Best site in Cornwall

This is our favourite site in Cornwall, have been here the last 6 years, we choose non electric economy for the best views and tranquility in our motorhome. Perfect every time, 6 nights of amazing sunsets, lovely walks and run by very friendly wardens who do an amazing job of running the site. Lovely walk to Boscastle and Rocky valley, Where you can find the Labrynth a bronze age casting. Or further into Tintagel for shops and pubs. Both about an hour each way, but beautifull walks. If you prefer to drive into Tintagel there is plenty of parking for cars and Motorhomes but the shop has everything you need if you prefer to relax. There is also a bus stop so if you prefer not to drive you can hop on. So thanks to the wardens who look after the site and hope to see you again soon.

Stunning Views

We have visited the site many times and it never fails to stun us with its beauty. It is a peaceful site with stunning views. The Wardens have always been very helpful and understanding of our situation with a member of the family having learning difficulties and classed as disabled. I could go on and on praising the site but there is one thing that I think the Club should consider and that is building a second toilet block - the cabins have been there quite some time. As mentioned in a previous review I was shocked to think that someone staying at the site the same time as us would stoop so low as to steal a pretty print of the site out of its frame in the toilet block. I have always trusted people around me when visiting club sites but I shall now tighten my security when visiting sites again. If anyone is reading this and knows anything about the picture - please return it to its rightful owners Thank you. Trewethett Farm - We Shall Return !!!!!!!

Dogs and their owners

We have just spent a week at this lovely site. Gorgeous views from the grass pitch area, lovely helpful staff. However we were disappointed by the fact that the view was often spoilt by so many dog owners allowing their dogs to urinate and defecate on the grass area particularly around the camping pitches. Owners did clean up after their dogs however there is still a residue that is left by dog excrement and Knowing what I now know I would not like any of my family to camp in this area. I realise the non dog owners are vastly outnumbered by dog owners but surely there is something that can be done e.g warnings followed by fines. The site does provide a dog walk which is near the reception obviously for some the distance was too far for them to take their dogs and much easier for them to allow their dogs to defecate in the camping area.

Stunning

We have just come back from a 4 night stay, the views as everyone points out are stunning, you get a great view from just about every pitch. We moved pitches after the first night to pitch 51 as for us it had not only a fantastic view but aslo was on the end of a row with a bank to the side. The wardens were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, they were even ready and waiting first thing in the morning (with a smile) to arrange pitch movements. The facilities are kept spotless and the wardens are actively busy all day. The dog walk is of a good size and has sheep fencing all around so you can let your dog's off the lead. The walks via the coast paths to both Boscastle and Tintagel are stunning although quite demanding on the body! A Pizza van turns up twice a week and they are probably the best you will taste, there is also a fish and chip van that turns up on a Sunday and again very good indeed, not at all greasy. The only downside was that a print of the site overlooking the bay was stolen from the main toilet block and this made me think twice about leaving items around, I am not the most security conscious of people and will often leave motorhome open and phone etc on the table outside but not any more, It is a sad state of affairs when this type of thing happens!

What a little bit of paradise

Well I had read the reviews, understandable about the pitches on top of the grassed area definitely need blocks in most cases. However for the most the site is well tiered with great views from most pitches. You can look at the site map but basically think of a letter j the hook end is near the entrance and blends into the cove of the coast and the long line of the j is the ridge of the coast line. Grassed area at the top of the j. Okay breathtaking views lovely coast line oh and beautiful sunsets. Staff are amazing helpful and tender after the site really well. Shower blocks clean and well maintained. Walk to Tintagel ..not for the faint hearted ..then to find it closed well...it’s why we are coming back next year (not that I needed an excuse.) but I have to mention the wood fired pizza van...best pizza I had for a while, oh and those who love fish n chips they are fresh and available too. Taxi from site cracking guy local and accommodating for the two dogs we had and so helpful. Pubs abound ,village is in need of the castle re opening but wonderful people who want you to be at ease. Wonderful site great amenities and relaxed staff on what is a little gem of a place Forget the Caravans clubs write up ...it’s not hype it just doesn’t do it justices ,no wonder it’s hard to get in here the site amazing. Oh and the better half says I need to mention the cream teas....enough said lol

First Class Sea Views

We have stayed here many times, we particularly love pitch 4, we were so lucky it was free. We love the site, the staff are friendly and helpful and the site is clean and well run. Easy walk into Boscastle, some steps and climbs, but we'll worth it, views are spectacular. The only downside to this site is the shower and toilet facilities, the main block is in need of an upgrade, it's getting very tired now in comparison to other sites. The site needs another proper shower and toilet block, the portacabin is extremely poor and some CL sites are better than that. A site so big and so popular should have two proper toilet blocks, I thought this when I first came a few years ago, but nothing's changed unfortunately. Will always come here however, as it is unique and it's worth putting up with the poor facilities to see sunsets to die for every night. Thank you to the friendly staff, you made us feel so welcome.

Rude Staff

We arrived at 1pm and had left by 3pm. A large number of pitches are on a slope that was too steep to level up. We were trying to figure this out when we were shouted at for not being within an inch of the marker. We get the fire regulations and were well within safe distances and were just trying to get as level as we could. There are no warnings on the website to say that this is a steeply sloped site and even our ramps made no difference. So, nervously, we went to ask if we would be able to move when a flatter pitch became free. No doubt the staff would state that they were not rude, passive aggressive is the favourite tool of all who are bad at customer service. The site is an amazing spot and the owners are clearly very complacent. We are now at a fully independent site just up the road which is truly lovely and very, very friendly. In 4 yrs of motorhoming we have never met any rude people..... until now.

What a view!

You visit this site for it's views!! Stunning coastline! We stayed for 2 nights, the welcome was warm and I like that you walk around the site and pick your pitch. The walk in Tintagel is not for the faint of heart or for anyone with walking difficulties. There are buses but the times are not great, however you can get a taxi to Tintagel for around £8 and they are dog friendly. We had iffy weather while visiting so will certainly be back to explore the area some more.

Wow - has to be the most beautiful setting I have ever visited!

We stayed here for two nights last week. Upon arrival (late afternoon) we were told to walk around to choose our pitch - and the views blew us away! Many of the pitches have the stupendous sea/cliff views, and most are a generous size - easily accommodating our 8m motorhome. The wardens were friendly and helpful. We arrived on a Sunday to find that there was a fish and chip van offering catering - which we partook of - very tasty! We decided to walk along the coastal path into Boscastle - not for the faint-hearted! After a tasty lunch at the National Trust café we decided to get a taxi back to the site, as the buses only run every 2 hours. It cost us £8 plus a tip, and was welcome after the arduous but beautiful walk there. Next time we will have to walk the other direction into Tintagel. One note - the castle is currently closed for repairs until some time in the summer 2019 - so check the website before you venture off, if that is where you want to go. We will definitely come back here again . . . and again!!

Best views ever

But that’s where it ends if you are in a motorhome and are trying to get around using public transport. We have been coming to this site for many years now and although we still love it, the cost and timetable of local buses have made it almost impossible to get around. Yes you can get a bus from outside the site, but timings are all wrong especially if you just want to go along the coast to Port Isaac. Day rider tickets are now an extortionate £15 each adult. Having said all that the views are amazing, the wardens very friendly and the facilities very clean.
