Great Stay at Southport

Lovely site. We had a nice pitch in the newer end of the site away from the slightly flooded grass areas. Our pitch was faultless and was immaculately kept. This site is situated in an excellent spot with the parks, beach, local amenities and Town all within easy walking distance. Site staff very friendly and helpful throughout our stay and all a me ities kept immaculate. I only took a star off peacefulness due to being at the end of the site nearest the road so had some traffic noise. Not excessive and would choose the same pitch again. And a star off the good for families due to the facilities for families like a park etc all being all off site. However off site there is an abundance to do very nearby with children and our own children were anything but bored whilst we stayed there. Overall a great site and will revisit in the future!

returning to southport

As always with this site the facilities are immaculate and well done to the wardens. The wardens are all cheerful and welcoming, cannot be faulted. The floral displays at the entrance is also impressive. Southport has everything you want for a great holiday and lots to see and visit around the area Suggestions for this site would be to improve the television reception, an opportunity was lost when they upgraded the site, and considering the high cost of the site it would have been beneficial to include this. The flooding on the new area is also a problem, and the wardens must dread heavy rain and then dealing with complaints, proper draining on the problem pitches is essential and should be addressed effectively in the close season. Also in these environmentally focused times perhaps tree and shrub planting on this area would be of benefit and may also help with the drainage.

Lovely weekend

Stayed at the site this weekend as I was visiting an event at Southport Botanic Gardens. The site is very well kept and within easy walk of Southport town centre / the seafront and also the piers. My only gripe would be that the drinking water tap has no screw fittings so you can’t attach your filling hose to it for your aqua roll. (I was on the old part of the site). Site was full but all toilets and showers were kept clean and bins emptied very regularly. Enjoyed walking home to the site via the 2p arcades in town. Would definitely stay here again.

Great stay

Stayed here for 3 nights in our motorhome. Lovely welcoming wardens on site. Site is well kept and had beautiful well kept planters on entrance. We were in the new part of the site, there had been heavy rain before we arrived and some pitches were flooded and out of use. Still plenty of pitches for us to choose from. Toilet blocks were immaculate and good size. Never had to wait on a shower becoming available. Good walk into Southport and along the sea front. Victoria park is close to the site that was good for walking the dogs in, entrance into this from the site. We walked along the sand dunes then along the beach to Formby, absolutely stunning clean beach. Got the bus back to Southport, good service. Have a young dog so too far to walk back. Morrisons close by for any supplies, lots of shops and eating places in Southport. Southport Pleasure-land only opened at the weekend when we were there in June.

Great site

Have stayed here a number of times and have enjoyed each stay. We arrived much later than planned on our last visit to find reception closed but the warden waiting inside for us to arrive. Told us what pitches were available, disappointed at our choice of 2 in the same lane on the older part of the site, would not have chosen any of them had we arrived earlier. Next day lots of people left and we could have moved but had already lost a day so chose to stay where we were. A very long walk to the toilet block but always clean. When leaving a few units waiting to book in but as in the past they had to wait until 12 o'clock as per the rules.

Great modern site in excellent location

The wardens worked very hard to keep the site and shower blocks immaculately clean at all times, despite some inconsiderate members not being acquainted with the toilet brush. Excellent location, 15 minute walk through a park into town and and to Morrisons and B&M. Some noise very occasionally from local boy racers but not a big issue. The site was very busy, with only a few vacant pitches, and I can understand just why it's so popular. Lots to do, very nice town, good transport links, park and ride nearby, trains to Liverpool etc. Good walks around the many parks and marine lake, also along the pier and seafront. Our favourite site

Great Location

Stayed here for 3 nights end of June. Friendly warden booked us in and explained the site layout, we went to the new open area. Our TV, EE mobile signal and internet all worked well. There are 2 toilet blocks on this site, one is closed for cleaning in the morning and one in the afternoon so going for a shower etc is not a problem. Enjoyed our stay and will return here again in the future.

Need to catch up with weeding.

Apart from the weather we enjoyed our stay again. Handy for walks on sea front and walking into town centre. We were a bit put out to see that thistles were being allowed to grow to quite a size o the grass areas and one against a electric point was full height. We can understand not spraying with weed killer but surely these could be cut just below the surface with a long handled sharp tool and then picked up. Felt like doing it myself just to show how easy it is.

Southport in the Rain

It is the 2nd time we have been to Southport, the extension is very big, but it is obvious some of the pitches need better drainage. The weather during our stay was VERY bad, but mostly came during the evening. The TV reception is NOT good and a booster would be much better. The site is excellent for walking into Southport and Birkdale, and there are many restaurants and bars in the town. Some people were speeding on the site and driving the wrong way. It would be better to warn people about Marine Drive, as the road is very bumpy and with a caravan you need to drive SLOWLY.

Not a great stay!

Not a great week, was't impressed with the standard of the site due to the fact it was petty much flooded out all week, we had laying water under our van and awning that wasn't draining away another night and the water would have swamped us out. The pitches at the side and back of us were completely submerged in water! There was no signs of any drainage at all on the site and the middle of the site was a duck pound! I found this annoying because when we arrived a few pitches were coned off due them being flooded but why not cone the rest off? or an area at least? Talking to other caravanners who have been to this site many times before have said that the drainage and flooding of the pitches has always been the same and poor. This club site would automatically know which pitches are prone to flooding so why not cone them off in advanced especially with the adverse weather we have had forecast. The caravan near us had to move pitches and so did a couple more. The road leading to the site was like a river! It is also worth noting that it is extremely dodgy after dark with suspicious parked vehicles cruising up and down. Also there is a public foot path going straight through the middle of the site from the dunes to the park which is why the toilet blocks are permanently locked and you are given a key no good if there are more than two of you in your caravan. This automatically put us off as we didn't feel the site over all was secure for a club site and the price we paid it certainly wasn't cheap. It is also worth noting that there is no tv aerial booster point or signal on site. We won't be returning again this year.
