Excellent site

A site so conveniently positioned for the start or finish of a Scottish holiday. Easy access to Glasgow and wonderful public facilities in Strathclyde Park on the doorstep. There is a constant noise of traffic from the M74, but one's brain easily dumbs it out.

Back Again

Just spent 3 days here with very good weather for May.  The road works are a bit of a problem with some noise but you get used to it.  There seems to have been roadworks here for a few years now, lets hope they will finish before next year!  The site is well kept and Loo block very clean.  Wifi works well.  A Toby Carvery is just outside the site and worth a visit.  We have noticed Travellers on the site who disrespect the speed limits and throw waste water over the grass. A bit of a worry!

City gem

The site is situated perfectly to visit Glasgow or Edinburgh. It's location to the M74 means at the moment there's noise but it's the roadworks that's being carried out - the site itself is quite restful. It's best to come off at Junction 6 if you're travelling up from the south as it takes you round the lake where you could pull up for a while and enjoy the scenery before hooking up. Great for families there's an amusement park and lots to do in the country park. I'll definitely be calling again.

Directions

An excellent site all round but ensure that you use the latest website directions to this site as the M74 directions as per the handbook are a nightmare.

Convenient overnight stop

This site is convenient for Glasgow. Although there is major work being done close by, I didn't find this too intrusive. There are 2 restaurants within walking distance and the toilet block is very nice. The staff are extremely helpful. I've stayed here twice and would stay again.

poor site

Close to noisy traffic. Site very basic. More like a CL site with shower block. Worst club site we have ever stayed at. If we are in this area again we will find a quite laybye as it would be a better option. Tv point did not work either.

A Great Site

We stayed here in early May for 4 nights on a fully serviced pitch. As expected the welcome was first class from the team and setting up was a doddle. The shower facilities are fantastic and probably the best I have ever used. The site is within walking distance of Strathclyde Water Park and 2 restaurants. Ideally situated for excursions into Glasgow and neighboring tourist attractions. Loch Lomond is 30 min drive. No TV signal so bring a cable or satellite.

Disappointing

We stayed here for one night on our way to Altnaharra as it is approximately half way between there and home. We booked a service pitch for the night so we wouldn't have to fill / drain aqua rolls and waste tanks etc. The service pitches are set out so you can only reverse onto them on the right hand side of the water point. If you have to go on the left, you either have to have a double length standard hose (or 2 standards joined together) or you have to go nose first. We had to go on the left of the water point as there were only 2 pitches available and they were both on the left (we now kniow why). Not a problem going nose first with a motor mover but it would have been awful without one as the shingle was fairly deep and loose. However, going nose in presented another problem - the waste outlets on our Bailey were now at the farthest point away from the drain. Luckily, I'd just bought an extra 5 metres of grey pipe and it only just stretched to the drain point. The warden was not very helpful and suggested we complain to the club as they could not get anything changed themselves. The idea of getting a good rest before the next 250 miles to Altnaharra went out of the window as the road works generators on the very nearby M74 project started up and road work trucks etc. trundled around for most of the evening. In fact, I was so tired the following morning, we decided to cancel our stop over at this site on the way back and do the 500 odd miles in one go, which turned out to be less stressful than staying at Strathclyde. I see there are other good reviews on here but I can only presume they are based on the numerous things there are to do in the area and not on the sitre itself. The aesthetics of the site are poor. Few trees, chainmail fences all round. A massive storage site is the first thing you see on the way in and possibly has more appeal than the site itself! Not impressed for what it cost to stay here.

First visit

This was our first but not the last visit to  Strathclyde CC. Throughly enjoyed our stay being able to visit so many places not been to before. Recommended are the Riverside Museum, a very novel way displaying vehicles through the ages, Rosslyn Chapel near Edinburgh also worth a visit. If not been to Glasgow before the open top bus tour is also a good way to spend the day.  As always the facilities were "top notch". The wardens, Phil and Chris were especially helpful with their time getting my iPad and laptop on line. Thank you.

Very good site

Ideal hardstanding for motorhome. Excellent facilities and very helpful wardens. My three year old granddaughter loved the playpark where she could meet other children. Facilities including cafe at the park adjacent to the site were excellent. The walks and cycle routes round the loch are very family friendly.
