Disappointed

Not a good site. Wardens not helpful and like staying on a car park. It was a two night stop on a longer trip, but wouldn’t use it again. I’d thought of stopping again on my way home, but decided against it and stopped elsewhere. Hopefully next year will have more friendly and helpful wardens.

Final Visit to Warwick

Just returned from our final visit to this site We have decided the CMC no longer offers value for money, the new booking system is a nightmare and the rules and wardens on site are so inflexible it is no longer the club for us We decided to go to our favourite site one more time before our membership ends in November, I tried to ring the site to book but just got a recorded message saying book online. As we were at home I went online and booked the pitch and paid in full for it which was fairly easy but if we were touring and wanted to do it I would not be happy doing it on my mobile phone I do not think it is an improvement When we arrived just after 13.00hrs we were behind about 10 other vans but the warden was outside and as we had pre booked and paid we did not have to go into reception, we chose our pitch filled up with water and I went back to tell the warden which pitch we were on The facilities are very old and dated but they are kept clean as you would expect The price is not good value for money we paid £23.30 which has gone up by £4.00 from last year, I know the cost of electricity has risen and the club has raised its prices due to this but if we had gone the previous week during half term the coste was £33.00 per night! The wardens were OK but speaking to others on site they had problems, one couple could not get a tv signal on their pitch and when they asked if they could move they were told only onto another pitch as booked (grass awning) if they wanted to swap pitch type they would have to re-book and pay again! This was ridiculous as by Wednesday the site was nearly empty .Another couple arrived on Wednesday but had not booked, they got a telling off from the warden and told they must pre-book on line. This is not what the club should be about it should be a touring club so you can turn up and if there is availability you can stay On our departure day the warden was round chasing us offf site as she was closing the gates to stop anyone arriving early. I get the club has changed arrival times but I do not understand the new way of the wardens enforcing the rules like a miltary exercise, when we joined the club ten years ago wardens were friendly and could make their own decisions on making your stay better but it seems this is no longer the case they just have a pre set rule book which is no longer customer friendly Such a shame but as they have got so many members I am sure we will not be missed

Needs updating

The wardens were fine, and yes there are rules but alot of these are imposed by the Racecourse, its a shame people can't stick to the 5mph!! However this site needs updating. There is no WiFi or TV signal, the facilities whilst clean need updating and the chemical waste disposal is so close to the washing up area that the smell whilst one person emptied their loo was awful. The deep shingle on some pitches is really not good as it made pitching our motorhome difficult with wheel spinning and levelling. This could potentially damage my outfit and is awful. Warwick itself is nice for an afternoon stroll but not much else but the bus to Stratford on Avon was good. Would only use this site as a stopover.

Unwelcoming

Seriously? You need new wardens on this site . I have stayed on many CAMC sites and have never been made to feel more unwelcome. Brusque, officious and quite frankly rude. First greeting : not 'hello' but .'Stand outside!' (only one other person in office ) Why do they need to ask several times if you are the driver or passenger of a unit for example? ,What difference can that even make when you sign in? Was it because I am female, I wonder.. ? .. and two nights booked on two bookings,? ( yes because the system wouldn't let me book the same pitch for two nights as only one of each was available , ) greeted with a big sigh.. 'well you'll have to wait until tomorrow so we can tell if you need to move ' ( despite there now being pitches for tomorrow available to book on website today, but no cannot swap a pitch with awning for one without, meaning we definitely wouldn't have to move then , even though it was available to book 'because someone else may want it' Then later on, Why did they not believe my partner that the gents toilet block combination lock wasnt working and just kept repeating the number loudly to him rather than checking it out? Then on him going back because it definitely wasn't...huffed and sighed .. . You do get a nice sheet with all the rules highlighted in Bold though , so make sure you read it and do as it says ! Site itself is handy for the town , cannot fault that and facilities perfectly adequate.. .But the 'hard standings' have been given a layer of thick shingle which makes it really difficult to get on or off without spinning wheels or depositing shingle all over the road and for using leveling chocks . I have never had to leave a bad site review before.... I wont be back here to leave another one

Great location

I have been using this site for many years, it's it a perfect location for touring the area, Kenilworth, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick Town, and even Coventry. Great site for motorhomers, easy walk into town or sainsbury's, great for dog owners, with comprehensive walks around the area. I can only comment on the disabled facilities, which are excellent, as is the chemical toilet disposal point, unlike Sutton-on-Sea, where it is completely inaccessible if you are in a wheelchair, and that is in a brand new building! Some negatives, not the quietest site, but not exclusively noisy, the new hardstandings are awful, far too deep in stones, maybe they will improve with use. This site has always been blessed with the best wardens on the club network, Kath and Roy are included in that, nothing is too much trouble, very friendly and welcoming. I will be back to my favourite site.

