Enjoyable stay

I stayed at Tewkesbury for a week back in August. The site was full most nights which did mean waiting for the shower in the morning. There does seem to be a lack of showers given the size of the site although they were kept clean.  The warden was helpful when I had a problem with my car.  Other caravanners were extremely helpful as this was the first time I had towed my van with this vehicle and only the second time of towing!! They helped me setup when I got a bit muddled and when packing up assisted with taking down my awning and hitching. I think I would only get get that support on a Club site.  Plenty of things to do around the area whether it is a long walk with the dogs or a trip to Gloucester, Cheltenham or any of the other Cotswold villages. I will definitely be going there again but will try to arrive for 12 to get the best pitches as struggled to get my van level.

Great site let down by dated facilities

This is a very nice site in a great location. Its within easy walking distance of the Abbey and town. I only stayed one night but it would make great base for a few days walking and cycling. It is only let down by the very dated facilities and the need to carry a key to unlock the loo block. The site was not full but I still had to queue for the showers (only 2 in the block i went to).

Excellent town centre site

Latest of several visits to this site, and as expected met the requirements. We both commented on the efficiency of the toilet cisterns in that the loos were not always left in a clean condition. Other than that, facilities are up to expected standard. Very handy for town centre facilities, try Theoc House for meals!

Peaceful and lovely location.

We stayed Sunday night to Saturday morning, would have loved the Saturday night but the popularity of this venue meant we had to hope for a cancellation, none forthcoming. Would recommend booking well in advance. The site is ideally located with local amenities close to hand. Facilities were clean and well looked after, staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Very tranquil with the Abbey as a lovely focal point. Will definitely revisit when time and venue permit

The Abbey is an excellent backdrop

Sayed for 2 nights visiting family. The welcome was as warm as the early autumn weather. Decent level(ish) pitch with a great view of The Abbey. Grounds were tidy and there was plenty space around us. Much has been said, in previous reviews, about the toilet facilities. They are somewhat outdated but kept clean. However, some action needs to be taken about the unsavoury smell. My Wife, and I, will return at some stage as this is an excellent site location.

Tewkesbury breaks

We have stayed at this site several times for varying periods of time. It is extremely well situated with the town only a two or three minute walk away. The Abbey is also very close at hand and is an exceptional building. There are several restaurants and pubs within five minutes walk and the town itself is normally quite busy and enjoyable. There are opportunities for walking straight from the site and boat trips are available on the river.  The site itself is very pleasant and is a short drive from the M50/M5. This makes it an excellent location for a stop over en route. There are two facilities blocks, both of which are kept very clean but are in need of updating. Personally I find them a little small for the size of the site and slightly claustrophobic. I think all the pitches are on grass but this has never been a problem during the times we have visited. The wardens are very friendly and helpful and in the Summer, the display of flowers around the reception building is outstanding. All in all a very good site and we will certainly be going there again.

Our favourite stop over

We stay on the Tewkesbury club site quite often as it is an ideal stop over on our way to Devon and Cornwall. The wardens are all very friendly and helpful too. I must admit, the toilet blocks are only small and a bit dated but they are always clean and well maintained. There are no hardstandings on this site, but i imagine this and the fact that reception is up some stairs, is because of the flood risk. Tewkesbury is a lovely little town, it has a beautiful Abbey that is well worth a visit. It has an interesting town centre with lots of history, and lots of cafe's/bistros and a Wetherspoons! It's proximity to the motorway is a bonus and on the way to the site, you pass Morrison's which has a petrol station with reasonably priced petrol and diesel, so you don't have to pay inflated motorway prices.

In need of update.

Great friendly staff and met SW members whilst there. Site in need of funds to update toilet facilities and more hard standings. Levellers and blocks a must in some grassed area's. With all the grass could be a problem when wet. Noise from the Abbey clock every 15mins if the wind is in the right direction. Centrally located so great for looking around town. Steep steps up to reception, so not ideal if disabled.
