First time but not the last

This is a brilliant site with lovely staff. All is clean and tidy and ideal for touring the local area. Found a nice pub restaurant not too far away called THE HANGING GATE. Not cheap but a good choice of food in a nice setting.

Our first Caravan adventure!

We came straight here from picking up our first caravan in Nottingham. It's a lovely site, very clean and well kept. The managers were helpful and welcoming. Great little area for dogs to be off lead. Only slight downside was that all the local walks, or the walks to the local pub include some roadside walks with no paths, not ideal with a young dog! Belper is a lovely little town with some nice independent shops, particularly Fresh Basil Deli next to the Co-Op. We can also recommend the Fisherman's Rest for fabulous locally sourced food, and very dog friendly too!

Nice Stay

We stayed here for four nights recently and this is a very nice site. The facilities were spotless and everything was well manicured and tidy. The information room was temporarily out of order due to the lobby area being decorated by this was only temporary. you can cycle into Belper but it's a steep ride back! We will definitely return.

Stunning views and site

Lovely clean site, friendly, helpful staff, everything has been thought of for convenience and comfort. There is a dog walk with dog waste bin provided close by, despite this someone had let their ( obviously large) dog foul the grass close to the bin, very unfair to fellow members imho. Stunning views and countryside all around, it really is a country retreat. The walk to the nearest pub ( Fisherman’s Rest) less than a mile away, partly quite steep on the way back. It was a bit hairy as most of the time there isn’t a footpath, despite this we received a warm welcome, lots of local people in there which says it all, the food and service excellent, best steak we’d had in a while. The menu said it was a limited choice but there is surely something for everyone, hard to choose, locally produced where possible. Good choice of drinks and guest beers, lovely country pub. NB they also do takeaway including fish and chips and pizzas. As we are in a motorhome we like to explore on foot, the walk to Belper is not good, for the first over a mile there is no footpath, it is just grass verge so pretty scary, the cars are very fast and close, once you get on the path it is ok and Belper has a good choice of shops, pubs and eating places. Caught the bus back which drops off at the gates of the site. If you go left out of the entrance towards Heage you will find beautiful countryside and footpaths. Plenty to see and do nearby.

Fantastic Site

This was our 2nd visit to this beautiful site. Such a haven of peace and tranquility. The facilities are superbly clean at all times. The staff work so hard to keep the standards high , the staff were relief staff when we stayed and were tireless in their efforts to keep things looking fab. They never seemed to stop working.

The  reception we received on arrival was second to none and the cheerfulness and friendliness continued throughout our stay. We don’t tend to move our van when on site, we walked to Belper all down hill just over two miles, more arduous coming back. There is a bus service but every two hours each way I think but not an unpleasant walk down through the woods for some of the way. The town of Belper is lovely, lots of independent shops as well as the usual ones, everything you need . We would recommend a visit to the little nursery which is just down the road. Beautiful plants at very good prices. We will definitely be booking again. Loved the jigsaw by the way. Many many thanks to all the staff for your hard work.

Lovely Site

This was the first time we visited this site. It’s a lovely small site, kept very clean and tidy. It was ideal for us to visit Dovedale Stepping Stones. We will definitely be coming back here and would recommend it to anyone.

Impressed on first visit

This was our first visit to this site and we were very happy. The pitches are mixed hard standing and grass and flat and well maintained but fairly close together. The wardens were very good so all in order there. There is no childrens play area though so it might be better for those without them. Very central for most Peak District attractions so good for touring this area. No problems for us and we would be happy to return if in the area but do only use the clubs route there as other looked dubious..

Brilliant

From even before we arrived ( we had a problem with a potential slow puncture on the caravan) until the moment we left after only four nights, we found the wardens ( relief) to be amazing in their helpful and friendly manner. The Firs is a first class caravan club site and it shows. Facilities, immaculate, cared for, peaceful, uncrowded, ....and friendly. Such a relaxed place to be, and the relief wardens were amazing in the way they welcomed people to the site. A real credit to the Club .

Peaceful location

Warm friendly welcome from the wardens, who were very helpful when a had a few issues with the new caravan. Small peaceful site with lovely views and good TV and WiFi, not sure if this would be the same in the lower part of the site. Excellent facilities blocks. Very handy for trips to the Heights of Abraham, Buxton and the Crich tramway museum.
