Learners…..

First trip in a motorhome and thankful for the gracious, unpatronising help from the wardens. The only downside for this site is the lack of hook up but now we understand why. This is a gem of a site, nicely close to a fascinating town with so many transport possibilities. Even though the weather wasn’t the best, we found lots to do and places to visit by bus, boat or on foot. Steamer Quay was very well maintained and the facilities were clean and adequate. So sad that it may not remain a site for the future.

Great location

Lovely wardens. Understandably, due to the short lease, there is no hook up and the facilities are a bit tired and dated but clean. It's the location, just a short stroll to the centre of Totnes with all the busy shops, pubs, restaurants and Dart river trips, that makes this site, but it's still peaceful. It's a prime development site, so how long will it last?

Back Again

We loved this little site last year so much so that here we are again!  It's so central with lots to see in the town plus lovely pubs for a great meal at low prices (Dartmouth Arms - just across the bridge, turn left an walk a few yards and it's on the right). Downsides are no power but there is a loo block and motorhomes need a bucket as there is no emptying point.  Just have a few early nights!

Lovely location and perfect size

We stayed at Steamer Quay for four nights at the end of August.  The site is compact and well laid out  without feeling in any way cramped and is located across the road from Dartmouth ferry office with lovely walks along the river in both directions.  Do walk in the Dartington direction and visit the steam railway and wildlife centre - lovely cafe opposite the railway station.  Totnes is on your doorstep - interesting shops and plenty of places to eat and drink many of which are dog friendly. River trip to Dartmouth is recommended but check times as they vary according to the tides. Lack of electric hook-up didn't bother us at all (probably adds to its peaceful feel) and the toilet block, whilst dated, is spotless and functional - the hairdrier was much appreciated.

Good site but.

It really is time this site had electric hook up. I would use this site more often but I do look for alternative sites because of it's reluctance to do so. Wonderful location but fails in this respect I'm afraid.

Great location for town

Stayed as a stopover for 1 night in our motorhome, Totnes right on your doorstep so didnt have to drive anywhere. Totnes very alternative new age place with lots of crystal and health food shops. Bit like a smaller brighton, Nice place shame about the beggars in the high street. You can catch a ferry to other places if you want to explore the river. Showers not the best but its not about that.

peaceful yet accessible

Revisited Steamer Quay after absence several nothing much changed it is still lovely peaceful site and close to Totnes town and supermarket plus river trips. wardens do a good job but i do think new modern toilet block could have been built. also no EHU which may be ok for some but i would have thought the club would have invested in EHU. The excuse years ago was the local council would not give long enough lease that does not bear out now

Steamer quay

We really enjoyed being here, perhaps everybody might not --- no electric, showers getting on a bit, some houses behind our pitch with some noise, dog barking etc and a lot of seagull noise from the roofs--- I'm used to seagulls so okay. Just a short stroll into totnes-- brilliant, and the round robin trip is great only 100 yards away to catch boat, can't beat that

One of our favourites

Just spent two nights here, should have stayed longer! Love the fact that it doesn't offer and charge for things we don't need. But best of all it's within the town's environs, rather than miles away. Could hardly be handier for public transport too. Friendly helpful wardens - we know as we went earlier this year when the ground was wet and causing a few of us difficulties in leaving. However, please don't book as we shan't be able to get in...
