A lovely clean site next to the National Trust property. We have stayed here many times as a last stop before home. The only thing negative on this occasion was that it is a pity that the female wardens could have been a little more welcoming on arrival and departure. There was a caravan already parked outside the office on our arrival so we tried to park somewhere without blocking anyone but the female warden seemed quite cross at our attempt (not sure where she wanted us to go). When we dropped the key in the office on departure we encountered the same unfriendly attitude.
A very good site close to the motorway. You can hear the traffic but it is not intrusive. The house and grounds are beautiful with lots of space to walk around. The toilet facilities are well worn but kept very clean. There is also a chip shop on the far side of the house carpark but we have not tried this.
I stay at this site on a regular basis. It's a great site and the staff are always extremely helpful. The toilet block is getting tired. Water pressure can be very low and the toilets flush poorly. Grouting and sealing is black in places. I have been informed that updating will happen but no dates have been given.
Also the very tight corners for large outfits make it difficult to negotiate the bends without running over the grass. White sticks are put there to act as a deterrent but this is not the answer. Widening of the bends with gravel would help to ease the problem. Unfortunately these problems have been here for many years. Would appreciate some modernisation. Overall though a very good site
A really good site, well laid out, plenty of space for walking, cafe good food and dog friendly, some people have mentioned noise from the motorway, but we didn't find it intrusive, the staff are very efficient and friendly, we will certainly use this site for regular weekends away
4th visit to Tredegar Park. It's well situated for tourist attractions. Clean facilities, friendly helpful wardens. Despite dreadful weather we enjoyed the site.... BUT!! I realise the gate at the entrance is governed by the National Trust now, but this is a very serious HEALTH AND SAFETY issue!! You MUST either light the immediate area or use electronic admission for personal safety. It's very very dark there, and no lighting or cameras whatsoever. Come to an agreement with the NT before something happens which you WILL be responsible for.
Otherwise, great place to visit.
Stayed here for a couple of weeks recently and had a wonderful time. The wardens were extremely friendly and helpful and the site facilities were spotless. Beautiful park and lake nearby to walk around and supermarket 10 minutes walk away. Bus stop to Cardiff and Newport the same. Would recommend this site. There are roads nearby, but surprisingly, not that noisy on site
Difficult to judge this site fairly, considering the amount of rain and the flooded areas, however, it's a nice location in the grounds of Tredegar House and, in the immediate vicinity of the site, there are grounds and a lake which should be pleasant to wander in the sunshine. Beyond that, the area is more commercial and the roads are very busy although the traffic noise is not unbearable. We got no chance to try any walks in the area so can't comment on that. The site was clean and tidy and the wardens were friendly. Bus stops to Cardiff/Newport are a short walk away. One of our intentions was to visit Cardiff, both visits we made were enjoyable and we will be back to explore what looks to be an interesting city
First time at this site and trying out a new motorhome in the break between Christmas and New Year's Day. Lisa and Jim very welcoming hard working, friendly hosts. The site was in excellent condition despite the awful weather that everyone seems to have suffered this winter thus far. Tredegar House is impressive from the outside and we will go back to stay at this lovely site so that we can visit the house when it's open. Yes there is some road noise but nothing to spoil your stay and also depends on wind direction. I note the comments about the site gate but this is governed by the national trust and not the caravan club or the wardens so criticism unwarranted here. We attended a New Year's Eve soirée in the reception area with plentiful nibbles and free flowing mulled wine enhanced with Amaretto - packed quite a punch. (Sorry about the mess ?? On the mat!) Didn't cycle due to high winds and rain but will return to make use of good flat routes and lovely paths around the house. A mix of families, couples etc. Shower block lovely and clean plus warm, lots of hot water , such a haven when the weather was punishing us outside. This site a real gem. Local supermarket, chip shop, post office and a couple of pubs all within easy walk if you need the services these offer. Local bus stops to Cardiff and Newport just outside the grounds. Easy drive from Birmingham so ideal for a weekend stay in the future.
Only did one night but all excellent! Was impressed with the site generally the shower block was spotless! Lovely couple running it too very helpful and friendly. The location was pretty with the lake and trees even had squirrels running around. Think it will be a regular place to go. First class!
