A great site for a quiet weekend. Beautiful walks in the forest, ideal for taking the dogs as you can go straight into the forest from the site. difficult to walk to the village off road without a map as a lot of the footpaths that far out are overgrown and not well signed in areas. The warden was helpful with directions but it would have made it easier if local maps of the walks were available. if you want to visit the surrounding attractions you do need a car as there is not a lot close by aside from the village, however I would recommend the pub there called the Crown for food. All in all a great weekend break.
Quiet and relaxing

A very quiet stay
We have used this site twice now as we love to access the forest and it's a perfect location to do so. It's clean and quiet but not best suited for families of young children. We have also been hindered by the 8pm check in time and have been asked to pitch up on the road outside minutes after 8pm because other caravanners voiced their concerns to reception that we may have been let in 'late' and disturb their peace. Although it is quiet and good for adults, my children felt they couldn't play outside as freely as they would at other sites due to the quiet atmosphere and the feeling they were being monitored by other guests. This spoilt it a bit for us. We would probably stay again but find the site too rigid for a totally relaxed break which is a shame.
Back to nature.
We spent 12 nights here and would return happily. This is a definite back to nature site where you find your own entertainment. The surrounding woodland is enormous and dying to be explored. The owls had numerous arguments at night whilst we were there, and for our entertainment the services played night war games a couple of times, although you can only hear them with their helicopters, etc.(An Apache helicopter flew slowly over us one day. Just for the enthusiasts amongst the membership.)
If you want to go further, may we recommend driving to Swaffham, leave your car in the free car parks and use your bus passes to go anywhere.Kings Lynn and Norwich Cathedral are not to be missed. We quite fell for Great Yarmouth as well.
Finally, we can not go without praising the clubs' wonderful wardens. I made a fool of myself by not connecting the caravan properly before leaving. Guess who was the first out to help us?
Of course, the wardens and I must say a special thank you to a splendid chap who provided me with a spare break away cable to get us home and sorted out the electrics for us.I never got the opportunity to buy him a drink, or the wardens so we send our grateful thanks to the wardens and all who came out to help us. Bless you all.
To the Club. Please.leave this site just as it is. Don't change it. The whole place is an abject lesson of how caravanning was and should be. A gem in the system.

Beautiful peaceful break
Lovely peaceful site in middle of forest, the wardens. We're very helpful & friendly. Good site with hard standing pitches or small 'glens' which were open grass pitches. The water & waste facilities were very good and clean. Loved the little herb garden boxes at the entrance which guests are welcome to use! If you are looking for a basic very peaceful site, then definitely come here. We will be coming back again.
Quite site
First time out with new caravan decided to try it out at a local site to me with no toilet or shower facility's thought if we can cope with this we will be able to cope with anything.
It is a nice quite site set amongst the trees with hard standing and grass pitchers, I must admit I was glad I had rock pegs as you need them on the hard standing here if you want to put up an awning.
Just beautiful
Just got back from our visit to this beautiful site. The relief warden and his partner were very friendly and made sure we were happy with our pitch 😊.
When we arrived he showed me around the site and pointed out which pitches were available and which would be good for catching the sun which was very helpful.
The site was very clean and very tidy especially around the service point area.
Will definitely be going back 😎

Forest setting
This site is very easy to find, just look out for the flag poles and tank at entrance to the old Desert Rats training ground. There is a marked route around the now demolished camp with sign boards at each turn.
With its proximity to the road the site is very quiet and lack of toilets (which we do not mind) does make it even more peaceful. It unusually now for a CC site have plenty of grass pitches some in sheltered bays and some more open as you drive in on the left. One word of caution these grass pitches do have a small kerb about 3" high if you do reverse on just make sure your jockey wheel does not foul,it's only minor but I noticed it and another van jockey wheel caught it.
There are plenty of hard standings and for a wooded site most pitched do get a fair share of sun.
Now with the closure of Mildenhall this site could become more popular and excellent value for money away from the peak periods.
Another point if you have a caravan is the site road leads to a dead end meaning a reverse is needed if you go too far.
Good site, shame about the MHSP
Good site location with lots to do nearby. Visited Oxborough Hall which is a good NT house. Site well kept, lots of kids on site but no facilities for play area.
Main gripe is the MHSP which seems to be an afterthought, it is surrounded on 3 sides by fencing, the drain is impossible to get over as it is located in the centre so no good if your MH has the waste pipe on the left or right side. There is an ancillary drain on the left but too close tot he fence to get over safely.
Warders have put hanging baskets up around the site which will be nice when they bloom. Site is fairly open considering its in the woods.
Was a tank base for the desert rates in 1944 as they prepared for D Day and there is a nice walk round parts of the old base with information boards which were very good.
Visiting on Tour
We visited this site while touring East Anglia. On arrival we received a friendly welcome from the wardens. The site is easy to find, access good, and far enough from the road that road noise is not evident. The site is nicely set out in forest, is peaceful and nicely maintained. There are pleasant walks from site in the surrounding forest, and it is handy for drives to visit the local area.
We visited Norwich using the Park&Ride which worked well as we are motorhome users.
We also visited Grimes Graves a prehistoric flint mine, which is well worth a visit, easy to park & with very enthusiastic staff. It is probably always fairly quiet out of season.
A visit to the nearby RSPB Lakenheath reserve is highly recommended. It is a beautiful place with plenty to see for birdwatchers. We saw our first Bittern the day we visited.
The only minor negative from a motorhomers point of view was the grey waste disposal facility. It is set in a concrete apron fenced on three sides. I had to manoeuvre quite a bit first to get access to the drain which meant being tight in against the fence. It was the worst disposal point we have come across on all the club sites we have visited. Hopefully the club will be looking at improving this and making it more user friendly.
We had a lovely visit to the Thetford site, and would visit again.
