Great location, perfect for a stop-over too.

We elected to stay at Tewkesbury as a stop-over en route to Cornwall. Yes the pitches are fairly compact & the toilet block is dated but the wardens are excellent & the proximity to the town is great too, so much so we're planning a return for a long weekend in the future. We're also stopping on our way back North.

Few days away.

Just returned from few days at this lovely site.After reading comments about trees being removed I wondered what we might see,but not as bad as I expected.No shade and ground a bit lumpy,Hopefully with winter work being done some planting might help.Easy to find and handy for the town,usual empty shops,but some nice little places to wander.Good wetherspoons,small rooms/areas to sit away from children.Used bus to Gloucester,on time both ways.handy Aldi and Morrisons. Water in showers could be hotter I had dial up to 9 and not really hot.all in all a good few days after busy w/e at Malvern Motorhome Show.

First Time

We have just returned from our first visit to this site and will definitely be returning in the future. The staff were friendly and helpful and the site was kept clean and tidy, the facilities were a little tired but were kept in immaculate condition. The site is perfectly placed for visiting the abbey and other attractions in the area and the bus stop at the site entrance made visiting the wider area very easy. All in all we had a very pleasant stay and are looking forward to returning in the future

Another Great Stay at Tewksbury CC Site ... But

Firstly we come to this site two or three times a year and really do enjoy the town and area. The site is always caringly looked after by the hard working wardens and although the toilet blocks are really showing their age they are kept immaculately clean. Tewksbury itself has some excellent pubs and restaurants all of which are dog friendly (except for the Wetherspoons). Beautiful walks along the river and a large grassed area for dog walking just outside the site. We really do like the bell ringing of the Abbey and the sound of a cricket match on the adjoining cricket club. Now for the but .... having not been here before in August we were surprised with how the number of pitch spaces appear to have increased to the point of it being rather impersonal. Maybe I am wrong but when the site was full over the weekend we seemed to be squashed very close together. This was further compounded by peoples reluctance to walk around the road to where they are going; instead they seem to think it is acceptable to walk within feet of your unit. Having two dogs that like their space this usually results in a lengthy barking session. Why also do people find it acceptable to transit to and forth from the toilet blocks wearing only dressing gowns or in one case a towel wrapped around them. Maybe I just have to accept I am getting older and things are changing. As I said initially we do enjoy this site and what it has to offer, maybe we just need to review our times to visit. Sorry for the rant but it is something I think has to be said.

Return to a Much Loved Site

Just returned from a weekend. Started coming to this site in 1983 so have seen many changes, some for the better some for the worse. Indeed it was staying on this site that convinced us to actually live in the Midlands. We now live in Worcestershire but only about 30 miles away so we can visit the town and abbey by day. Still it was nice to return, and hear the clock chimes, and the bells from the abbey. Sad to see some of the trees have disappeared but glad that they have gone because they were a bit dangerous especially the huge conifers. Hope they are going to plant some more trees when they re-furbish the site this winter, but then keep them regularly pruned (not something the Club is good at). The toilet blocks certainly need updating but they are still kept immaculate by caring excellent wardens. Please do something with the water pipes on the Chemical points. You get more water on you than in the cassette. Hope the electrics are being updated. Some of the old ones are really dangerous. the one for pitch 134 could almost be pushed over. Surely the 'elf' in charge of safety has seen it? Anyway looking forward to returning again next year and the year after etc etc.

Lovely location

Just arrived home after a lovely week at this site run Tewksbury. Prior to travelling I actually phoned up the site as after reading the reviews I was getting quite worried. In view of some of these previous reviews I will try and give a balanced view. The new club signage is not brill but they have put a border around it now to make it easier to notice. The entrance and arrivals area is spot on, in fact there are 3 lanes for arrivals. Admittedly one lane takes you in front of a gate but that is to get outfits clear of the car park entrance just outside the site entrance. I enjoyed listening to the cricket matches over the fence, its quintessentially English and I never heard any noise from the Rugby. The site can look quite chaotic when it is full but there is plenty of room and some of the pitches have a lovely view of the Abbey. Ok the toilet blocks need updating but the reviews tell you this so it is not going to be a surprise and they are kept very clean and tidy as usual. This is a great location and just a short walk in to Tewksbury centre. There are some nice pubs and restaurants and plenty of coffee shops too. I can recommend Coffee 1 and Cafe Au Chocolat to get you started. The market on Saturday and Wednesday although small has a very good fruit and veg stall and I can recommend the local plums and sweetcorn. 5 minutes walk and you are at the Abbey which is a very impressive building. While we were visiting they were conducting tower tours all week. If you are feeling fit and energetic give it a go as the views from the top are marvellous. Walk out of the site across the playing field, out of the gate the opposite side, turn left 200 mts and you are at Aldi for all your shopping (there is a Leisure Centre next door too). Again across the playing field but this time walk down the lane opposite and this brings you down to the River Severn. Sometimes in summer there is a little ferry running to take you across to the pub on the opposite side. There are plenty of other walks along the River Severn and Avon too. There is a nice short walk around the Ham to the Weir on the Severn which will only take an hour or so. Every Tuesday evening there is a guided walk around the lanes and alleys of Tewksbury which was really interesting, details are in the Tourist Information which you will pass when walking in to the centre. We visited several NT properties during our week and there are lots to choose from in this area. All in all I don't think you will be disappointed if you come to stay at Tewksbury. What a beautiful location..

Beautiful site so close to the Abbey and the beautiful town. And just a short walk to the river. Definitely a must visit place. I will definitely be coming back here, one of the most beautiful towns I have visited, and the site is perfectly located and very easy to get to. Unlike a previous review I found the signs leading to the site spot on, and the arrivals area is where you need to be I would have thought. Can't praise the site and the staff enough, I will definitely be back very soon...

What a shame

We arrived at Tewksbury and found the signage confusing as to where to place our outfit. The only visible road marking lead us to an arrivals area with a gate and fence at the end of it which also had pedestrians passing through it , NOT IDEAL ! We found the site to be very tired and in need of updating, the shower blocks seem to be out of the 1970s. Pitches are very close together. We would advise that if you are looking for a peaceful break this is not the site to choose. We found the Rugby Club and Cricket club adjacent to the site very noisy.
