Excellent site in a great location near Barnard Castle. Water main works on the road made travel into the town awkward but hopefully finished by mid summer.
There was a bit of traffic noise from the road but it is not too intrusive as the road is not very busy. A nice country pub in a nearby village, the Fox and Hounds at Cotherstone that does excellent meals.
Site has a very nice setting with pitches overlooking a wooded valley with lots of birdlife.
Lovely
This is a great little site. The location is good - close enough to walk into Barnard Castle for pubs, shops, restaurants etc. The castle and the Bowes Museum. Also nicely situated for countryside walks.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the site was well maintained. Definitely recommend.
Great location, lots to do.
We had a lovely visit in late March. Site is very accessable, great facilities and fabulous location. Staff were friendly and welcoming. So much to do on the Tees valley and of course Barnard Castle on the doorstep, well almost.

A beautiful site set in a part of England as it used to be
What an absolutely beautiful site, kept very clean by very friendly and helpful warden's.
We used there full service pitches which was a big help water and waste always connected.
The pitches are very clean and level.
Some people have complained about road noise. But I never found this a problem, you are bound to have some road noise to have such an easy to access site but most of the day and after rush hour it was all quiet so I have nothing to complain about their.
The town of Barnard castle is like stepping back in time. To a time when everyone was knew eachother and where friendly. It was such a pleasure to have people say hello to you as you walk into town. And people seamed so enthusiastic about the town telling me the best places to eat and to visit.
This has become my favourite place to visit
A must for anyone wanting to see England as it should be.

Excellent
Nice site and well laid out
The welcome was very friendly and the wardens clearly work hard to keep this site looking good, I had a good chat with the warden about the issue of people driving far too fast on site that has children playing etc and sure enough during our stay I would say at least 50% of vehicles were been driven far too fast
We found walking into Barnard Castle quite easy and there are plenty of pubs that are dog friendly and really welcoming, we went to the Old Well at the bottom of town run by an Indian guy and his wife which was great for real ale and completely dog friendly and on Friday evenings they have a curry night which is a superb selection of Indian food with Dhal lentils etc and was exceptional and good for gluten free
Also the Golden Lion was extremely dog friendly and served great food which was adapted easily to gluten free if required
The only downside of the site for was two points that could be improved:
1. The dog walk field entrance was extremely muddy and in an awful mess and it would take very little effort to lay some stone down in this area to cure this problem
2. The other comment we had is the walk into Barnard Castle was along the side of a busy road and again very muddy and slippy, we feel that the amount of business the campers bring to the town, it wouldn’t be too difficult for the local council to extend the footpath for a couple of hundred metres to cure this issue
However don’t let these suggestions for improvements put you off because it’s a very good and well run site
new clean and tidy place
fabulist site a part from some road noise on one side of the park but please do not let this put you off we will defo be going back
one night stay
Unfortunately due to our schedule we only planned for a one night stay here but will return very soon.as soon as I walk through the door I was given a great welcome and was made to feel like I had just arrived home, I explained to the staff we were new to the Motorhome lifestyle having only purchased our unit at the end of last year and only visited two sites previously the amount of advice and information I was given and it was made clear that if I had any questions no matter how silly they may seem just to go and ask and they would help, I was given excellent information about the surrounding area and what to see and do and went to hook up feeling really welcome like an old friend.
the facilities on site were spotless and everything thing was first class. the only reason we have marked it down for families is that there is a steep hill to walk down to Barnard castle on a quite busy road and there are no pavements, excellent site will be back soon
Great site
This was a very modern and well equipped site .The facilities were really clean .The staff were friendly and helpful .Great site very close to Barnard Castle and great for exploring the Tees valley .
Great Site
Lovely site within easy walking distance of Barnard Castle which has great shops and restaurants. Site is kept in very good order with very friendly wardens, nice large field for dog walking and another smaller area with a gravel path if you haven't much time or don't want to put your wellington boots on.
Some pleasant walks from the site itself either through woodland or along the river. Didn't use the WiFi but good signal at the site on EE network.
Good sized pitches.
Fantastic Wardens
The site itself is a lovely site, close to town. Well maintained and definitely worth a visit, Especially if you have dogs, as the dog walk is one of the best we have seen on a club site It was the wardens who made this trip special. Even before we left they contacted us to let us know the bridge in town was closed. The amount of local information was beyond anything I have ever seen before as well.. We were due to leave Saturday, but due to bad weather again told by them we booked for another day. It is a great shame this is their final year. We can only wish them well for the future.
