Full up, but still quiet

I inadvertently booked two nights here on May bank holiday and was fearing the worst when we arrived at 7:30 on the Friday evening. We took the last hardstanding pitch as the site was almost completely full. We normally like pitches with "a view" but as you are in a wood, one pitch is as good as another. The pitches are spacious and the site has an airy feel to it with different areas screened by trees. So even though it was full it didn't feel like it. Wardens friendly as usual and keep the site tidy. For some the lack of a toilet block and showers may be a show stopper but you'll be missing out. We loved watching the squirrels running around outside our windows, and the Deer in the woods a short walk away. You will need a car to get about, as no pubs too close and if you tried it, the walk is on a busy road with no footpath. In summary, a tidy peaceful site, lacking toilets and showers, but well worth a visit for a relaxed break.

First Outing for Newbies!

Superb site extremely peaceful and immaculately tidy, very friendly welcome. Well organised we arrived late and found a personalised envelope waiting for us with site map a welcome note and instructions on pitching. Site is easy to access from main road but some how can hear absolutely no traffic. There is plenty of wildlife around and you wake to bird song. Plenty of space for dog walking, cycling etc and quite interesting finding out about the site history. I was told by some other regular guests on site that many families do visit with young children later on in season, although personally I felt it was a very tranquil setting and as such didn't give our children much free reign, further there is no shower block so 'de-scaling" the kids could prove tricky as our van has quite a small wash room. Some lovely local places to eat out, and site is well located for exploring coast line around kings lynn, Cromer etc within 1 hr drive. We will certainly visit again. Many thanks

Easter at Thetford Forest.

I have been visiting this site since the seventies with my late husband and it was and still is one of my favourites--I am now a member of the Loners group and there were several of us pitched there for Easter. The wardens are excellent and nothing is too much trouble, the site is very well kept and since the update a few years ago it is much improved. The only criticism I have is the number of dogs on the site at Easter.. One member had five dogs and several had three. I suspect that this is because of the rising cost of kennels. I know that this subject arises every now and then with the club but I do think that there should be a limit and possibly a charge for more that two.

Brilliant! What a fantastic site.

This was our first visit to Thetford Forest and we were not disappointed. Very clean and well maintained site. Friendly and professional staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommend this site especially for walking, cycling etc. The forest is beautiful. Easily accessible from the site. Brian and Sue Yates

An excellent site.

An informal site with a variety of settings for its pitches. Plenty of water and waste points. There are long and short walks from the site, and the added interest of a W.W. 2 Tank training area. Helpful Wardens complete the picture. Barry and Julia

Fantastic

We have stayed here 1 or 2 nights over the last few years but decided to stay for a 8 days. The site is so clean and quite. The birds, squirrels and munt Jack deer are great to watch so take a bird feeder, the walks from the site are just lovely. I cant thank the wardens enough for what they do even ordering us some of the best tasting steak ever. We are going back for another week later this year and can not wait. Chris and Deb

Birdsong

Its so calming to wake to birdsong. We visit this site regularly. Great for Swaffham, Thetford, Fakenham and Brandon for the country park great for walking and biking. The site is always tidy and being next to the Dessert Rats there is plenty to look at and many walks. We enjoyed watching 2 blue tits eating from the peanut feeder we bought and chaffinch eating bread scraps. Great site tp really 'get away'.

One of the best

One of the best sites. We had the same pitch as last year. Great for peace and quiet, dog walking in the forest. Lots of paths, so you don't need transport very much at all. Swaffham is great for range of supermarkets, Tesco, Waitrose and Asda. Great access for getting to other places. Access to and from the site is so good, with the flag poles and tank a great marker. This is now a regular site for us to visit, and not too far from home either. Really clean, wardens always very helpful and enjoy having a chat with everyone.

An excellent site.

The wardens are extremely friendly and helpful. The site is exceptionally clean and tidy.Even the tiniest piece of litter is quickly removed. The grass is so well kept you could use it to practice golf! Well leveled pitches. Useful for our motor caravan - saves maneuvering onto leveling blocks! Have been many times before and will return!

Camping at its best...

Fantastic forest site (blessed with good weather) with simple service points and no amenities blocks meaning we were self-sufficient and very comfortable. Immediate forest access for walkies with the dog. (every MoHo and Caravan had a dog or two). Great birdsong, lots of deer and wildlife in general. A very well run site with good hosts/warden and super dog friendly. We shall return.
