Perfect location

Lovely welcome from Andrew at the gate. Cheery and polite and very helpful explaining what was what etc! Excellent location for our purpose which was to meet up with friends for an evening meal in the town. 5 minute walk into the very picturesque town of Tewkesbury and can recommend dinner at The Abbott’s Table very conveniently positioned at the end of the campsite lane!

Beautifully located site

Have visited this site on numerous occasions during the last 18 months as our family live in Cheltenham and it has been an ideal place to meet them during the recent restrictions. The site is beautifully situated within walking distance of Tewkesbury and it’s beautiful Abbey. We love it here. The toilet blocks and showers are beautifully clean and all the wardens are extremely friendly and helpful. Are visiting again at the beginning of July

Excellent Site, everything on your doorstep.

This was our first long trip in our van, 323 miles and 7 1/2 hours later we arrived at beautiful Tewkesbury Abbey. The wardens were very friendly and welcoming and the site was beautiful and well kept. The facilities were very good too, the changing area in the cubicle is great, and they were kept very clean. The site was very busy, coming from north of the border we hadn't realised it was half term. That said the kids were well behaved and at night there was very little noise at all. It is a short walk into town and everything is there on your doorstep. A must see is the Abbey, it is an amazing building with some fantastic stained glass and tonnes of history. We both thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights en route to Cornwall and would not hesitate to book here again or to recommend it to anyone else.

Lovely Site, conveniently located for Tewkesbury Town and River Walks.

We stayed at the Tewkesbury Abbey site recently, and were very impressed with its location, cleanliness and facilities. Some COVID restrictions were still in place, but these worked fine for us even if some guests did not heed the face covering needs within the toilet block and did not understand the wrist band system! Due to the wet conditions some guests were struggling to get their vehicles on and off the pitches. We were lucky as we were on a hard standing site. I do think that there should be more fully serviced pitches available, as this is what most people want. One comment I would like to add is one of the wardens needs to go on an anger management course and perhaps attend a Customer Services seminar, as his attitude to a couple of guests who had mis-understood the pitch marking system was appalling, making them feel as if they were criminals! The other Wardens were great and very accommodating. We enjoyed our stay and will be happy to recommend it and will certainly be returning to this very well placed site.

Very disappointing stay

We had a very disappointing stay at this site. On arrival we we were advised we had a grass pitch which I had not realised as when I booked it said standard pitch with awning which I hadn’t realised were grass pitches ( this is my fault). I did ask if there was anything else available but was told not. The pitch we had was near the entrance to the site by the public carpark just outside the site as this was the only available pitch. The weather was terrible and the pitch was like a total bog as were all the grass pitches. They really aren’t fit for purpose and need to be made into hardstanding pitches. We were paddling every time we stepped out of the caravan. Our shoes were wet through and muddy. The carpark just behind the site had cars with loud music, shouting and bottles being thrown about until the early hours of the morning then at 6.30am each morning the work started on new gas or water pipes that were being put in. I appreciate this is beyond the control of the site but all in all it was not a very pleasant stay at all. Ourselves and the people pitched next to us left early as they were also fed up with everything. Definitely won’t be rushing back to this site which is a shame as the area is lovely and the Abbey is stunning, I hope the CAMC seriously look at scrapping the grass pitches for hard standing as on a site that is known for flooding they really are not fit for purpose.

Great site and really close to the town and bus stops

Starting with the welcome and site information to the pitch itself, we cannot fault it. the staff are friendly and the site is clean and well kept. There is a bus stop about 2 mins walk from the site and regular goes to Glous and Cheltenham. the 2 main independent bookshops in town are an absolute treasure trove. loved the site and the walks around, will be returning.

Two night stay

Stayed here for two nights in April. Pitches are well spaced and face in a variety of different directions so choosing a pitch that suits your requirements shouldn't be a problem. The facilities are very clean and the Covid procedures are well thought out and generally everybody seemed to adhere to them. The site is in an excellent location only five minutes walk into the town centre with a good range of shops, take-aways, pubs and facilities. The boat trips down the Severn were suspended whilst we were there but no doubt they will start again in May. Right next door is Tewkesbury Abbey and even a cricket ground where you can watch matches, which appear to be played on Saturdays. Even so the site is very peaceful and there is little or no road noise, especially after six in the evenings. The site has three service points one of which has a drive over waste water disposal point for motorhomes. The toilets are spotlessly clean and the staff are extremely helpful. We were just a couple and I'm not too sure if there is a play area or any specific facilities for children on the site. To be honest I forgot to look! However, in general I think this an excellent site and we both agreed that we would stay here again if we were visiting the area.

What a Difference

A warm welcome on arrival from the very friendly wardens. We had booked a service pitch so we could use our own facilities, which worked well. Nice wide pitches but being a 8.5 metre motorhome with a fence behind us meant it was difficult to open our back garage door as the pitches are nice and wide they are not as deep as we are used to on the private sites. The whole site is so very different to when we were at Tewkesbury before. The site used to be all grass with lots of trees and roots making pitching quite difficult to get level. It's now very open with some new planting, there are still some grass pitches and multi surface pitches as well as the service pitches and all can been booked on line. Wardens worked very hard seeding the grass pitches for next year. We were really lucky to be able to visit the Abbey, just beautiful inside and the gardens are amazing with a fantastic twisted old Hazel tree. Beautiful walks around the Mill and Victoria Gardens as well as into the village.

a little disappointed

First visit back since site refurbished and didn't realise unless you booked a serviced pitch that the remaining pitches are grass which is not great at this time of year. There are multisurface pitches but you put your awning on the grass. As you can imagine the grass pitches were very muddy! Another thing which spoiled the stay was that even though 4 people were allowed to use the washrooms out of 9 toilets only 3 were open and same with showers out of the 9 only 3 open! Haven't came across this at any of the sites we stayed at this summer - the number of facilities matched the number of people allowed in...... Apart from my moan it is in a good location to walk into Tewkesbury and walks around the riverside,

Epitomy of a well managed Caravan Park

We have just returned from a five night stay at Tewkesbury and were delighted with how well managed the site is in spite of the current pandemic restrictions. Although many of the customary local attractions are closed or operating at less than full capacity there is still much in the area to occupy the visitor and arouse interest. The wardens have a free list of easy to follow walk instructions and we were able to sample some of them with no map needed. Nearby towns such as Gloucester, (you have to visit the regenerated docks area) and Upton upon Severn with its plethora of river side pubs are both easily cyclable following the Sustrans Route 45 which is mostly on quiet lanes once away from Tewkesbury town.(OS Explorer Maps Recommended). Unfortunately theatres and Tourist Information Centres remain closed due to Covid 19 restrictions but at least Tewkesbury Museum is open in the afternoons from 1.00 pm. Great fish & chips from The Abbey Fryer in Barton Street which can be pre-ordered by phone to be ready for collection. Even in mid autumn this is a great place to stay. Our multi surfaced pitch was large although it is requested that awnings are pitched on the grass at the side of the block paved 'van parking area. The site sanitation facilities appear to have been refurbished three or four years ago and the showers are the best that we have seen in the past 12 years staying widely across the network of Caravan & Motor Home Club sites. Well done to all the staff at Tewkesbury for all your efforts in maintaining a very high standard in all aspects of the park.