Not for long stays

We have stayed here many times in the past but usually just for overnight or once for a race meeting. This time we stayed longer and wish we hadn't. On the positive side buses are close by to take trips out, Stratford upon Avon, Leamington Spa and Coventry and there is a pleasant walk up the Canal. The town is not far away but is now full of charity shops or cafes and has very little to offer but Sainsburys for essentials is 'just up the road'. Many pitches have been upgraded but this has been done on the cheap, small pebbles over the pitch but no drain away facility, when we pitched there were two heavy thunderstorms and the water just collected under the stones and did not drain away it was just wet and soggy. As the site is close to Brimingham airport there was a constant loud noise of aeroplanes, and there is a footpath behind the site, which is very noisy. The facilities are very poor offering only three showers and two curtained washbasins (in the Ladies) for a site offering 56 pitches, and in common with so many CC&M sites the shower cubicles are very small. I would query why this site is more expensive than others as it does not warrant this, only good for an overnight or one full day before moving on.

Good for short stays but not a quiet, peaceful site

We have stayed at Warwick many times over the years which is great for short stays and only a short walk into the town centre with its many pubs, cafe's & eateries, not a lot of interesting small shops but as in most towns, plenty of charity shops. Sainsburys is only a short walk, so handy for those in motorhomes. Well located for visiting the Castle and there are regular busses to other towns such as Leamington & Stratford if you don't have a car. Overnighters are usually put on the tarmac area next to the race track but this area is out of use on race days. Many of the pitches have been 'upgraded' to so called 'hardstandings' but as they have used small pebbles rather than stone chips tyres & jockey wheels sink in and caravans are difficult to manouvre. The stones have also spread over the access roads so look messy. This is certainly not one of the tidiest sites on the network. DO NOT arrive before 1pm as the gate that crosses the racecourse is locked and will not be opened until 1pm on the dot, so early arrivals can sometimes queue back onto the main road. We found the managers strict (as they need to be with a few members ignoring the site rules), but were pleasant and friendly to us and our friends. As for peace & quiet .... The site is under the flight path to Birmingham International Airport, with low flying planes for 18 hours a day, the Racecourse groundsmen with their tractors are either watering or cutting the course from very early morning, there is traffic noise and sirens day and night, and there is noise from the gen public using the grounds for excersise and dog walking. Morning lie-ins or afternoon siestas are a definite nono !!

Centrally located site

Having stayed here several times in the past, we chose to stay her for an overnight stop en-route to our destination. Due to routine maintenance, entry was only possible via the golf course entrance, which is quite narrow with a tight turn and whilst we were told "the bin lorry gets through without any issues, so it is not tight", this is probably shorter than an average car/caravan outfi and has rear wheel steering. The check-in was not warm or welcoming and proved to be more of a tirade of 'do's and don'ts' on what has unfortunately become an over-regulated site. Whilst we appreciate that there will always be rules, there are ways in which these can be communicated pleasantly and less officiously - particularly as there is signage everywhere, duplicated and in some places in triplicate! The site is currently operating as part of a pilot scheme, whereby all outfits must have the habitation door on the same side, irrespective of Uk/European/Overseas builds. This can cause a problem for those seeking to pitch in a way to enjoy a view - racecourse, seaviews, lochs etc - where you could be forced to face a wall, high bank or other obstruction with the best view behind you. If current rules do not comply with fire regulations, then move pitches further apart or lose a couple to achieve this. The toilet blocks are somewhat dated and in need of refurbishment. The motorhome waste point is awkwardly located and not easy for some vehicles to access to ensure that the waste pipe is over the drain. There are a lot of dog owners in the CAMC - is it really necessary to shout from reception in a very loud voice to an owner for a dog weeing on the site - again, there are better ways to communicate. Luckily, this was not directed at us as this would most certainly have courted a reaction! On the plus side, there are several good pitches on or near the racing rail, affording fine views of the grandstand and course etc (should you be allowed to face that way!). Warwick Town Centre is a short walk away, offering plenty of eateries and pubs, plus a fish and chip shop. Buses to surrounding areas operate from the Town Centre. The site is surrounded by open grassland, which is excellent for a walk or if you have a dog for exercising.

Welcoming site near the centre of Warwick.

Stayed at the site for 2 weeks while volunteering at The Commonwealth Games. First time I had stayed in the caravan on my own. Having read some of the previous reviews, I was slightly apprehensive. However, my experience was the total opposite. From the moment I arrived, Kath and Roy made me feel welcome and supported. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and I knew if I had any problems they would have done whatever they could to help. The site itself is really quiet considering how close to the centre of Warwick it is. The fact that it sits within the racecourse probably helps. Although the facilities are a little bit dated (the showers are brilliant though), they are spotlessly clean and well maintained. There are plenty of walks around the area, great if you have dogs with you. The Grand Union Canal is about a mile away and offers a lovely walk into Leamington Spa. Sainsburys supermarket is a short flat walk away. We will definitely return to this site.

Great for the town

We were welcome to the site by Christine, who with the help from Roy found us a lovely pitch, where we didn’t need to face a hedge and had a nice view of the town and racecourse. I found Christine and Roy very friendly and helpful. The toilets were cleaned every morning between 10.00 and 11.00. We found this a little early as like to lounge and relax in the mornings, and there is no service toilet. The site was really in a great location only 10 minutes to Warwick centre. It’s also only a 40 to 50 min drive to the beautiful Cotswolds. The supermarket is a 10 min flat walk away, so everything is very central. Despite the proximity to the town the site was quiet and peaceful. We will be back
