Great site, however a little too far for us as we like to walk into town and the midges!!! Site is one of the best cc sites I've stayed on and the service pitches are well worth it, but why do we position the drainage points higher than ground level??. Final note to all males. I would hate to see your toilets at home. The brush is there for a reason, use it!! It's not for the wardens to clean up your mess.

Mountain Walking Weekend

Easily accessed off the A66. Superb views of Blencathra as you enter the site and from some of the pitches. As I was travelling alone, I was grateful to the wardens who helped me to position the van. The mobile chip van (visits Fridays and Tuesdays) provided my first very welcome meal after a 6 hour drive up the M6, before an early night ready for an early start the next day. The toilets and showers were good - clean and warm - and welcome both ends of my mountain walking day. I really enjoyed my 2 night stay and would certainly return to this site.

Lots of midges!!!

Toilets and showers v good as you would expect from caravan club sites. Not a lot for children to do on site. The activity centre next door seems really good but children need to be over 8 we had a 5 and 9 year old with us so wasn't fair to go there even though the 5 year old has his own quad bike he wouldn't be allowed on theirs or to do other activities. Site is out of the way so if you have young children be prepared to use your car a lot. Got bitten to bits by midges, at least that's what we thought they were.

To far

Lovely sitebut, a fair ride to Penrith and Keswick. Parking in both towns is difficult. Will chose another site closer to towns next time.

Troutbeck Head

This site is in a perfect location for walking the fells and the laundry room is very useful for keeping on top of your washing. We prefer the hardstanding pitches over grass as they drain when it rains and don't get muddy. The pitches are nicely spaced, you don't feel on top of each other. The Wardens are very hardworking but always cheerful and friendly. The toilet blocks are kept scrupulously clean even when the site is full of families. The visiting fish and chip van is very good. The site is a good distance away for food shopping in Keswick and there are lots of National Trust properties to visit nearby. Ambleside and Grasmere are good places to spend a day, lovely traditional pubs, also Windemere where there is Lakeland shop, a super place for lunch or afternoon Tea as they do Gluten free food. There is some noise from the Activity Centre next door but it is not awful, and if you are out during the day you won't be bothered by it. The dog walk is good with a supply of free bags attached to the poo bins.

Holiday 2016

The site itself is quite hidden from the road and on our arrival we were greeted by the helpful and friendly warden and after a drive round we found our pitch. The site is well laid out and kept to the high standards of the club. The site itself is ideally positioned for the exploration of the northern lakes and is quiet and peaceful however it is worth a note that there is an activity centre and working farm adjacent to the lower portion of the site which can be a little noisy as they have training sessions on quad bikes sometimes but this is not excessive and should not cause too much of a problem. There are two dog walks on site, the one to the upper part of the site where the serviced pitches are located is the best. We had a wonderful stay here and I would definitely visit this site again.

Lovely Site

We arrived for one of the hottest weeks so far, which also included thunderstorms. The pitches were generous and level - we stayed on a serviced pitch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The toilet blocks were clean and spacious. The fish and chip van twice a week was an unexpected bonus. There are two dog walks, both were very clean and well kept, with the one at the end of the service pitches leading onto a woodland trail for the more energetic dogs. Where the site is situated makes it easy driving to get to most parts of Cumbria. The quietness was bliss!! Thank you for an excellent stay, and look forward to staying there again.

Another lovely weekend

Another lovely weekend at one of our favourite sites. No noise from the adjoining activity centre and we were pitched near to it. Some beautiful views from many of the pitches. Loo blocks were warm and I do love the extra large shower cubicles here - all very clean. Arrived at 6:45 and had to ring to get into the office, but it was no problem. Lady asked us to try to be quick in pitching so we could get back to the office quickly to give the pitch number and get our key fob - as she wanted to close up. Just an idea, but temporary fobs could be given to members who arrive after 6, then you could get your pitch fob the next morning. That way the office could be closed immediately after your entry to site. After retirement we will endeavour to arrive before 6, but it's difficult to manage to get there before 6 when still working.
