Why?

The first thing I asked was "Why are we going to this site"! The answer was "Glasgow". There is a mini-bus which runs to the center of Glasgow daily at a cost of £7.50 (or less is in a group) It returns at a pre-arranged time in the afternoon. Glasgow has three outstanding art galleries (The Burrel. Kelvingrove and the Huntarian) as well as the Riverside with a magnificent collection of Transport items. The site is large and flat. As the previous reviewer states it is subject to the continuous of road "hum" which you soon get used to. It has one of the best on site dog walks (about 800 meters) aa well has great walks in the park and surrounding woods. There are two restaurants within easy walking distance i.e. 400 meters. Well worth a visit.

A bit noisy but great

We've just come back of a weekend in this site. The site itself is nice, the toilets are always in pristine conditions, and the wardens are extremely friendly, and quite patient with customer arriving late, like in my case... The only downside is that it is too close to the main roads (A74 and A725), and on top of that, the works in junction 5 in the M74 make the site a bit noisy and a bit too close to "civilization". Having said that, it is a great location to use as basecamp and drive around. The Country park is a lovely place to visit, we also visited the Museum of Rural Life, just 8 miles away. In summary, a very well run site, with facilities maintained to high standards, and lovely wardens.

Gateway to the highlands

One of the best situated site I know of, just off the M74 about 12 miles from Glasgow it is clean flat and friendly but best of all site adjacent to a Toby carvery. This way our second visit the first heading North involved a day trip to Glasgow, parked in a park and ride outside which had all the CCTV coverage you could desire and had an underground stop next door, this time we were travelling South so after the traffic around Glasgow the site and Toby were a welcome stop. Major roadworks are being done on the M74 turnoff so traffic noise and all night working could be an issue for some and has been going on well over 2 years now but don't let this put you off.

Good find

We are pleased we have found this site. Very clean showers etc. Spacious pitches, pleasant wardens. Not as noisy as we expected being so close to motorway and road works. Road works are a nightmare. We will use again .

An Oasis!

What a relief to arrive after tangling with traffic and road-works that exemplify the area around Glasgow these days! A definite oasis of calm, and ideal for exploring the city - make use of Tom and his mini-bus! Spotless site, great facilities and the wardens could not be more helpful. And when you do decide to escape, the M74 is on the doorstep. John & Sharon K.

Gateway to Scotland

Lovely site very easy to find and a great base for us to explore Scotland. Loved the local radio being piped into all the washing and showering areas. Made us want to stay in there longer. Very clean. Notihung was too much trouble for the warden who was very helpful and pleasant. We will be returning as an as possible.

Immaculate site

I use this site often on my way home to the north of Scotland. The wardens are so welcoming and the facilities are of a very high standard. It would be lovely to have a longer stay.
