We’ve visited this site a number of times and it’s never disappointed. A great location and very popular. At the time of visiting the C&CC were holding a Raleigh of some sort in the Park next door so Southport was busy. The only Minor niggle this time was the Wi-fi which in the older part of the site seemed to be more or less non existent. It was either ‘unavailable’ when trying to log on, didn’t show up at all or was so slow as to be useless. A bit frustrating when you’ve paid for the service.
Easter by the dunes
Arrived at Southport Caravan site on good Friday. We arrived at 12noon to check in. We were greeted by the staff and they were extremely friendly. Check in was swift and we were given some tourist information to help us navigate the area which was useful.
On this visit we had our springer and all though there was no designated dog walking area a suitable area was just a few minutes from the site.
The weather was pretty hit and miss during our stay but that didn't dampen our enthusiasm.
We had a nice meal in town a little Indian restaurant just off the high Street. This was good value for money and the staff were very pleasant.
On the Saturday we went to the fisherman's rest public house.
We had 4 adults and 3 children as my husbands family live in Liverpool and it was easy for them to pop along to see us.
The food in the fisherman's was good just basic pub food and not to pricy.
The walk into town was about 10 minute's away and on route a big morrisons store for anything you've forgotten.
There is a great amusement park to keep kids entertained. We have been here before whilst babysitting and it is quite pricy but plenty to do and it's wristbands to go on rides.
There is plenty of walking in the area especially with a dog. It was quite muddy due to the weather but in summer it would be great.
The site it's self was immaculate and as usual the toilets and showers were very clean. I just wish people would flush when they use the loo
the toilet blocks are closed from around 2.45 for cleaning and this means that you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to get showered before cleaning as on some sites. You also need a key to access the toilet blocks I think because of the walking trails it stops non paying people from using them.
All in all we had a great 4 days.
I highly recommend this site and will definitely be going back again in the future and hopefully better weather
Brilliant first stay as new caravan owners
We stayed at the Southport Club site last weekend. We are complete novices to caravanning and this was our first outing. We know Southport well and thought the location of the site was perfect, right in the Esplanade within walking distance to everything. The Wardens were particularly helpful, friendly and very informative. We asked for a pitch near to the shower blocks as our child has mobility difficulties. I have to say that they were the cleanest I have ever seen! As earlier reviews have said they are immaculate and heated too, which is a real bonus in the cold weather! The whole site is beautifully maintained.
We will definitely stay again and can't wait to explore the other club sites!
Clean pleasant site
Within easy walking distance of the town and the Southport pier and entertainments area. Options of walking via roads or leaving the site via 1 of the 2 footpaths at the far side and walking through the park (nb park closes i the evening - but you can still walk through the footpath adjacent to the main park and access the kids playground. No noise on site despite being close to everything. Toilet blocks seem quite new and are immaculate. No complaints at all.
Worth noting - When we left Sunday there was a large car meet in the park and all the traffic from every direction eventually ends up at the roundabout at the road into the site so anyone coming in Sunday lunch time would experience massive delays (the queues stretched miles out of Southport) - so best check for events when booking (can't imagine what it's like when the flower show is on). Overall a great site and fantastic with dogs with places to walk all around. Kids would have a great time in the park, in Southport and on the beaches and sand dunes.
Excellent site
Enjoyed a winter weekend on this excellent site. All facilities top notch and wardens helpful and welcoming. An ideal location for walking into town and along the seafront to the pier. Plenty to see and do nearby. Highly recommended. The Club's directions from the south recommend leaving the M6 at J26 for the M58, but as the M6 was as static as usual we left at J21A and went via M62 and M57 which is probably quicker and just as easy.
Great Site
This is a lovely site, we have used it twice now, once with our Grand Daughter and once on our own. It is suitable for both with easy access to Southport walking or cycling. There is direct access to a lovely park which was great for dog walking.
An Excellent Late Winter Break
We think it was 1988 the first time we visited and have returned just about every year since then. It has improved over the years and it proves that by the site size increases that have taken place throughout that time. Its position by the park makes it easy to walk into the town centre to enjoy the shops and restaurants that are plentiful. The site wardens changed whilst we were there, seamlessly, the facilities were perfect, as always and although it did snow in the week it did not hamper our stay. As ever we will be back within the next 12 months.
Excellent Winter break and first time visit to this site.
After heavy snow fall we were able to get away to Southport. We had to delay our journey by one day due to poor road and weather conditions. However, on contacting the site the Wardens fully understood our plight and just asked us to let them know when we planned to arrive. We arrived on 4th March and stayed until 10th. The greeting was excellent from the "stand In " Wardens who also came over to see if they could assist me with a frozen water pump. The site is ideal for walking in to Southport Town Centre, lovely Parks nearby. The toilet and shower facilities were excellent, clean and lovely and warm. We travelled in to Liverpool on two occasions getting the train from Birkdale, you can park your car on the side roads, although there is a car park at the station. Fully met our expectations.
Great location
Nice site, worth having bikes for making the most of the local cycle routes and getting to/from toilet block if you’re down the thin wedge end of the site.
Kids loved how near splash world we were and 10 mins from the centre on foot.
Lots to do without driving anywhere even in March.
Morrison’s nearby is handy too.
Friendly staff at the campsite.

Loveley break but some members should have gone to Specsavers
As usual the Wardens & site were very good for a short break after the wet winter period. Weather very cold but sunny and gave us time to test the van after a winter lay-up. Satellite reception OK, but did not try aerial reception. Site was full for the weekend, although newer end of site not open.
Nice walk to Ainsdale & then back through the golf courses to Birkdale. Visited Southport but this seems to be going the way of many towns, with lots of empty shops. Lord street not what it used to be.
Had a very good meal at The Fishermans Rest (5 mins walk from site) which has a good menu & daily specials. Also a selection of Real ales which were in good condition.
The big disappointment was that quite a few members obviously cannot read speed signs and merrily treat the roads as an extension of the main highways, not great when children playing. However the parents who let unsupervised very young children ride bikes against the flow of traffic, astound me.
Apart from the gripe, a very enjoyable short break.
