Great Site

Great site there is some road noise but didn't spoil our stay. Toilet block scrupulously clean site very well kept, But one of the best assets of this site are the wardens the Welsh lady in particular what a friendly helpful obliging lady makes you feel very welcome and is just so helpful nothing is a bother. We'll be back loved it and there is so much to do within a short distance whether the weather is wet or dry .

Great site

We visited Strathclyde twice over the past week. Once going up to Scotland and once coming back. The site is great, perfect location for a one night stop straight off the M74 roundabout with a pub and restaurant 200 yards away. Yes you do get a small amount of noise from the motorway but honestly it's not intrusive, just a distant sound. For those stopping a few days longer there is the kids theme park about half a mile away. Friendly wardens as well.

Into The Road Works.

A lot of mid Scotland is simply road works currently with the M73, M74, M8 and A90 all being developed. However this site remains an ideal location for visiting the central Scotland belt and will be much better for that once all the current roadworks are completed. Coming from the South, we approached the site from J6 and drove through Strathclyde Park rather than attempting the Raith J5. After a friendly welcome from the wardens we pitched up in the only remaining serviced pitch - the club really need to recognise the demand for such serviced pitches. We were there for 8 nights first week of August and despite the roadworks on two sides, it was relatively peaceful apart from the few occasions when the noisy road sweeper cleaned the approach road. Facilities were immaculate and the Smooth radio piped stream in the toilet block effectively deterred those annoying off-key whistlers. The wifi was flaky with many 'server not found' and 'Wifi portal is not working' messages. The missing logout tab reappeared after two days only to keep disappearing and re-appearing and the logout command was unreliable. I was pleased to learn from a previous reviewer that the train service into Glasgow was so effective from Blantyre and with me not being an inveterate shopper, it was good to drop my wife and daughter there for a shopping trip into Glasgow, while I took the opportunity to cycle around the loch. Great paths to walk or cycle around but don't go onto the grass areas as I have never seen such pollution by dog owners. An enjoyable stay that will not be our last. It is a nicely maturing site having been just a basic council site only a short time ago, before the club took it over. It is ideally placed for visiting much of the central Scotland belt once all the roadworks are completed. This, our second stay will not be the last.

Not just an overnight stopover.

This is an ideal overnight stop for people travelling further north as it has very easy access from the M74. It is also very convenient for visiting Glasgow which has now many refurbished attractions for tourists. We used the site for an extended visit to Glasgow and as a stopping off point because we went up the West coast to Dingwall and then returned by central route via Braemar and Perth. The proximity of the Country Park facilities is ideal for families and there is plenty scope for eating out at reasonable prices.

Dog poo on the pitch

The site is huge and looked lovely, the pitch was too tough to get our awning secured into; perhaps too much hardcore under the gravel. It was forecast for high winds so we had to weight down the awning to ensure my kids weren't blown away overnight.  There was dog poo in the gravel, really disappointing considering the cleanliness of the facilities.

Overnight Stopover

Very neat, tidy and clean site clearly well looked after - credit to the dedicated staff. Pleasant stopover coming back from the Hebrides. Nearby park has lots of fun facilities for children and pleasant for walkers, cyclists and keep fitters. Some road noise as near road works at major junction. Can't comment on situation with Glasgow sight seeing, but I did notice a sign for the minibus to the city. Would like to come again with more time to explore.
