First outing with new van so about an hr from home was good. Have been on site just a few months after opening but grass and planting does not seem to have matured much. Once the site dries out a bit after two very wet months in the area and growing season starts it may be better.
Motorhome service point at central toilet block needs a drain as any spilled fresh water just runs over the roadway.
Toilets as always excellent but mirrors in gents are too low.
Very convenient for visiting Glasgow. As long as you are not going in or out during peak periods you are as well driving in. If going at these times, train from Motherwell would be best. Just drive through the park, turn left up hill and station is about 1/2 ml. Very impressed when Warden dealing with booking ahead of me lapsed into fairly good German after hearing them speak faltering English.
Current roadworks on M74/A725 outside site has some interesting diversions which need your full attention, and careful towing over some uneven surfaces(not potholes) but works will not last for ever.
We stayed here mainly to make sure our caravan was good after a few months in storage.
The site is very easily accessed off the M74 and is clearly signposted. It is located on the edge of Strathclyde Country Park in a rural setting. There are a couple of hotels nearby that serve food and a local carvery, all within walking distance.
M&D's Theme Park is 300m along the road which has a number of rides, 10 pin bowling and various entertainment for the kids. The park itself includes a large man-made loch which is an ideal size for walking / cycling around.
I would recommend this site as great location for visiting Glasgow and the surrounding area. It is also ideal as a stop off if you are heading further north and just need an overnight.
The facilities are what you would expect from a club site and are clean and warm.
We had no complaints about our stay here.
This site is great for visiting Glasgow and the surrounding area the facility's are fantastic and site wardens were very helpful the only down side was the presence of four traveler family's who had set up camp to the dismay of all I would check with wardens to see if they are still there my wife was not happy with them running around with transits etc I definetly be back to this site but will phone ahead to get update regarding this, on the whole the site is top class and I would recommend it to anyone
This was our 3rd time at this site. The only downside to it is the traffic noise from the motorway. It is an extremely well kept site and is convenient for many surrounding towns/cities. The railway station at Bellshill has a free car park and the trains run regularly to both Edinburgh and Glasgow. We will definitely be back again and again. Another bonus is the Toby restaurant next door for breakfast or dinner if you can't be bothered to cook, lol
Our 3rd stay here as we love Glasgow.. our favourite city! We booked for half term (English school hols) and the site was really quiet which I was surprised about.. in fact only 20 or so caravans so it was lovely and quiet and had the (immaculate) shower block to ourselves.. Well we never had to queue! Just a 15 min drive into Glasgow and seconds from the motorway makes it really handy location. We visited the riverside Museum on a wet day which was really good and lots to see and it was free.. just £1 to park! The weather was mixed on this stay so we didn't get to walk around the lake on the country park which we have done on previous trips. There is a tiny amount of road noise but it didn't bother us as at all. We will return again soon
We booked this last minute for a Wee night away in our new motorhome. Lady on reception very helpful let us pick a pitch as the site was quiet. Toilet and showers were spotlessly clean and warm and as a music lover the radio topped that for me hahah. Down side for us however was there is no bar area or activities for our children as such. Overall we had a nice quite break for the night just what the doctor ordered. Oh another small point is no shop in site so make sure u have plenty on board
Thanks
Kirsty & Mark
Great place to stay as there so close to towns and the park it's self. The fertilities were spot on and keeped very clean. My only issue was all the traffic works going on down the road, whitch is not the caravan sites problem. But makes access into the North end of the Strathclyde Park confusing in wet winter conditions.
Site wordens were very helpful and friendly and this is a big part of staying caravan site in my eyes. If you have a family then there is lots to do locally to keep them busy. Most of it is within 30 minutes drive .
I have stayed here a few times when visiting Glasgow and have always found it to be very clean with friendly wardens.
I have not found the road works to be a nuisance and didn't hear any noise. I found it easier to use the motorway exit at the Motherwell end of the park.
