daft situation because there was always a strip of land the other side of the Motorhome that was not useable, well done Warwick and Hawes (who are doing the same thing). Now I do understand that those Motorhomes with the continental design (doors on the drivers side) will have to park nose in, sometimes if its a hedge then the view maybe restricted but that's not always the case and the same applies to them in that they have a very large area to erect an awning or spread out should they wish, we used to have a continental style Motorhome but in the end had no intention of travelling abroad (which after all is what it is designed for) so changed it. Anyway I guess you cant please all the people all the time but its a thumbs up for me and a big thank you to the wardens who have applied it.

Convenient site, but too many “rules”

Friendly wardens, hampered by far too rigid rules about how to park. Had to go nose in, so my view was a hedge for a week. Friend had rear lounge, so her view was the hedge as well. Need to rethink this rule, as many continental vans now. Facilities spotless, but too few for the number of pitches. There needs to be safety handrails in each cubicle - available in only one. Need to have seats in shower, as difficult to get dressed in shower with very wet floor. I was lucky to have a nice pitch, but some others were not so great, tarmac or gravel. Only two taps, so quite a walk to fill up. Usually many more at Caravan Club sites. This being said, it’s a very nice site, near good dog walking and near to town.
