EXCELLENT ASSISTANT WARDENS

We have just returned home from another beautiful holiday at Southport site and what made that holiday for us was the friendliness of Colin & Denise the Assistant Wardens on the site they are always smiling and so helpful no matter if it's a question regarding the site or the locality of a good restaurant in the area, they are always on hand with their help and information.... this couple are a pure joy to deal with at Southport Site. They truly deserve to be promoted to main wardens with their own site. I have read further reviews before making this one today, yes Southport can be expensive but you do get what you pay for! It's within walking distance (if you are able) to Lord Street, Amusements or beach and restaurants are all local as well. we have visited many sites this year and this is bar far one of our top 3 sites within the Caravan and Motorhome Club massive list..... we will be back in October for another visit to Southport, keep up the GREAT work Colin & Denise xx

Good for touring around local and afar

Really good base for all to explore either walking, cycling or driving the many places to visit slightly expensive too many high, low seasons? But lovely site will return and recommend. Pitch choice was available at the time we arrived which was welcomed.

very busy very expensive

We had a small parking problem that other caravaners helped us out with. Thank you to them for stepping forward and helping. Some pitches have poor tv reception due in part to the trees. No area to turn if you go left from the office and decide you want to check out the other pitches on the rest of the site. The cost for the site is to high. We have a four birth caravan and have two children over 18 years who often travel with us but thankfully they did not want to come on this occassion or we would have paid over £50 for a single night stay. Not just a Southport problem though. Staff were instructive and helpful on the occassion we needed some help. We noticed a few people driving to fast but this is not the fault of the site. Please all slow down we are all on holiday, chill out.

Great Location, one mile from Lord Street

Warmly welcomed & offered choice of pitches based on needs. Site Wardens helpful & friendly. Site routinely kept tidy & presentable. There are whingers who follow Govmt Inflation figures instead of reality. Their loss. This is a lovely site & a credit to all involved.

Not a holiday for us

Very expensive. Poor serviced pitches as water leads have to be very long as shared and not by your caravan. Pitches108/9 avoid at all costs, only 9 serviced pitches in total so limits you to 7 others. Lots of members were actually swapping pitches due to complaints about generators out back ( on the park field) as events going on all day! Member should know about such things prior to booking. I've never experienced caravans being moved like this, ridiculous. One female staff member was quite rude regarding the pitch 108 when mentioned the walk way to toilet block being a problem. I don't come away on holiday to be spoken to like this. Quite bossy! Man was nice though. Strict on one way system and speed which I agree with however some people seemed not to get "wrong" about this, parking 2 cars at their caravan and blocking main road....this is not allowed on c.c sites! No play area which I think for the price, that there should be. Plus side... toilets were new and kept clean. Sadly due to numerous bad issues I will not not returning to Southport caravan club site

Open Golf 2017

This was our 3rd stop on our way to the Open Golf at Royal Birkdale and we booked it because of the close proximity to the course. Once again the facilites were first class and all wardens were very helpful and a mine of information!! We pitched on the older part of the site which was very quiet even later on in the day so cannot comment on previous reviews which state the road leading to the site can be noisy with 'boy racers' but this could be due to the road being closed for the golf. The Park & Ride facility for the golf was about a quarter of a mile away and easy to find. We walked in to the town of Southport which has a lovely main street with lots of individual shops as well as high street names. We also walked down to the sea front and along the pier. All in all a very pleasant stay. A seaside site is not normally our first choice but we were very happy with our stay. However we did think £32.50 per night a little expensive.

Great Weekend at the Golf

Booked this site as was attending the Open Golf at Royal Birkdale which turned out to only be a 20 minute walk away so was perfect. I arrived earlier than Midday but was allowed to book in and find a pitch (thank you). The toilet block was spotless as well as being large inside therefore providing enough showers/toilets meaning we didn't have to queue to use. The wardens we're very helpful and welcoming. The pitches we're also very big and certainly didn't feel like I was 'on top' of my neighbours. I would recommend this site and if/when the Open returns to Royal Birkdale in the future I would have no hesitation in booking here again.

Southport revisited

Great site that is well maintained by the staff. Check in was a bit frosty but in fairness I was early after a lonnnggg drive from Dorset and I was allowed to pitch up. Please note that the days of queuing down the lane on double yellows are gone so a Noon arrival is a must if you don't want to get off on the wrong foot. As said great location with loads to see and do. Toilets spotless until the little treasures have been in in a few times 😉 Southport is still one of our favourites for all the right reasons. Well done the wardens 👍

Very nice but a couple of comments

Very nice site and a great location but have a couple of comments. Agree with recent comment that Service Pitch 109 (and to some degree 108) are best avoided due the installation of a new footpath to the Toilet Block. Members now walk right across these pitches to access the footpath. Also the electrical cable and water hose arrangement for pitch 109 creates a slips, trips and fall hazard. (One of the biggest causes of accidents and claims.) Suggest pitch 109 is given its own electric hook and water point with the footpath being fenced off upto the front of the grass area between the two pitches. Ideally consideration should be given to taking Pitch 109 out of service until it his is done. The other comments is the large number of dogs on site and the way their owners use it as one big dog walk. The number of brown patches in the grass is evidence of this, Barking can be problem early morning and late at night when the rest of the site is quiet. Other the above Southport may not be as grand as in years gone by but it is still worth a visit. It is generally level for walking. Westminster Tea Rooms and the Fishermans Rest are worth a visit for food and refreshments.

Usual Club high standards

This is the second time we have stayed here. The managers were extremely helpful and informative, the site was immaculately kept but nothing could be done about the noise that came from motorcycles and high powered cars that seemed to use the roads around the site as a race track. We are also very much concerned with the proliferation of those nasty Satanic speed humps that the Club seems determined to put in all Club sites, even at 5 m.p.h. the caravan hops over these bumps, it is almost Immpossible to go over them with a caravan on comfortably. A ramp up to the same height with a flat about a metre long at the top and a ramp down the other side would do the job and be much kinder to the caravan. I am sure the Club members who use the sites regularly will agree with me. PLEASE,PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE listen to us.
