stayed last week for seven nights, weather superb, site even better, third visit to site, recent refurb to site is great, no complaints at all, cant wait to return.
We'll be back!
A very convenient to get to site, with lots of amenities and places to visit close by. The pitches are spacious firm and pretty level. The staff are very friendly and could not be more helpful.
A bit of constructive criticism......
Firstly, the handles on the toilet block doors are round and stiff, and not easy to use for older, arthritic hands, especially one handed. I had to put my towel and toiletries down and use two hands. They should be LEVER handles. This should be easily fixable, and worth doing especially because the site staff told me that I was not the first to find them difficult to use.
Secondly, the roadways are a bit narrow and some corners rather tight, as a result of which vehicles have recurrently run up over the grass edges turning them to mud, which is at least, unsightly. One patch has been repaired with Cotswold stone pebbles; rather than the going to the trouble and expense of tarmacking these worn areas, I suggest that the are ALL repaired with the same stone pebbles.
Great weekend escape
We love this site.it's only just over an hour away from home for us.the location is great the town is lovely just for a wander around with a market on the Saturday. Good bargains. Nice walks by the river and some good pubs and eating places.the new lounge bar at the end of the high street is a nice addition to the town.good tapas.also bus stop at the top of Gander lane with buses to Cheltenham. Evesham. Gloucester etc.have seen some slightly negative views but for us won't fault the site or its excellent wardens..we will be back soon.
Visit to Tewkesbury
I have just returned from the Caravan and Motorhome Club Tewkesbury site. The good point of this site is its location as it is just a short walk to the town where there are many places to eat and to enjoy a morning coffee or afternoon tea. There are also some walks along the river bank.
However there are downsides, of which there are many. Firstly the individual sites for each caravan or motorhome are extremely close. This is not good for privacy and also for manoeuvring a caravan or motorhome onto a pitch. The hard pitches are few and far between. The website does not make it clear that the majority of the sites are grass, this was agreed with the warden on site and he said they had reported the fault on the internet to the Club but still the people like us arrived to be horrified to be given a grass pitch. The hard standings were all booked at the time of our visit.
The wardens do their best and spend considerable time using their tractor to pull motorhomes from their pitches. This site should not use their grass pitches during wet winter periods.
The new toilet block has a bad system to gain access - a code number and to turn a smooth round handle. The door has a heavy spring and there were many people who could not manage to use this means of access and I found many times people outside knocking to come in because they were unable to use the means of access. To leave was no better as again a heavy door to move and the same smooth circular knob had to be turned. Also the heat in the showers could have been warmer.
The wardens were very helpful but they got very muddy and therefore their hands were not the cleanest to push motorhomes from their pitch so left nasty marks on window edgings but at least were more than helpful doing their best to help motorhomes etc leave their very muddy pitches..
Not a site I would visit again in the winter months unless I was assured of a hard standing.

Lovely site and location
We stayed here from 8th to 10th of March having made a last minute booking. As such we could only get a grass pitch which due to the weeks rain was a bit soggy. The wardens were excellent and when our 25m cable would not reach to the electricity bollard moved us to another spot with no quibble. This was our first visit and we were impressed by the hard standing pitches and the new amenities block, which were first class. The walk into the town was easy and we did the Riverside Walk and the Battle Walk which were easily done and well signposted. It was a shame about the weather as the grass pitches were going to be ruined after only a week of the site opening. The wardens were doing their best to pitch everybody but as the hardstandings were fully booked grass pitches were having to be used. Next time we visit we hope to be able to have a hardstanding pitch if we can get one. The planting on the site was tended by a gentleman who spent the whole day in the rain tending to the new plants and they are a credit to him.
Lovely first stay at Tewkesbury, and would definitely return.
We stayed here over the weekend of 8th to 10th of March and overall had a great stay. Checking in was easy and the wardens were helpful and friendly. We stayed on a service pitch which I will always choose now if I have the option, great. After reading other reviews about the toilet block I was very pleasantly surprised that everything was warm and also very clean. Left hand side of the site I think is much better on the eye( we were on this side ) than the right hand side due to being flatter and better set out. When we arrived on Friday afternoon it was quite windy and we were taking our brand new air awning out of the bag. Very pleased to say one of wardens stopped and helped us pitch it which was very much appreciated. We saw the wardens many times over the weekend and they were always busy, but happy and smiling. Great location with a 5 minute walk into the town, with a great view of the Abbey which is literally next door. Only thing we would like to improve on is the signage to get towards the reception to leave. If you don’t take a left after driving round toilet block you have to go all the way round again. Would happily return without hesitation
Excellent location - collected our motorhome from Marquis 500 meters away
We collected our new motorhome from Marquis Tewkesbury 500 meters away, having caravanned and camped in the past. When I rung and booked I informed staff of our situation and they were so helpful, giving lots of suggestions. On arrived we were helped again and our friends who had driven us up and had all our belongs we allowed to park. This made setting up so easy.
We love this site and have booked it again. Thank you for all your help and advice.
Change of van break
First time here toilet block is lovely, service pitch was excellent, 5 min walk to town everything you need a lovely site with great wardens already booked for September.
Great location
Tewkesbury Abbey site is perfect for walking into the town, there are also great local walks around the town. Having read the general moans relating to the shower and toilet block I was pleasantly surprised, they are fine and very clean. The wardens are very helpful, with helping guests getting their caravans/ motorhome's off the pitches as it was quite wet.
The only problem we had which wasn't the fault of the campsite but a dog owner who allowed their little four legged friend to foul just outside our MH door and neglect to take it home with them - this was reported to reception who ensured us they would remove it!! They didn't.... If you are planning to visit this site be careful if you happen to have pitch 131...dog dirt in your MH would be nasty.
We are happy to see all dogs enjoying themselves but mom and dad be responsible and pick it up...
We would definitely go back to Tewkesbury Abbey.
Tewksbury Abbey
This site is perfectly situated next to the abbey, town and a large playing field.
We found easy access for everything we wanted to do, especially dog walking in the spacious field and along the river.
A popular site that looks very busy and full most of the time, possibly due to the lack of trees/partitions between pitches, however this is not a problem to us but may be a busier times.
