First class wardens

Stayed here for a week at beginning of August. Very busy site and had to pitch up by site entrance near to road when we arrived . The road itself is not that busy, but it is very fast. However as soon as a pitch further down the terrace became available the lovely wardens allowed us to move to a quieter and less windy one and I think we had the nicest pitch - slightly on its own, overlooking the wooded area. Unfortunately the woodland walk into town was closed due to landslip so we had to walk along the grass verge into town which took approx. 10 mins. Barnard Castle is a lovely charming town with everything you need and a lovely pub - the 3 Horseshoes - fantastic food! We visited the Bowes Museum - fantastic, and took the bus to Raby Castle - well worth a visit. Everyone we met were friendly and welcoming . We thoroughly recommend this site.

Cocky warden!

I have just returned from a two night stay at this site, we live local so use the site often. There happened to be some dog mess in the middle of the road opposite our caravan, and a warden was at the service point taking away the rubbish. I went over to him and asked if he would clean it up, and he replied "No, I will not.... No I will not! Who's mess is it?" To which I replied that it was probably some irresponsible dog owner's, he then said "Only joking, i'll clean it up". He then went on to clean it up, but I could have done without the cockiness from him, as I was only asking!

Peace at last

What can I say about Barnett castle, it was a dream site to visit and one with no hassle. The staff were fantastic and welcomed us with open arms they were very very helpful and full of charms.  The facilities were immaculate and cleaned to tea, my wife was amazed at all she could see.  There was a wee bit of rain on our final day but if you want my advise it's a wonderful place to stay

How wonderful

We booked a last minute trip. What a marvellous  find. Site was clean,  well laid out, fab dog walking facilities,  close to the town.  The showers where extremely  clean  lots of hot water.   But don't just listen to me go and try it yourself  , you won't be disappointed.  ??

Very welcoming

Stayed for 3 nights last week and used it mainly as a base for visiting The Bowes Museum. On arrival the warden was very welcoming and helpful giving advice on walking into town and visiting the museum. The cafes and pubs of Barnard Castle are within easy reach. The facilities on site are bright and spotless. Next time I'll try the fish and chips from the visiting van.

A Benchmark site. Spot on.

Visited end July for a couple of nights as part of a road trip, we have stayed before but couldn't remember it being this good. Wardens were really welcoming although we were a little early, large clear pitches, over looking the valley , good satellite reception, Facilities spotless and well laid out. Walked into barney up and down the hill a few times without problems, We booked a cab to go in on the Sat evening for dinner and it was prompt and only £4.............The mistake we made was not booking a return as when we tried to get a cab back at midnight nothing was available till 01.45. She who must be obeyed was not best pleased walking back in high heels !!. All in all a really great site for activity and peace and quiet. Great wardens and a great view............what its all about really.

Well laid out site

Beautiful site with good sized pitches. Excellent dog walk. Convenient for Barney with local bus stop just outside entrance. Directions need to be amended. It is nearer1.25 km from TLights (not 0.25 km). Very welcoming wardens. good chip van!  Enjoyed our stay
