Home from Home

We love this site, we only live 20 mins down the M4!! You wouldn't think the site is where it is, a truly lovely location.  The benefit of accessing Tredegar House grounds is perfect after closing hours.  We like to book this site in the autumn as the trees and wildlife is beautiful then.  Cardiff town centre is a 15 mins drive away and there is a bus route if you didn't want to take the car/motorhome.  An Asda superstore is located near by for all of your groceries and petrol. However a chip shop and a Spar shop is literally a walk through the park.

The green green grass of home

This site is ideally located for all those who wish to take advantage of the many and varied attractions to be found in the Cardiff and Newport area. Being so close to major roads, there is bound to be traffic noise but I wasn't disturbed unduly by it. The site is extremely well landscaped with generous gravel pitches. Unlike some others on the network, there is also a decent strip of grass between pitches. The facilities are first rate and exceptionally well maintained by an efficient and friendly team of wardens. I question the logic of having the club's wooden gates closed in the evening when one has to run the gauntlet of locked parked gates and the site security barrier. Very enjoyable stay.

Convenient location

This site is open to non members, So those members expecting club rules to be adhered to the letter will be disappointed (I have no such qualms) The wardens were very friendly and helpful, The facilities were very good and well maintained, The location is ideal for Cardiff and surrounding areas, For members who enjoy cycling beware, The cycle map in the information room is not accurate, The routes indicated are not what they appear, and many of the cycling signs have been turned around by mischievous people, so you might cycle further than you had anticipated like me!!! Some reviews state that there is traffic noise in the vicinity from the M4 and nearby roads, I am afraid that this is correct and is particularly worse  between Monday to Friday at peak times. It does take a few days to get used to. There is no dog walk on the site but Tredegar park is next to the site  and is ideal for children, dog walks and for cycling around the perimeter of the park. Tredegar house is a must visit. I fully recommend a visit, Enjoy.

Making Magic and happy memories.

For the second time but now with our own outfit with visited from 12-18/07/15. Amazing help from Wardens as we asked many questions. But more importantly was the help to solve the mystery of the disappearing Fitbit bangle(due to leaving it behind in shower cubicle) until it magically reappeared again. Can't thank everyone enough, due to sentimental value. Sure stopped a holiday being totally ruined. Fabulous calm, serenity and the achievement of providing a sense of true 'good life qualities' back to Everyday life. Didn't want to leave.

3 night stay

A well placed site which was fairly full when we arrived giving limited pitch choice. Pitch had overhanging cherry trees which the pigeons enjoyed and left their deposits on the car, the caravan and my wife. The trees need pruning back. Otherwise the site is very good with the wardens very friendly & helpful and the toilet facilities were good and always clean. Great to have the run of Tredegar park and the house is well worth a visit. Only one other down side is the road noise. A constant hum form the M4 and quite heavy/noisy traffic on the adjacent local roads.

2nd Stay, this time on a serviced pitch

We visit family in Wales every year and this site provides us with a great base whilst we are visiting. This time we arrived early May for a 10 night stay and reserved a serviced pitch. We chose pitch 1 and had a great stay. The water tap was further away from our Aquaroll than the 7.5 metres length of hose which came with the mains adapter so we nipped to Newport Caravans to buy an extension which sorted the issue. Tredegar House is a great National Trust property and each evening a 1 mile or so walk around the lake and parkland was a lovely end to the day; prior to a glass of wine of course! Slight hum at times from the M4 but nothing to cause concern or disturb sleep.

Fabulous little gem of a site!!

We stayed in February 2015 for 4 nights.  We loved this site, the staff we so friendly and helpful especially good with their advice for family friendly pubs in the local area.  The site was well laid out and the facilities great.  The double gated entry after hours was no hassle, we were pleased with the extra security it provided. The Tredegar park was great for letting the dog run and a great little play park for the kids. Will most definitely stay here again.

Useful stopover close to Newport

We wanted a site close to our motorhome dealership so we could arrive early for service, habitation and mot. This fitted the bill perfectly. A well laid out and maintained site with high quality clean facilities. We know the area well so we were not holidaying as such, but lovely to be in the wonderful parkland of Tredegar House. The site was fully booked but did not give the impression of being overcrowded. One minor point but only to help make your checking in slightly more user friendly - we were welcomed by a lovely helpful site team. However we were then told to take any vacant standard pitch. This entailed trailing all the way around the site in convoy with other arrivals, and we all chose the wrong side of the site to try first. It would have been far more helpful if we were told that pitches X, Y & Z were currently free but that others were also currently checking in so no guarantee that all would be available. This would have helped us use the map to narrow our search. Only a minor point that would have improved our experience even more but it did not detract from a lovely sunny spring evening spent at Tredegar House. Only 4 stars for peace and quiet because there is little early morning traffic noise, but it didn't bother us. 5 stars for family friendly as we are unable to judge, just being a couple. Thank you to the site team for excellent facilities.

Lots to do

A well kept site with family friendly wardens & plenty to do in the vicinity. Tredegar House, its gardens & the parkland are a real treat. Great site for families, especially if the weather isn't brilliant, as there are so many local attractions (St Fagans, Newport Transporter Bridge, Caerleon to name but a few). The swimming pool in Newport looked fun too, but we hadn't brought our costumes. The road noise wasn't a problem, but like another reviewer, we couldn't work out the recycling system either!
