Lovely Site, grass a bit soft.
This is our first site in our motorhome, we stayed for two nights
The site is easy to find and the staff are very pleasant. Even to grumpy people who've just got out of a motorhome after a 4 hours drive.
The staff were helpful, if a little chaotic in finding the pitch.
It would have been very helpful if the electric boxes had instructions on so you knew how to turn them on (plug in and twist the plug to the right, to unplug press the red button and unplug).
The grass was quite soft so after finding a level after a day the motorhome had sunk in a bit squiffy.
The toilets and showers were clean and well laid out.
The location is in a lovely location less than two minutes walk from the very centre of Tewkesbury with a proper market town with shops, restaurants and pubs close by. The Abbey is visible from the site and makes a nice backdrop at night.
I would be very happy to stay here again.
Staying on this site
We stayed Monday 20/7/17 for 2 nights
When we arrived it was raining heavy but this didn't dampen our overall feeling of enjoying the site.
The toilet block we used was a bit dated, but the warden we met on arrival informed us that the site is being updated next year.
Tewksbury town is an easy walk from the site, with plenty of independent shops etc.
This was our first stay here, but we will definitely be back.
Beautiful grassland site with views of the Abbey
We stayed here for 2 nights on Monday 20th March. The weather was rain so the large totally grass site was not the best place to be for a heavy motorhome. The helpful wardens had cordoned off areas that were not suitable due to soft ground. The site is well positioned for easy access into the town on foot. There is a good selection of high street and independent shops and a small supermarket too. Plenty of choice for eating out. A main supermarket, with fuel, is on the edge of the town as you arrive from the M5, which is very close by. The Abbey is wonderful, and free to enter, and the grounds have some magnificent trees including a very large Beech and two Redwoods. Bus services are close and regular. Not sure how far you can get easily but Cheltenham is 30 minutes away by bus. A 'Marquis' dealer is just a short walk away. Unfortunately some local noise during the night from pedestrians using the path that runs adjacent the site but otherwise very peaceful. The toilet blocks are very dated but clean and the overall impression of the site is a well maintained parkland setting, so very pleasing on the eye but totally open with no privacy hedging apart from a very small area in one corner. Good dog walking area outside site but no children's play park on the site itself. Good location for stopping off as close to M5 and easy access.
Our Half Term Stay
Excellent staff, lovely location on the edge of an historic town. Easy walk to shops and places to eat.
Unfortunately the toilet and shower facilities are not up to club standards-they are looking very tired.
our stay
We stayed at this site for two nights it is a lovely place near the town very helpful staff that made us feel welcome will definitely be coming back
Matter of Opinion
This site has loads going for it as many of the reviews have pointed out., not least the quality of the staff. However the difference of opinion on the toilet block puzzles me. We have been motorhoming since 2007 and
this sight was one of the first we visited .Quite frankly imo the toilet blocks have dated really badly and are in urgent need of improvement. Walls and tiles are cracked and there was black mould on the ceiling. The shower cubicles are not fit for purpose anymore. The CC charges top rates and sadly members are not receiving VFM here but seem to be relying on the location to save the day.
Peace and quiet in a great location
We chose this site to spend a single night after picking up our very first brand new caravan - and we found it excellent. Great location next to the town and park, although lovely and peaceful. Friendly, helpful (and understanding) staff. Great for the dog. Warm and inviting loos and showers. Pitches were generous. An unforgettable first time experience, so thank you.
Excellent location but showers need updating
Enjoyed a recent stopover at this site; friendly wardens and convenient pitch. The showers are well below what I would expect at a caravan club site though and is a bit fiddly having to use a key every time you need to use the loo/shower but obviously the club has reasons for this. Twekesbury is a lovely place to visit and reasonably dog friendly.
October booking
Tewkesbury is a lovely site next to the abbey. The bells are not intrusive, in fact add a pleasant feel. The town is a short walk away and is full of interesting shops and eating places. There are walks by the river. The abbey is beautiful and worth a visit and dogs are allowed in too. The wardens are friendly and helpful. Beware the weather though. If too much rain falls there are no hard standings to keep you out of the damp grass.
