This was our fourth of six stops on our four weeker and the second time we've been here. This has to rank as one of our favorite sites and we have visited a lot! It is fantastically clean and spacious with excellent facilities and friendly wardens. Strathclyde Country Park is just across the road and is a lovely open space to walk, cycle or simply sit and relax with an icecream or a picnic. We don't have any yougsters but for those that do there is a wonderful Theme Park for them to enjoy. Glasgow is a local bus ride away (private bus from site) whilst Loch Lomond and many other beautiful places are within easy reach. Forget about traffic noise from the busy motorway and road that is close by, take ear plugs for night time if need be but it didn't bother us at all. In all, a great site both for a stopover or a longer stay. Strongly recommended. If I have to gripe about something it would be that the grass wasn't cut at all whilst we were there and the pollen from the thousands of Buttercups sticking to our shoes was a bit of a nuisance.
1 st time here

Good Central Site
Only went for a weekend, but kids had a great time, visited M&D's Amusement Park next door, lovely walks, clean & good services, safe (barrier) site, kids could play safely in playpark, friendly & helpful staff.. will return.
excellent stopover
We booked this at the last minute enroute from Oban as a stopover to prevent a 6 hour drive, we usually stop over in Moffat but though we would give this site a visit and we were not disappointed,
its a lovely site and the perfect stopover for anyone travelling north or south.
The site is located just off the M74 Motorway at J5/6 and located in the Strathclyde country park.
The park grounds were great for a walk about after a few hours drive south, the check in was smooth and efficient and the warden was very helpful.
The site is only c4 years old and still looks in pristine condition, the toilet block was immaculate and we liked the piped music too.
some reviews we read made us sceptical before we booked, some pitches are nearer to the road so you would hear a slight road noise but we were on the south side of the toilet block and it was fine, and we were not disappointed and would definately return again for a longer stay.
Good Site
All new staff this year which I found unsatisfactory because it is a year round site and requires continuity. Having stayed 6/7 times last year I felt this year the staff, although good, were a bit in the dark and it was a very steep learning curve for them. Not their fault it is the club hierachry who in my book are themselves not competent as they do not run the sites themselves and have probably never had to do the wardens job. I believe all the hq office staff should gain experience on a site before being allowed to dictate how the site are run.
The present wardens are good but there should have been more continuity from last year.

Not for us
We were warned about the noise from the roadworks, no fault of the cc. Good area for dog walkers, but too busy for our liking, we only stopped for one night on our way to stonehaven. Most probably will not return.
Good site
Stayed for 1 night in early May on our way north. We found it to be a well run site, and up to the normal high standards of the CC. There was some traffic noise, but this was not intrusive, and certainly did not spoil our stay. We will certainly return for a longer stay in order to visit Glasgow.
Expensive
£27.50 for one night with no awning and just two adults ,far to expensive CC what's that price all about.
Profit was not the CC original concept it's a caravan club for members run by members so don't know who,s behind these price hikes.
We did complain but it's not the wardens fault, only one toilet block open and constant noise from the motorway.
We also stayed the next night at the Kendal site which also charged £27.50 for a sloping pitch not big enough for an awning the same site the week previous was £21.50 !!!!!
Apparently it was because it was 1/2 term so how long has CC been doing what the airlines and Holiday company's do.
Think this needs to be addressed at the AGM.
Doggy Paradise
Was noisy from the road nearby but you get used to it by the second night. Lovely dog walk and then right opposite the entrance a path leading to the hundreds of acres of walking and the lake in the country park. My pup just learned to swim there. Thought it strange that there was only one toilet block in use when the site was nearly full but the facilities were great and very clean. Having to pay cash for calor gas was very odd and meant I had to purchase it elsewhere.

WELL BELOW CARAVAN CLUB STANDARD
THIS SITE IS WELL BELOW CARAVAN CLUB STANDARD FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS.
IT WAS LIKE SLEEPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE M1.
DESPITE THERE BEING OVER FIFTY UNITS ONLY FOUR TOILETS AND FOUR SHOWERS WERE OPENED, OTHERS WERE LOCKED, WHY?
NO TOILET PAPER AT ALL IN THE TOILETS.
JUST GLAD WE WERE ONLY STAYING FOR ONE NIGHT. WOULD NOT RETURN.
WARDENS WERE FRIENDLY ON FIRST NIGHT,WHEN WE LEFT AND I WENT TO COMPLAIN( ALONG WITH ANOTHER MEMBER ) THERE WAS A LOCUM WARDEN WHO TRIED TO TELL US THAT THE TOILET PAPER WAS BEING STOLEN WHICH I REFUSE TO BELIEVE. THIS IS A VERY POOR LEVEL OF SERVICE.
