Southport in the Rain

It is the 2nd time we have been to Southport, the extension is very big, but it is obvious some of the pitches need better drainage. The weather during our stay was VERY bad, but mostly came during the evening. The TV reception is NOT good and a booster would be much better. The site is excellent for walking into Southport and Birkdale, and there are many restaurants and bars in the town. Some people were speeding on the site and driving the wrong way. It would be better to warn people about Marine Drive, as the road is very bumpy and with a caravan you need to drive SLOWLY.

Not a great stay!

Not a great week, was't impressed with the standard of the site due to the fact it was petty much flooded out all week, we had laying water under our van and awning that wasn't draining away another night and the water would have swamped us out. The pitches at the side and back of us were completely submerged in water! There was no signs of any drainage at all on the site and the middle of the site was a duck pound! I found this annoying because when we arrived a few pitches were coned off due them being flooded but why not cone the rest off? or an area at least? Talking to other caravanners who have been to this site many times before have said that the drainage and flooding of the pitches has always been the same and poor. This club site would automatically know which pitches are prone to flooding so why not cone them off in advanced especially with the adverse weather we have had forecast. The caravan near us had to move pitches and so did a couple more. The road leading to the site was like a river! It is also worth noting that it is extremely dodgy after dark with suspicious parked vehicles cruising up and down. Also there is a public foot path going straight through the middle of the site from the dunes to the park which is why the toilet blocks are permanently locked and you are given a key no good if there are more than two of you in your caravan. This automatically put us off as we didn't feel the site over all was secure for a club site and the price we paid it certainly wasn't cheap. It is also worth noting that there is no tv aerial booster point or signal on site. We won't be returning again this year.

The extended area of this site requires substantial investment.

The southern area of the site requires substantial investment as it is very bland and boring. No sign of any trees or shrubs and as such being so close to the coast can be very windy. During our visit at least 5 occupied pitches were flooded after heavy rain with caravan power cables submerged. No visible signs of drainage. Not a site we would wish to revisit. Southport as a town was also very disappointing,

Short stay!

Just a short break (first trip with the grandchildren!) to Southport and can echo all the previous comments apart from the speeding vehicles which we did not experience perhaps because quite quiet not school holidays. Facilities excellent. Boys loved the small play park next to site and all the attraction in the short walk to the pier which we did both days. Wardens were very helpful and efficient as always (in my experience) so a great stay thank you!

Geat site

Arrived here in May for a week This is a great site with friendly wardens who are very helpful. shower block was always kept very clean and tidy. the site is only a15 mins walk into the center which we did each morning for a coffee and watched the world go by. safe bike rides from the site along the prom and to other areas. we had fantastic weather for our 7 day stay. caught the bus into Liverpool which we really enjoyed. This was our 2 visit to this site, we will come back again. Thank you for a great holiday, and keep up the good work. Mozza.

Great site but how long before a child gets run over

This is our 4th visit to this site as a family, cannot fault the site or the wardens. Our two girls know the site well and confidently go off round the site on either the bikes scooters or walk making new friends all the time. My big bug bear is the speed people drive round the site either towing or just in there cars it says 5mph if your doing that speed you can walk at the side of the vehicle. So many times cars and cars towing fly round the site especially when they first arrive, if you hit a child at at the speeds you drive round at I wouldn't like to think of the out come, doesn't bear thinking about. I wouldn't want it on my head. Not really a review but a heads up to hopefully the caravan and motor home club to try and find a solution before a child gets seriously hurt.

Lovely, peaceful site

This site is very handy for all the attractions, shops and amenities at Southport, including the beach. Nothing is more than a short walk away. The site is spotless and peaceful and the staff very welcoming. This was not our first visit and it won't be our last.
