Southland iow

14 days at southland. A fantastic Site spotless showers and grounds. The wardens friendly and helpful. We especially liked the grass side of the site. The island is easily accessible from Southland so it's a great base. Should you enjoy quality meals then as has been mentioned the pointer Inn is the place to go

Island Beauty

A very well run site with spacious and private pitches. Very friendly and helpful wardens. The only downside is that one toilet block is insufficient at peak times. We are not put off by this and will return

Stayed for 17 nights and enjoyed every minute.one of the best sites we have stayed on. Not sure on the tent area it is a caravan club!!. Play area excellent and football area excellent. Only negative is the flushes on the toilets and the water temperature is not hot enough.we will be back next year

1st outing with Caravan Club and very impressed!

This is the 1st site we have used since joining the club and 1st time we have had a main family holiday camping and we were not disappointed! A very clean and well laid out site. The facilities are excellent and the wardens do a fantastic job keeping every thing clean and tidy. (I can not believe the mess a small minority of people seem to think it is acceptable to leave in sinks / toilets etc. and expect others to clear up after them!! I hate to think what their houses look like!) Ideal site for families as very safe for kids, and although there were lots of kids/bikes/scooters etc. when we were there, the site was never overly noisy, and amazingly quiet at night. Ideal location for touring the island, bus service is good, but as weather was not brilliant when we were there, we hired a car (easier than using our Camper van)from Value Rent a Car in Sandown,(Details in club information room) very good service and good rate, car was brand new and excellent, a real help for seeing the island. Overall (weather aside) we were really pleased with the site and the staff were all very friendly and helpful (even visited us the evening after our daughter required hospital treatment and 5 stiches in her finger, to check everything was ok. Thanks also to fellow camper, Gary, for his first aid help at the time, camping is like being in a big friendly club :-) One word of warning would be to follow the Club directions to the site as Sat Nav will take you down VERY narrow lanes with few if any passing places!) Would totally recommend this site.

Amazing Site

This is one of the best sites that we have stayed on. The location of the site is ideal for exploring many of the islands treasures. The children enjoyed the play area, and we found the site very peaceful. The facilities were kept clean and well maintained and the wardens were very friendly. Would recommend this site to other families and we will definitely be returning in the future.

Our Favourite Site

This was our 3rd time staying at this site and it never disappoints. The wardens were new this year and were extremely friendly and helpful. My son had a problem when his ball went into the nearby field at the play area and we then found out that the warden is having trouble with the landowner and we may struggle to get the ball back. He did try for us and will continue to do so with a promise that he will forward on the ball on to us if he gets it back so he is doing all he can to help. The area is beautiful and the village of Newchurch is very pretty with an excellent local pub with a beer garden and a superb menu with top quality food. The island is not too big and all parts of it are easily accessible and well worth the effort. I even took my son for a trip on the hovercraft from Ryde to Portsmouth. There is plenty for the kids to do and when given a choice of going abroad for this years holiday or going in the caravan they all chose the Isle of Wight so it must be good! We will certainly be returning to this site.

July 2015

Stayed here for the last week of July this year - a lovely site and immaculately clean throughout. Some of the local roads are a nightmare to tow on but not the sites fault obviously. My son loved the playground and spent many hours there. Nice dog walk provided - would be good to see the smaller part opposite the entrance to the dog walk sectioned off for nervous dogs. On the whole reception staff were welcoming and friendly - an odd time one of them didn't seem to want to give me the time of day - maybe because I'm on the younger side of the caravaning spectrum. The baby/toddler shower facility was a godsend and made life so much easier with my 21 month old daughter. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

The Cream of the club

Travelled via red funnel this year from Southampton to Cowes, can recommend these operators, we arrived early & they let us on, couldn't be more helpful. The site is as good as ever, very clean with very helpful & friendly staff. Just a short walk or drive to the local pub "The Pointer" for an excellent welcome and lovely meal. There's lots to do in the area, 2 weeks are not long enough, will return in the future.

Outstanding Site

This is one of the best club sites we have stayed on.  The toilet and shower block is excellent, very clean and well looked after.  The layout of the site with hedges between sections of pitches gives you a much smaller feel to the site, greater privacy and some protection from the wind, yet still enjoy the sunshine.  The staff are excellent and work very hard to keep the site looking so clean and tidy.  Lots of walking on the island, places to visit and things for children.  The local pub does a great meal but suggest you book at busy times to get a table as it is vey popular.  You can get to many places using the buses with a short walk from the site. The ferry crossing was pleasant from Southampton and reasonable price booked through the caravan club.  We will come again to complete some more of the coastal path!
