Fantastic First Stay

As new members to the caravan club we could not fault this site at all. Welcoming hosts on arrival & quick to help when we had a schoolboy error with the electric! The shower block was immaculate & the site was everything we could have hoped/wished for for our first trip. If you want somewhere great to eat visit the Fisherman’s Rest pub just a 20 min walk away from the site. Thanks for looking after us so well & will definitely see you again

28 minutes away

What a lovely site and only 28 minutes drive away from home. The site was up to the high standard that you expect on a club site. The wardens on the site were more than friendly and extremely helpful. When we arrived the warden came out and let me through the gate with our unit to start filling with fresh water, whilst my wife checked in, what a star. normally we have to wait at the barrier until check in has been completed. However we were booked on an fully serviced pitch due to the size of our unit which I had forgotten. The warden kindly loaned me a piece of waste water pipe as this was our first time on a serviced pitch. The small town of Belper a mile down the road with some small shops and plenty of eating places. Although there was no play area on site, Carsington water is only a 15 minute drive away. Great site great people and we will certainly return.

A Lovely Small site near the Peak District

We stayed here for 4 nights just before the site closes for the winter. All the facilities were spotless at all times of the day. A well laid out site with all you need for a peaceful stay in this area. The wardens could not be more helpful and I hope they are now enjoying their winter break in the sun somewhere. We will visit here again when visiting the area.

Peaceful week

Just visited this site during October half term and was pleasantly surprised with very little children onsite, probably down to the location and having no onsite park made our child free break peaceful, everything was up to the clubs standards regarding the facilities etc the wardens are so friendly and helpful and were ever so busy trying to keep pace clearing away falling leaves, will definitely visit this site again when we have the chance of a child free break again

Overnight Stay

We stopped over at this site on our way up from the South Coast to Durham. The wardens were very welcoming and helpful, and the site and facilities were very clean and well kept. The views from the rear of the site are great, and it is only a mile or so walk to the local pub, although for those who are not overly fit it is a bit of a steep walk back. Overall I would recommend this site for short stays/stopovers.

Well run site - recommended but not for children

The wardens use their experience to provide a good standard site which, overall, is a credit to the CMC. There is a range of pitches which should suit all members; the large pitches were set aside for the larger units and the best views seem to go with the serviced pitches. The site was full and we suffered from short queues in the facilities block [mainly female showers] which was like going back to the 90s. There is road noise but it is not excessive and should not spoil your stay. You can walk down to Belper although about two thirds of the walk has no pavement. The walk back is uphill although only one short stretch is steep. You can get a taxi or a local bus but some members said the bus service was unreliable. If you are interested in industrial heritage, the town is worth a visit including Strutts Mill. Of course, the whole of the valley is full of our industrial heritage. Nether Heage is about a mile away and has a working windmill grinding flour. The walk involves a steep descent and ascent. I'd expect children to get bored quite quickly.

Lovely Peaceful Site

We have just come back from spending 7 nights here. The site is lovely and peaceful with amazing views across the Dales. The wardens and staff were very friendly and helpful. The wife is a jigsaw fanatic and once she discovered the jigsaw in the information room it was hard to keep her out of there to let others have a go. There appeared to be a lone squirrel that ran along the fence at the back of our pitch on a couple of occasions which was surprising. All in all we had an extremely relaxing holiday and would highly recommend this site.

Compact but beautiful

Stayed here with hubby for 4 nights at the back end of August 2018 and will certainly go back again. The pitches are closer together than on most sites but we didn't find that a problem and the compactness meant it wasn't a long walk to the Toilet block! We were particularly impressed with the information area which was well stocked, roomy and set in a kind of conservatory with comfortable seating, there was even a jigsaw to do on the table. It was generally very peaceful with a bit of road noise but that was not intrusive and the small picnic area had stunning views, just the place for a quiet cup of coffee of a morning.
