What have they done to the site!

Have always loved this site, great wardens, great facilities, BUT someone has taken into their head to remove loads of the trees and increase the pitches! Now you are so close to each other you can hear every conversation, see in every window which are less than 10 feet away, no shade, no privacy, no peace and quiet, it is awful!

Mid week stay

A fabulous place for a few days or a stop-over on a long journey. The park next to the site is great if you have a dog. The toilet/shower facilities are rather tired and not quite up to standards expected from the club. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Club really has to address the issue of pricing. We are using the sites less and less because of the cost! We are both retired and find that paying the ever increasing prices prohibitive!

Bank holiday week in the Cotswolds...

After a long drive arrived at this site. Quickly booked in and welcomed by the polite and efficient staff. A very handy location not too far from M5 ideal spot for walks into town centre and trips out by car to the Cotswold villages. Decided against a trip to Gloucester for the 'tall ships'. Plenty of other places to visit locally. Only minor points to note were that the cisterns in the facilities block were 'poor flushers' possibly tired and overworked, dishwash areas being open to the elements could be in line for re-furbishment. Thank you to you all for a very pleasant stay. Return visit will be 'on the cards'

We love being at Tewkesbury Abbey

We stayed at Tewkesbury Abbey twice in he last 3 weeks on our way to and from Devon, we have been before and never been disappointed. We always get a friendly reception on arrival, it's easy to get too, you can walk into town with lots of shops and places to eat. Yes the toilets do need a refurb but the wardens keep them clean and presentable. Also because of different closing times there is always a shower block open. We never had to wait for showers and the site was full a couple of nights we were there, we used them between 7 and 7 30am. We had good reception for TV and the internet, as for people not being able to find pitches, maybe if they slowed down a bit they would be able to spot them, we were pitched right in the middle and have no complaints. Looking forward to returning in the future.

Weekend Away in Tewkesbury

This site was ideal for a weekend away. Easy to get to off the motorway and in a great location just 5 minutes walk from Tewkesbury High Street. Tewkesbury High Street is very busy, lots of cars going up and down, but the 'main drag' has everything you need. A small Tesco Express, lots of pubs and plenty of take outs. It was disappointing that the only pub we found on our short stay with a great garden, did not allow dogs inside or out!! (Wetherspoons) Regarding the facilities, neither myself or my wife had any issues. Everyone can see from these reviews that they are old and a new central block is going to be installed at the end of the year, but they were clean and we had no issues using the facilities. The wardens were great and very friendly. It was the first time out for us in our new van and unfortunately our toilet flush kept blowing the fuse. But luckily for us a mobile mechanic happened to be on site and fixed it for us within an hour (water pump was solid, hence why the fuse kept blowing) Again, everyone knows you are using a site with only grass pitches, so if that is a concern then don't go! You always run the risk in this country. Although they are installing hardstanding pitches also at the end of the year. Overall a site to visit, with nice views of the Abbey and enough to keep you occupied for a weekend.

Our recent visit.

The toilets need some work to bring them to the standard required of the Caravan Club. The wardens were friendly and had good provision on site. We have been to sites in the past where new arrivals are given an indication of where empty pitches were located, due to not having that new arrivals circled the site often in order to find a free pitch, which because of layout can be difficult to find. The toilet blocks may be in need of updating but they were always kept very clean which was a credit to all the wardens. Very handy to be able to walk into Tewkesbury which could cater for every need.

Terrible facilities good location

Toilet and shower facilities are dreadful more like Butlins in 1960, very old, not enough and dirty. Queue for a shower, even a toilet it must have been like this for years, come on Caravan Club, get it updated. Also dog walkers, why do they let their dogs foul in front of your pitch, doesn't matter if they do pick up, always something left, what about the children who are playing in the area.

Very disappointed!

Just returned from a short stay at Tewkesbury Abbey. The location is excellent and the wardens are friendly, but the site itself needs a lot of money spending on it. (I believe that improvements are to be made at the end of this season and not before time!) Firstly, some hardstandings are needed - we had 2 full days of rain so only having grass pitches was not ideal. Secondly, the TV reception was poor and yet it says "Good" in the brochure - a TV booster system is definitely needed! Thirdly, the shower blocks are awful and very outdated. The block nearest to our pitch only had 2 showers. The site was very busy and so I got up at 6.45 in order to shower and I still had to wait as they were both occupied! Another morning I went to the other shower block and I couldn't get any hot water so had to have a lukewarm shower. The toilets obviously didn't flush properly either as, every time I went in, they all looked as though they hadn't been flushed! All in all, we were very disappointed and felt that this site is not up to the Caravan Club's usual standards.

Excellent location

First time visit to this site, over the bank holiday , so the site was full, but still had a lovely and peaceful wide pitch. The wardens are friendly and everything was spotless and well looked after. The location next to a beautiful park is perfect for dog walking, and you are in Tewkesbury town centre in a few strides. The view of the Abbey, especially at night, when it is illuminated, is magical. The town has plenty of places to eat and drink, and a bus service to Cheltenham and Gloucester. If you like walking, the walk by the river is good, as is the Battle trail. Recommended!!

Brilliant Bank Holiday

Arrived to a lovely welcome from the wardens even though we were a little early which is not always the reception you receive from all wardens. The toilet blocks may be in need of updating but they were always kept very clean which was a credit to all the wardens. Very handy to be able to walk into Tewkesbury which could cater for everyones needs. Once again a big thank you to all the wardens for all their hard work in keeping the site immaculate and for being so friendly, we certainly will be returning.
