Worth the wait

We booked this site, then were told it was closed due to refurb, tried again then Covid hit. Third time lucky, just had a great 10 days with luckily pretty good weather. The site is lovely and quiet though I do have to agree with some of the “tree” comments after seeing the state of some cars and Caravans covered in bird mess. The facilities block is lovely, spacious and warm. The band system working well. We used our bikes extensively along the esplanade, lots of coffee stops. Visited Mablethorpe, market day had lots of local produce. Sutton on Sea, great butchers, The Dolphin for fish and chips and local hardware store that had “everything”. However the single thing that made this trip for us were the wardens, they were the friendliest we have come across in a long time, always had time for a chat and useful local info. Though an enhanced repertoire of whistling songs would be appreciated lol 😂 We will be back.

Tree’s tree’s and more tree’s

Site spoilt by overhanging tree’s especially in the service pitch area. My car and caravan have never been in such a mess, took me two full days to clean them when home. Never again will I pitch under tree’s. As well as the mess made, the blxxdy pigeons drove us mad. My own fault some would say as I should have done research before hand. Shame as the site was in a good position with excellent friendly staff and everywhere very clean. I really feel that the tree’s need attention, it was bad enough for us but standard pitches behind us where totally overwhelmed. Love Sutton on sea but would not use this site again.

Not for solo wheelchair users

Great wardens, very friendly.... But, the site has had a complete refurbishment, and huge mistakes have been made, if you are a wheelchairuser. The chemical toilet disposal room is tiny, impossible to empty a cassette from a wheelchair, unless it's less than half full due to the angle you have to approach from . The hard standing are so deep, it's really hard to move a wheelchair on, but they may firm up over time,, grass pitches, when available, are a slightly better option. caravan and camping club 4 miles away in Mablethorpe is so much more accessible. Makes you wonder if there is any consultation with disabled on the design of the facilities, sad to see such poor design these days, yes, I know, I am a very small minority, but it would cost no more to get it right, than get it so badly wrong. Come on caravan Club, it's not acceptable these days to get things so badly wrong

Great site

Had a week here in June 2021. Friendly wardens and all very clean and tidy. Good location for the east coast. The beach is about 25 minute walk across fields. The beaches around here are great, mostly sand and good walks from Sutton to Mablethorpe. If you have young children and want a beach holiday you probably will need to drive to the coast. We will return no doubt.

Very nice site

This was our first stay at this site, and we found it very peaceful. There was plenty of space around the pitches, though a lot had shade at least some part of the day. One part of the site i am glad i did not try to book was the serviced pitched quarter - it was very crowded. And did not look 'safe'. Everyone appeared to be on top of everyone else when full. Technically it may have met the requirements, but to me, was not in the spirit, by cramming so many pitches in - what appeared to myself - too small an area. The site was very clean, as was the facilities block. The staff were pleasant and efficient. The old-style town is maybe half an hours stroll though either fields/seafront or on the road. Two places of note that are worth a visit for food, are the Fat Seagull on the way to town, for day-time snacks/drinks. And the Old Stables bar and restaurant at nearby Maltby (12 mins drive). The latter being excellent value for money and great food.

Stunning site.

Just back from a week's holiday, fantastic weather, the site is well maintained, staff so friendly nothing to much trouble. We were fast tracked through on arrival such a great relief after a long journey. The walkto the beach and Sutton on sea is great. Fish and chips on site were welcome, such a friendly guy. Well done and thanks again Sutton on Sea Team

Excellent Site

Lovely site very well run and maintained , great layout, all 4 wardens extremely friendly. Grass cut regularly and toilet block kept immaculate. Good location for beach - 15 minute walk. You can walk along the seafront into Sutton. Beautiful to sit in the sand dunes. Sutton on Sea - pretty little unspoilt village which has a few shops. Definitely worth a visit.

Such a peaceful and beautifully laid out site

We spent a few nights in April at this lovely site. It’s spacious, beautifully kept and with very friendly caretakers. The site felt cosy and welcoming. It is a tidy, but flat walk to the coastal path. It is Lincolnshire, and everywhere is flat, which suits us well as one of the party used a mobility scooter. The wonderful coastal walk is such a pleasure with the dunes, the wild empty beaches, and cute beach huts, and the area is a world away from the gaudiness and noise of Skegness and the like. Unlike the commercialised resorts, there was noticeably less litter and uncollected dog faeces. The facilities on the site were spotless and we had to do very little levelling.

Great site but consider your requirements re location

This site is extremely well maintained and the facilities and general cleanliness is top notch with effective COVID measures in place. Staff are very helpful and friendly. This was the first time we have used a club site despite having been members for a couple of years and overall the site was excellent and the other campers very friendly. However we left after just two nights of our four night stay. The reason was that the surrounding area and particularly the coastal towns, including Skegness, really were not our cup of tea and something of a disappointment to us. We are not big walkers or cyclists but I can see that the very flat countryside would be a draw if you are and the sea is definitely closeish to the site if that is important to you. If, however, like us you like rolling hills or mountains and a scenic outlook then this area may not be for you. One final word; we tried the chip van on our first night after a long and very hot journey and were unimpressed. Our meal was lukewarm at best, the portion small (although not expensive) and the chips and batter were definitely soggy and unappealing. Perhaps we got them on a bad day but I would not try it again.

Great Site.

We spent four terrific nights at this site. What a great place for dog walking with excellent walks from site and the beach less than a mile away. Very clean and maintained site. Very helpful & friendly wardens. Definitely a top site.
