Great views!

Nice clean site, well looked after by the wardens and great views of the Cornish coastline.  Very windy at times.  Well worth a visit to explore this area of North Cornwall.

Didn't want to leave

What a fantastic site, the views, the sunsets, the wind! The wardens were excellent, it's a great location to explore the area from. 4 Nights was enough for us to see what we wanted to see, but we were sad to be leaving the site. We will back one day.

AMAZING VIEWS

This site is set on a dramatic piece of cornish coastline. It is beautifully kept, with a clean and well adapted toilet block. The small shop run by the warden has the basics and the much loved cornish cream tea, fresh bread, pasties etc and most of all the wardens are wonderful, always helpful, friendly with a good sense of humour. Our favourite thing about this site is the spectacular views and the access to the coastal walks from the site itself. We will definitely be coming again.

Fantastic Holiday

Had a lovely week here and didn't  want to leave . Arrived tea time on the Tuesday and got a pitch set back from the sea. We didn't put up the awning as we had been told of the Trewethett Tango and fair enough the following morning we were able to move to a wonderful pitch overlooking the sea. For those looking for a  child friendly beach without steep steps to the beach head for Trebarwith Strand (about 3 miles away). St Nectans Glen with its beautiful waterfall set in a tranquil Glen is a place to sit and contemplate life absolutely stunning. Head to Padstow and take a speedboat ride around the Bay -  Exhilirating. We are already planning our visit to the site for next year.

Great location

Lovely site especially if you are lucky enough to get a pitch with views but these are hard fought for and many are left in the upper field with temporary Porto cabins for their toilet block - however they have been there on a more permanent basis? The un-initiated turn up to discover they can't have a pitch till they have walked the entire site until they find one. Not fun if you are tired after a long day travelling, especially as chances are you will be walking to the top field before you find something!!! The day we left someone was already queuing at 9.00am to get a 'good' pitch!!!! The staff are great, the area fantastic and the new toilet block is lovely.

Beautiful site

This site is one of those where you could stay without leaving the site. The views are magnificent and the wildlife is superb. Of course, good weather helps and the wind can be a problem. We have seen too many awnings destroyed here and would never consider using one ourselves. This time we sat outside the caravan and watched a family of peregrine falcons as they practised stooping on the local seagull population. The falcons nest on a point just to the north of the site but within view. People pitched on the top field were in danger of being struck as they swooped across the field. In the past we have seen basking sharks, porpoises and feeding gannets all from the comfort of our chairs outside the caravan. The walks to Boscastle (North) and Tintagel (South) are not large distances, but both involve some fairly strenuous climbs (typical of the South-west Coast path). It is a pity that the bus service from the top of the site is no longer an hourly service as it makes planning bus trips further afield more difficult. The only missing star from my ratings is because families will have quite a drive to reach a safe beach (Crackington Haven or Bude to the north; Polzeath to the south). The nearest beach, Bossiney Cove, (visible from the site) has no lifeguards and is a hard walk for children since it involves going down AND UP Rocky Valley adjacent to the site. The facilities on the site are excellent and the wardens are very friendly ang helpful. It is a long journey from our home in Suffolk to Trewethett, but one we hope to make again.

Stunning Site.

Well maintained quiet site with a well stocked little shop, clean shower block with nice added touches such as gentle music playing, and nice hand lotion in the ladies block (I can't speak for the gents but my husband seemed impressed!!). The children's wash room was very cheerful and even included some fun bath toys which we thought was a lovely idea. The sea views are simply stunning but the only thing we did not like was the obvious daily "bun fight" to obtain a space next to the sea - indeed it was even affectionately referred to in the site guide as the "Trewethett Tango"! We were fortunate and arrived mid week before main season and got a sea view space, but for the rest of the week as the site filled up we watched the shuffling of 'vans as people tried to edge closer to the cliff edge. As we left we had people actually approaching us to ask if we could save our pitch for them! The site employs a system whereby you are asked to leave your outfit at the main gates on arrival and walk about the site until you find a nice spot and then bag it for yourself by putting a deckchair (or similar item to claim your pitch before going to collect your van) the fact that people start queuing to get through the gate to get a sea view before 12pm only heightened this feeling of angst we are sure! Otherwise a superb site.

Mid week, still couldn't get a pitch with a view!

North Cornwall short break Stayed 4 nights Mon-Fri. Chose the site for the much emphasised sea views, however wish we had realised the chance of getting a pitch with a sea view was virtually nil, unless you are willing to scurry round every morning to see who's leaving and join the battle to move to a decent pitch. Otherwise your choice is likely to be between a sloping windswept field or (as we ended up), in the last available hardstanding which was basically like parking the caravan in a hole - high banks on 2 sides, other caravans on the other 2. All of this is a pity as the site is otherwise very nice. Clean, warm shower blocks as you'd expect. Decent dog walk and direct access to the Coastal Path. Just felt shortchanged as we had been sold the sea view pitches, and had we realised how unlikely we would be to have such a pitch then we might have chosen a different site.

A great site.

We spent a week at this site. The views are amazing and we decided to stay an extra night. If you want a pitch with a great view you must arrive at 12oclock as they go quickly. My only small criticism is that some paths on the site are not well lit at night. I would still definitely return though.
