A Good Stopover

We stayed at this site for two nights on our way back south from a trip to Scotland. The site is very well placed near the motorway junction, although this did cause some traffic noise. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The toilet block was immaculately clean. There were actually two toilet blocks but one was permanently closed. This was surprising for such a modern site. Pitches were spacious and level. What more could you ask for? The adjacent country park was well worth a visit with access from site and a good walk around the lake. We would definitely use this site again as a stopover for a couple of nights.

Great Country Park

We stopped off at Strathclyde Club Site for three nights to bring our two week holiday to an end. On arrival the site is very well maintained, lovely herbs for visitors to enjoy. Yes there is some roadworks at this junction but to be honest travelling from the north we did not experience any problems, also we were surprised at the level of noise, it was not at all as bad as it was made out to be. Lovely country park to walk around, we were very impressed. We made a visit to the Kelpies, which I must say is outstanding and well worth a visit. We enjoyed an evening meal and a breakfast at the Toby carvery, which was very good value and within walking distance from the site. good base to explore the surrounding cities.

overnight stay

Ideal stopover on route to highlands due to location next to motorway. However near busy main road with traffic noise - currently road works. Toilets very clean. Very good for dog walking.

Large and open site.

A great site with easy access to Glasgow and all that it has to offer. Once the road construction work has been completed the site will return to a quiet and peaceful location. Always very friendly and helpful staff available and they keep the site immaculate.

Not for us

We had an overnight here on the way from Kendal to Skye. We were so disappointed with our choice. There is a good layout on arrival and it was nice to see a planter of herbs that you could help yourself to. I know that the staff have to make sure that everyone is aware of the rules, but I felt talked down to (hopefully not a reflection of the wardens’ previous experience). Having been at Kendal with loads of space and only half a dozen or so pitches within sight in each area we felt the pitches were crowded and close. The grass was well manicured – in fact the area around our caravan was mown, then mown again, and again, and again. I lost count how many times but possibly six times in a row. The dog walk is not exactly through woods, there are some trees but it goes around the edge of the caravan storage area, it was lovely to walk on as bark chippings are used on the path so it is nice and springy. Facilities were clean but I didn’t really appreciate the music. The road works carrying on until very late at night did not bother us but we had trouble getting on to the motorway as junction 5 was closed when we left and the ‘helpful’ sign near the exit simply said to join at junction 4 without any clue how to get to it. We will be looking for other overnight sites on future visits to Skye and the North of Scotland.

Five star

This site is excellent, large pitches, brilliant toilet block. Good walking into the adjacent country park. Good dog walk but did give our pup a shock when he saw fox whilst using it.

Great Stopover

Great site. Handy for the M74 when going North or South. Toby Carvery and other eateries nearby. Also great for the train into Glasgow from Blantyre where the car park is free (!) and a day return is £4.00 an adult. The road works are noticeable, but didn't spoil our stay, and will be finished one day!

Location, location, location

Nice site, good choice of pitches most with high level of privacy and space, mixed level of friendliness from wardens on arrival, facilities put under a little bit of pressure when site busy, however, this site is all about location. Next to motorway and great for trips locally or to the North and stopping at on the way back South. I have stopped here a few times and will continue to for trips to and from Scotland

Great stopover

Great stopover on the way up to the highlands....especially good for dog owners as there is lots of great walking  and fields for playing fetch on your doorstep. Also a Toby carvery restaurant if you don't want to cook. Site itself is very pleasant with excellent toilet, wash and shower block and very helpful friendly staff

Grand

Stayed here for one night on a stopover south. Very clean and tidy site and facilities. No fault at all with them. There is noticeable traffic noise but you soon get used to it. Highly recommend it.
