Our stay

Very friendly & helpful staff. I needed to leave the site by 7am (gates are locked at 10.30pm and opened at 7.30am) and they were able to accommodate my request no problem at all. Great location and a lovely playing field to exercise my dogs. Just a short walk from the lovely town centre with most pubs dog friendly. The abbey was a beautiful building to visit and they allow dogs in on leads. Great gift shop as well! Only down side was the toilets and shower block, a bit "tired looking" could do with a revamp and the block closest to where we were, only had two showers so on the Monday, there was a queue. Will definitely go back to this camp site, hope the toilets will have had a make over.

Another Great Stay

We have recently have returned from our 2nd visit to the Abby Site at Tewksbury. The site is excellent and the Wardens very friendly and helpful. Our 1st Visit was last year and the only surprise was how dated the toilets block was, as we have stayed on quite a few sites we were surprised but didn't spoil our stay. This year the toilets were in a worse state, the ladies toilet had loose seats & some didn't flush one my wife had to lift the handle to get the tank to fill before it could be flushed, the taps were loose in the hand basin's. We have no problems with the cleanliness of the toilets. It's a shame as the site is well maintained. We have decided to give Tewksbury site a miss for a couple of years, but hope on our return the toilets will have improved. My only other concern is that as the site has a well displayed 5 MPH on the site, many drivers do not think this applies to them when they are coming in and looking for a pitch, as there are young children also many elderly walking about the site, so perhaps they should take notice of these signs before something happens.

Nice site but tired facilities

Nice grass pitches, most need a block or two to get you level though, all seemed looked after but some showed damage caused by excessive groundsheeting and so looked a bit sparse on the grass front; but this is very difficult for the wardens to control. The facilities blocks were a bit tired, but were clean, despite some campers best efforts (I'm always annoyed when folk leave the loo in a "state" after their visit). The water was hot and plentiful in the showers so thats all good for me :) The town is a short walk away and lovely with a few dog friendly pubs which is good, the food in the Berkeley Arms was very good. Overall a nice spot to stop off at for a couple of days to recharge the batteries.

Needs updating

The pitches are all grass and the only ones left were very steep and still on a slant with levelling blocks. The town is within easy reach of the site and walkable. The toilet block whilst adequate is very old and dated and could really do with updating its not of the caravan clubs usual standards

Great Location

unfortunately this site gets some negative revues, some of it is well justified, but we are told that improvements are to started at the close of 2017 season.Regardless of the comments, the site seems to do very well regarding occupancy. Tewkesbury itself is a lovely town with decent pubs and restaurants. There is also an excellent butchers,Halfords at 45 High St.We may well make a diversion to buy at this shop on our travels,it's close enough to the motorway. The Abbey is a must,as are one or two walks around the town and surrounding area.We are looking forward to returning, even before the refurb!!.Many thanks to the wardens, they have a difficult job here.

Toilet blocks

I think the toilet blocks really need updating although the staff tried there best, they were beyond reproach , the wall need replastering the tiles need renewing and floor are very slippery, I decided not to use them in the end. And used our own facilities. I think the prices for the night stay should be reduced until said toilet blocks are dealt with.

Reduced stay

We had been touring Devon and Cornwall and ended our holiday with 2 night stay in Tewksbury, unfortunately we only stayed one night and that was enough. The toilets/showers were not up to standard and most people seemed unable to flush leaving them very unpleasant. Our stay was at the end of season and the ground was not the best and our site was very muddy from previous awnings, no hard standing. On the plus side it was convenient for the town and a half way point for us from Devon, however we would probably not return. The wardens were very helpful and did say toilet improvements were going to be made in the near future.

Short stay

Location excellent, very convenient for the town and motorway. I appreciate the facilities are due to be renewed next year but this does seem about 5 years too late they are appalling, the Wardens are doing a very good job but can only work with the facilities they have. In addition I would say that some Members were leaving the toilets in a disgusting state, can't blame children as the schools were back when we went, this only makes the Wardens job harder and is totally unnecessary

Lovely site, too noisy!

Lovely site, security is good, Downfalls are the toilet door slam's shut with a loud bang every time some one goes in or out. We was on a pitch opposite the toilet block. On one occasion a lady walking her dog with a long leash allowed her dog to foul right is front of our hitch lock while she watching me watching her, Disgusting. People was using our pitch to take a short cut to the toilet block. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Great Site & location

We stayed at Tewkesbury for the first time even though the site is not that far from where we live. One of the main reasons for not booking has been the very negative comments by other members about the site. We found the site to be in a great position, the wardens very friendly. The only slight negative is that the toilet blocks could do with a refurbish but the water was always hot in the showers. We really wanted to stay at least one more night but couldn’t because they were fully booked obvious testament to a popular site. We will return.
