Stunning location

This is our 3rd visit to The Firs when we got there there were relief wardens and very helpful and polite always a hello and smile when they saw you, it’s a very clean and friendly site. Lots to do around the area we will definitely go back next year.

A prefect setting

Our second visit to this site and we will be coming again. The site is very well maintained by Les and Angie all the time and it is a very peaceful place to stay. Even when full, it does not seem busy or noisy in any way. Ideal location for exploring the area. We made use of a fully serviced pitch, so the daily water and waste chores were avoided! Everything very clean at all times of the day.

Fab!

Got home today from a 4 night stay. We had a lovely time. The site is spotless and the wardens very approachable and helpful. We noticed that there was no visitor car park when we arrived so asked the wardens what we should do when family arrived. This was sorted out easily on the morning of the visit and my parents encounter with the wardens was as positive as ours. Friday the weather was lovely and sunny, Saturday and Sunday not so nice but we still found lots to do. The National Memorial Arboretum was worth the visit and only 25 minutes drive. Nottingham is in easy reach, we drove to the tram at Phoenix Park (follow the A610). The Denby Pottery factory shop is just a few minutes away. We will return to this site at some point, it was handy for us for catching up with family but the surrounding area of the Peak District has lots of places we’d like to explore in the future. All in all a great site with lots to do, the information area is full of leaflets with something to suit most folks.

Lovely site, great location but ........

Arrived last week for a two night stay on our way back South from the Northeast coast. A lovely clean site with amazing views, really friendly and helpful wardens, straightforward access if you follow what initially seemed strange directions, very quiet and an immaculate shower block - what more could you ask for. Well, considerate members would go a long away. Hate to moan and we are considerate dog owners, but to have to clear 3 lots of dog excrement from our pitch and then meet someone coming out of the toilet block with a puppy on a lead is in my opion going too far. Would recommend the site but some members - well that's another story. Please don't be put off by our experience, this is a fab site.

Lovely site,

Very lovely site, We have been here a few times, The Wardens are very helpful and friendly. Every time we have stayed at this site it gets better, and the views are Stunning. A word of warning do not go to the Fishermans Rest pub, the food is Disgusting, we got a refund when we went, we shall not be going to Fishermans Rest again.

Excellent Stay

Stayed for three nights last week at this lovely site. Very well kept by the hard working staff who were very friendly and helpful. The shower block was very clean with a good dish washing area too. There is a separate large information room which also contains a drying room for wet walking gear and two additional toilets for use when the main block is being cleaned. The bus from Belper stops right outside the gate. Lots to see and do in the area and the view from the rear of the site is wonderful.

Stunning views

This was our first visit to this site, but not our last. Gorgeous site, stunning views and a friendly welcome. Not too big a site to get lost, nice level pitches. The shower and toilet block lovely and clean and fresh. The disabled facilities spot on, the Mira shower is a real power shower and so refreshing. This is the sort of site we wil go back to again, the friendly welcome and helpful ones of the staff was so refreshing as some places are not so good. There is little for children to do but as we don’t have any it was perfect.

We shall return

Booked this site to visit relatives in Nottingham. However, we found so much to do in the local area and enjoyed the setting of this site so much we shall return and perhaps even miss out the relative visiting..... The site and facilities are well kept, the views stunning and the dog walk well situated away from the main caravan area with enough space to let the dog have a romp off the lead.

First time but not the last

This is a brilliant site with lovely staff. All is clean and tidy and ideal for touring the local area. Found a nice pub restaurant not too far away called THE HANGING GATE. Not cheap but a good choice of food in a nice setting.
