This was our first visit to Rowan Park ans very well worth it, the site is perfectly located on the edge of the town with very straight forward access to the town on foot or on public transport. Site staff compliment the high standards of the M&CC. Covid 19 arrangements are very clear and use of the toilet block managed through an inovative key arrangement. Fellow visitors respected the distance measures and were exercising good common sense. Well worth visiting.
Good for a short break
We booked this site as we just wanted a couple of nights away to acquaint ourselves with our new to us caravan. It was an ideal distance being only about 25miles from home.
The site was larger than I thought and we had a great spot which had the sun and because it was so hot had shade from the trees. There are areas of the site I would not have wanted to pitch as the vans were in what seemed to be long lines. The warden was helpful in suggesting which pitch might be best ie away from road or away from hedge
behind which building work was apparently taking place.
For people not living in the wider area of the site there are lots attractions and places to visit eg Roman palace with mosaics at Fishbourne, Arundel castle, Chichester with its cathedral and Bognor Regis with the beach and sea.
There are several supermarkets, fast food and retail outlets within walking distance. If you want to drive to Lidl the entrance to the car park is on the opposite side of the road to the caravan park.
There is a small Woodland Trust nature reserve adjacent to the site which is plenty for a gentle walk as it is all on the flat.
We will return if we just want a couple of nights away to unwind.

Excellent site
This was our first stay at Rowan Park and first trip since lockdown. On arriving at the site we received a warm welcome from the lovely friendly staff. The site is lovely, very spacious pitches and lots of trees and hedging. The system for the toilets and showers worked really well and we didn’t have to queue at all. The bands had the door key attached in a small pot with steriliser just outside, all you needed to do was take the band and key out of the pot and return when leaving. Having read previous reviews of the site we were a bit concerned about road noise, as it turned out this didn’t bother us at all and we live in a very quiet area. Yes you can hear the road but not to the point that it disturbed us, we certainly didn’t have any problems hearing each other speak. However, we did not have a pitch with the road directly behind us so it may be more noticeable on those pitches. Shops are very close by including supermarkets and the bus stop is also nearby. We visited West Wittering beach which is a lovely sandy beach but parking must be booked before you visit as it is very busy at peak times. We spent four nights at Rowan Park and will definitely return to this site in the future.
Perfect for dog owners
The site is easy to find, good access from main road (A29). Site is opposite the start of out of town shopping which is a major benefit if you need food or tools as supermarkets and Halfords & Toolstation are within easy walking distance.
Immediately adjoining the site is a wildlife area with “mown” walkways leading you through a series of 3 open meadows. This is a dog owners paradise if staying at Rowan Park. It is a safe area for dogs, used well and maintained well. Pooh bins dotted around the fields too.
As for Rowan Park.... the wardens welcome on arrival was warm and sincere. The. COVID-19 measures explained in full and an information sheet given out as a reminder.
The measures have been thoughtfully implemented and caused no excessive queues for amenities if you plan your visits!!
The site offers various types of pitches set in a partially wooded area, so shade from the sun is available.
Good level pitches, good sized ones too.
People mention the road noise and although evident, it wasn’t unduly loud considering it is a major coastal road.
Water and waste points at regular intervals around the site, with recycle facility at each.
The grounds and hedges are well manicured and the Wardens deserve credit for the lovely overall appeal of the site.
We went for a relaxing break and found a site that provides exactly that. The dog walking in the adjacent fields a real bonus.
Great COVID-19 measures, well adopted by staff and visitors alike.
Highly recommend Rowan Park and we will definitely be returning.
Great site and a credit to the Wardens, and in turn CAMC.
Well worth a visit
To summarise,
First visit since sites re-opened and I have to say well done to both the club and site staff. Organised, good plan for shared toilets and showers, everything well labelled and explained. Could not fault anything from the club or staff. In fact, thank you for making me believe that we can get through this with some forethought and planning.
Then you have those that are using the site, of which, some need to work out what social distancing is and not walk their dogs through your pitch! A shame they make it less pleasant for others.
Surrounding area –
Yes - The road is close by and you do hear road noise, but it does quieten down at night.
Yes - Shopping is on your doorstep. So many shops within walking distance (including 3 supermarkets and various fast food outlets!).
Yes - The town centre (a busy town centre as well) and sea front is 15 mins on a bike, so within easy reach without having to use your Motorhome.
As I will be visiting 4 other sites this month, it has started me off in a very positive mood, thank you.

Our mini break at a great site
When we saw the small shopping park as we turned into the site gate we did wonder what we had come to.
They say first impressions and all that, well that vision was behind us, and on entering the site we were amazed at what lay before us. A wonderful green space with trees, nicely laid out pitches of all types and a lovely open feel to the place.
We picked a grass pitch on the right hand side as we went through the barrier, lots of space which we liked.
Having pitched and erected our awning, advised the staff of our pitch number and picked up the keys for the toilet / shower blocks, we settled back into a relaxing 4 night stay with two exited Grandchildren. There is lots to see and do in the area, we particularly enjoyed the Roman Villa ruins near Chichester. Chichester itself and the harbour area, LittleHampton and more.
The facilities on the site were spotless and well maintained. The staff were very helpful and professional.
We had been told about road noise and in truth there is some, more to the East side of the site. We were more in the middle towards the West side and barely noticed. In all honesty we loved the site and while there is a little road noise, this was more than compensated for by having a Lidl and other shops just across the road. Just over half a mile further is a Sainsbury, with a pub adjacent to it, ( they do a have a great carvery) on the other side of the road is a Tesco. perfect for Motor Homes, even great for us with a caravan
We will return to this lovely site.
Thanks to all there.
Top Site with Top Staff.
We have just spent another 3 nights at Rowan Park and were not disappointed.
My wife had a bit of a medical glitch on our first night, an ongoing problem. The wardens found her in terrible pain outside of the wash block and walked her back to our pitch and made sure she was safely in the van.
The next morning they came to check that she was ok. We are not sure of their names but we can't thank them enough.
The site is top condition with everything clean and tidy. Yes there is a bit of road noise but the site info does warn of that.
Overall a nice place to stay, we will be going back.
Fabulous site
Although some reviews mention the noise of the traffic and yes, during our stay we heard the same overall our stay was fabulous. The site is very well managed with a good size pitch on offer. The shower/toilet facilities were spotless and our hosts very helpful

Noisy and backs onto a graveyard
I'm really very sorry to have to give a bad review, but this campsite was, unfortunately, the worst I have ever stayed on and I've been camping for a good few years (since the early 1980s), but only recently joined and used the Caravan Club facilities.
Good points: the pitches were flat, level and gravelled. Hook-up points are shared, 4 to one post. There were a lot (and I mean a lot) of big shops nearby (KFC and Halfords were located opposite, while half a mile away were Sainsbury, Tesco and the like).
Bad points: Pitch backed onto a graveyard (was not informed about this). A very, very busy main road running alongside the site. A key for the toilet blocks was obligatory which indicated to me the staff (unlike at other sites) did not regularly check the site/facilities or its customers satisfaction levels. I said I didn't need the key because I had my own toilet in the campervan. This was met with stiff resistance and the reason given was that staff would know I was off the site when my key had been handed back in through the letterbox. I tried to negotiate the reasons why I didn't want it and other ways around the situation, but this was their system and they were sticking to it.
I'd rather not say anymore as I don't wish to spread ill-feelings. However, I will be avoiding this site in future.
