enjoyable may bank holiday stay

A gem of a site located in an ideal location for touring the peaks.a very clean and smart site with spotless facilities very welcoming wardens on arrival and always stopped to talk during thier busy day to ask what we had been upto and suggestions of places to go with the kids.local pub the spanker was welcoming and we had a good sunday lunch and a few pints one night . No play park for little ones but dont let that put you off as we kept ours entertained and plenty to do nearby.

May Bank holiday rest

Stayed here for the recent bank holiday 25th May. We'vebeenhere before and only this time have we been able to appreciatethe site. Apart from being parked near to children (somewhat noisey) this is a lovely park. Beautiful views and in a lovely location.. Belper is a good walk away but we came with extra transport this time which made access to the town easy although my husband pointed out that there is a bus stop outside the club entrance... The staff are always on hand and the toilets and showers are beautiful and clean. We would recommend this site to everyone...

Lovely site but dog walk much too small

Have stayed at this lovely site a few times and thoroughly enjoyed it. We Always have a service pitch but have never pitched right next to the bathrooms before, we won't be doing that again as too noisy, not sure why but was even noisy during the night. Won't be having service pitch 35 again. The views are stunning and supermarkets very close by.

tv reception excellent and mobile phone coverage excellent.

Shame about the dog walk !

This is an excellent site which is kept very tidy and up to the usual club site standards. The warden staff are very friendly and helpful. I found the pitches were rather close together considering the cost. The main reason i selected this site was the apparent provision of a dog walk unfortuately this turned out to be a very small area at the lower part of the site surrounded by private property - certainly not what i would describe as a dog walk. To find somewhere off the site means walking down the busy road (no pavement) to get to a public footpath about a mile away. Great shame as morning dog walks are essential and so for this reason i won't be returning.

Another fab site

Just spent 3 nights here, the wardens Angie & Les were very helpful, when we arrived they said that as we had a larger van they told us which pitches were best for us, we pitched on no:48 wow what a view of the valley ( this is a service pitch), the facilities were very clean & tidy, I couldn't really give top marks for Good For Families as we don't have children, but from what I saw there isn't a play area for them, so the children were whizzing round on scooters, but we're we where pitched on the top just before the road goes down to the lower level pitches I saw children whizzing down the slope, which I thought was quite dangerous as you couldn't see if any vehicles were coming, other than that we had a wonderful time.

Weekend Break

Just arrived back from a lovely break at The Firs, new wardens this year and what a pleasure to meet them Les and Angie. Very friendly and helpful wardens who always have time to have a chat and make you feel really welcome. The site and facilities are spotless and are a credit to Les and Angie. We have stayed here several times as it is only an hour from home and can honestly say that this year it feels a different site. Be back soon

Weekend break

We have just visited this site for a  2 night stay not too far from home.  Spotless facilities, and well laid out.  Dog walk is small but adequate. The only reason we did not rate this site 10/10 is because having no children, and not seeing many there, I can't rate that area. Also, when we go there again, we will aim to go further into the site as we were backing the road.  All in all we liked this site.

excellent site

Visited April 2015 - one of the nicest sites on the network. Excellent pitches, toilets, information room and although the dog walk is small it is grassy, shaded and  provides adequate toilet facilities for your pet to enjoy. We have stayed on over 100 sites over the years and this is certainly now in our top 5. We will certainly return. Excellent wardens as well - the site is a credit to you.

Service pitches

We stayed at the Firs over the Easter weekend, and was disappointed with the service pitch as the water supply was not on our pitch and my water hose would not reach. I have stopped on service pitches all over the country and the clue is the services are all on your pitch, a guy further down said his drain was not on his pitch and had to buy extra hose.
