Wow - just returned from a 9 night stay in Cornwall - with 4 nights spent here at the beginning of our holiday. There is absolutely no way I can ever imagine another site is this pretty with such spectacular views! We had a very warm welcome & once we had chosen our pitch (we opted for a grass pitch near the top of the site) the warden kindly lent us some blocks so we could get the back leg steadies down. Everyone was really friendly & busy keeping the site clean & tidy...... lovely facilities! The view was breathtaking. Lucky enough to have wall to wall blue skies it was hard to leave the site to explore the area. Sunsets were absolutely beautiful. The only down side we had was that the farmer decided to fertilise his field right behind us - luckily on the day we were leaving! Can't recommend this site highly enough. I have post-holiday blues!
Rules and Regulations
This is a caravan site with spectacular views and good facilities, although we were a little bemused by the rules and regulations which were so rigorously imposed. We had booked a non-awning pitch many months ago. We hoped to pitch next to relatives who were already at the site. We were pleased to see a pitch was available right behind them. However, we were not allowed to pitch there as that spot was an awning pitch, we had to abide by our original non-awning booking from 10 months ago! A little bewildering as the pitch in question remained empty for the duration of our weekend stay. About 20 minutes before our arrival our relatives asked the wardens if they could reserve said pitch for us, “No, that wouldn’t be fair to other customers,” Quite right actually, but in that case, the wardens shouldn’t really be allowing any new arrivals on site until 12.00pm, as stated in the CMH site handbook. That’s not fair to the rule-abiding citizens who arrive after 12.
Another peculiarity is gaining access to the site on arrival. As we had booked a non-awning pitch, (did we mention that?) we had a choice of only three pitches, all of which were visible to the wardens from the site office. “We’ll have one of those three then, please, “we said, before returning to the car expecting the barrier to raise. But it didn’t as we were told we hadn’t walked onto the site to choose our pitch and inform the wardens of the number. Another bemusing incident as it was clear where we would have to pitch……right outside the site office on pitch a, b or c.
We pitched the van and then moved it slightly as everyone else had done, staying well within the gravel but to make a bit more room for the car. At that point a lady came running out of the office in quite a state shouting as she ran, ‘Excuse me, no!’ My wife thought I had fallen over the bank. It was to advise me that the van needed to be exactly in line with the marker. I pointed out all four vans to the right of me had also moved slightly off marker to make room for cars. “Well, I’m going to have to fetch **** the male warden to talk to you.” When you have just started your holiday, you don’t really rock up for a talking to by the male warden! He came and could do nothing but agree, all the other vans had done the same and we were still well within the 6m rule so it would be fine. All a bit OTT we thought.
This is a lovely site, there’s no denying the spectacular position, but we don’t think the world will spin off its axis if the rules were a little more evenly applied, or possibly even relaxed a little!
Amazing views and friendly staff
This is a beautiful campsite, amazing views and beautiful coastal walks, the staff here were really friendly and helpful, and the facilities are spotless, they really do a good job keeping the site nice. I would highly recommend staying here. It was my first experience of a club site, I joined whilst staying here. Just like to thank the staff for their help and kindness whilst staying here.

Fabulous location.....Stunning views!
We have just spent 3 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The location is ideal for exploring and beautiful walks through National Trust sites, Rocky Valley and Bossiney give breathtaking scenery along the coast path.
The site is very well managed and on arrival you were able to select your own pitch, I appreciate this may differ slightly if visiting during high season.
We selected pitch 51, this was on the front line overlooking the coastal path with uninterrupted views. ( must say very windy due to extreme weather conditions two out of three nights) But that’s down to Mother Nature and can’t be helped!
The showers were spotlessly clean with endless hot water.
We should say that our score of 1, good for families, may seem a little unfair. We travelled without and chose the site for the reasons that it did not have play areas and clubhouse etc..... we did travel with our 7 month old Boxer though and she thoroughly enjoyed free running in the gated, fenced Dog area!!!!
The management staff were friendly and helpful at all times and ensured that you had an enjoyable stay.
We will certainly return in the future.

