Just my view

Have used this site many times, it's perfect for a stop over or longer stay. Site is always clean, tidy, and toilets have piped music what more do you need. Nice Toby for a meal just a short walk from the site.

Not as bad as we thought

We've just returned from this site and after reading some reviews before we left, we thought we were in for a few sleepless nights. Ye there was some noise during the day but we never heard a thing when we went to bed so a decent nights sleep was had. The site itself was lovely and clean as was the toilet block. Very nice stay and we're due to return in November can't wait.

Site maturing nicely

Our second visit to this site on a Scotland holiday, first time not long after site opened around four years ago. This site is maturing well, trees, hedge screenings etc. A large site with storage facility, but you do not feel in a vast area with the way pitches designed and the now mature shrubbery. Site spotless regarding cleanliness, toilets etc., praise to the wardens. Its country park setting with its loch offers peace and tranquillity. OKAY, TEMPORARILY SPOILT by the adjacent major road works and improvements, but understand from speaking to locals these are due to be completed around March next year. Noted the construction of an underpass which may even reduce further noise level in future. We took opportunity this visit to go into Glasgow, took the train (frequent service) from nearby - around two mile drive away - Bellshill Station. Some twenty mins. into the City, and a combined day ticket include Glasgow subway at £ 6.60, you can use all local trains in area for the day, not just Bellshill to Glasgow and back if you want. Great nostalgic day as we visited Scotland Street school museum, and the National trust tenement house. Much easier than using car to visit Glasgow. Much to do in the area, so don't think this is just a one night stopover site, take advantage of the excellent facilities and the pleasant nature of this site, present temporary roadworks noise excepted.

Throw away your preconceptions.

If like me you thought a site close to a city wouldn't be your cup of tea, forget it. This is one helluva site, large level pitches, immaculate, roomy toilet block, convenient as a stopover on the way to or from the Highlands, but don't just use it as that, there are lovely walks around the Loch or woodlands, a theme park for the kids, so well worth a longer stay. At the moment there are works around the Motorway junction but what noise there was didn't detract from our enjoyment of this site and as Arnie said "We'll be back!"

best site I visited

The site was the best and cleanest I have visited. The wardens go beyond the call of duty and work extremely hard on keeping the ground and facilities to such a high standard. One of the wardens spend time on shown me have to park my caravan in half time that it usual takes.

ROAD WORKS OMG

Night time works going on JACK HAMMERS started around 20:00hrs and continued most of the night, constant rumble of engines and Heavy Plant/Vehicle Movements. Wish i had known the full extent of the noise issues and works being carried out.....i would not have booked !! Before anyone tries to shoot me down in flames, this is a true reflection (when i stayed) of what was going on outside the Caravan Site. I would stay here again but not until all the works have finished. The C.C should have been more honest about the true extent of noise issues on the Site. Its a shame because the grounds, toilet block and facility's are top notch, Staff are lovely.

Immaculate site

We only stayed one night on this site but would definitely stay again when touring Scotland. Although it is very close to the motorway, where extensive roadworks are being done, we didn't really hear too much noise. It certainly didn't spoil our stay. It is a very spacious site with fantastic shower blocks. There is a lovely walk by the lake and a fairground park which makes it a fantastic site for families.

Good site, well up to standard.

Visited mid - September 2016. An excellent site with good facilities, situated in a pleasant location. As usual friendly and really helpful wardens. This site is predictably well up to the usual high standards that you would expect from the Caravan Club. There is one slight problem. This site has ( usually) excellent access to the M74. This is currently hindered by carriageway widening and subsequent junction renewal. This does cause a lot of background noise right through the night. If you are a sound sleeper, this may not cause you too much of a problem. If you are a light sleeper or easily disturbed, you should bear this in mind if you stay here. This is totally beyond control of the Caravan Club and may ( at the time of writing) be ongoing for some considerable time yet. If you feel able to ignore this, then the rest of the site is fine, pleasant location, nice facilities and really helpful Wardens. I would not hesitate to return here, but preferably once the roadworks have completed !

Holiday ruined by noise of roadworks

Caravan Club should pre warn customers of HORRIC noise all day .... construction vehivles, traffic  and a horrid view of the Holiday Inn and an eye sore of a storage facility.  If we had known would never have booked and paid for a 2 week holiday