Ian & Yan Baggaley
Just spent 2 days at this site, fabulous views, excellent hosts. Spotlessly clean. Best site we’ve been to so far. Will definitely be returning. Thank you again for a fantastic stay.
Our return visit
We have now visited the site three times and have thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The site has been well managed and the staff have been friendly and helpful. It does seem to be a large site to have only one shower and toilet block but this was eased in the summer months when there were portable shower and toilets in the upper field. Excellent views and adjacent to the South West Coast path. We shall hope to visit again. My "good for families" rating only reflects that I did not bring a family and therefore find it difficult to assess.

Fabulous location, shame about the facilities
The sites location is perfect, no question, we love it, and this was our fourth visit. But its a site of two halves. The grass pitches at the far end have a fantastic view, but its a four minute walk to the shower block, (the porta cabin showers were closed, though no way would we have used them). The stand pipes at that end have very low pressure, plus the wifi is next to useless. So great views.
The shower block is inadequate not big enough, especially when the site is full, and it was. It is also showing its age, the sealant around the showers needed replacing two years ago, it still does. There is mould on the ceilings, and the drains in the showers are brown and grim looking. Its obvious the staff do there best, but it needs a refurb as a minimum it really needs a an enlarged shower block to serve the whole site, along the lines of the big shower blocks at the Centenary Site.
I know the club are unable to get planning permission to put a shower block on the grass part of the site, so a decent temporary toilet block is needed, in addition to an enlarged shower block, you can get them, them have them at Hyde Park every year. Either that or treat it as two sites, one a CL and adjust the site fees to suit, I know that won't happen, but something needs to change.
Wish we could have stayed longer
We booked a one-night stopover on the way back from Penzance without much consideration apart from it being half way home. After a night's stay we would have loved to have lingered much longer! Had it not been for the need to get home, and forecast thunderstorms, we would have certainly added extra nights.
The location is wonderful, and even though the site was quite full there was a choice of pitches with wonderful sea views (even though the exposed pitches got rather windy during storm Ali). The staff were very helpful lending us the bus timetable - although the buses are a little infrequent and we easily walked to Boscastle and back before the bus made it.
We had no complaints at all about the facilities - we were close to the main block, which was spotless and had everything we wanted.
We have a rule about not going back to sites a second time, but that rule may just get broken in this case.
PS I only scored a 4 on Good for Families because it's a mandatory field, although we didn't bring a family and wanted a quiet site without children, so didn't know what score to give. I imagine in the school holidays it would be great for children, which is one reason for us to avoid at that time of year!
IF CARLSBERG DID CARAVAN SITES !!
The most spectacular views and sunsets of any site we have visited. Had been trying to book this site for a while now but was always full on our available dates. Finally got here 1st week of September 2018 and was just as I had hoped for. Got pitch 62 on the front row right on the cliff top looking across to bossiney cove. fantastic walks on the coast path (but is steep and many uneven steps in places) but should be fine for most people. Tintagel and Boscastle are both very close and you can easily walk to either of them. The main shower block was very clean and tidy with good size showers. If you like excellent coastal scenery and fresh air then this site is for you. Some things I have previously read say that access to the site is not good. True it is further away from the A30 along narrower roads than other sites that I have been to in Cornwall but personally I didn't find it a problem towing a 21foot twin axle caravan in and out and when we left for home on Sunday evening to miss the traffic it was dark and raining and slightly foggy as well. Obviously different families have varying criteria for their holidays depending on their own individual needs, but personally I loved this site and will definitely be back the sooner the better.
Another great visit
This is the second time we have stayed at Trwethet. We have been fortunate that we have had a pitch in the front row both times. Needless to say as a coastal site situated on the top of high cliffs care should be taken if you pitch an awning. We had no problems but then we pitched our awning from the outset with storm guys. The facilities are as we would expect spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water, no queuing problems even though the site was full for the fortnight we were there. The wardens are both friendly and helpful making sure that we had a great time. We have explored the local area there is a lot to do and see. Walking the cliffs is so easy we walked to Boscastle and Tintagel both worth a visit. There are plenty of good restaurants and pubs in the area so eating out is easy, you do need to drive. There are good surf beaches nearby but make sure you have local tide tables with you, they are useable over the low water periods only. We will visit the site again it is a very special place. Best Cornish Pasties we have eaten bought from the shop, make sure you order yours early.
