Horrendous road noise

Originally booked for two nights only stayed one. Myself husband and our dog had pitch number ten, we heard road noise all day,all evening and until the early hours, the noise was worse in the early hours with obvious car races taking place, the noise from the cars exhaust was unsettling for my dog as she thought it was fireworks, no sleep last night, I go away for a break to get away from traffic and built up areas not to be in the middle of it. I’m not sure which came first the camp site or the busy road but we will definitely not be coming back here which is a shame as the site is very clean and the band/key system works well, the nature reserve on the sites doorstep was lovely, my dog loved running free there, but we had very little sleep last night due to the road noise, we met three other couples who agreed with us and said they were trying to move their caravans and Motorhomes to other parts of the site to get away from the noise. On a positive note the site is good for exploring Sussex.

Pleasant surprise

Had a wonderful hot first week in August Despite concerns of very negative reviews & also of the site being on the small side , Yes building work was going on behind our hedge pitch 43, ,noise was slight but prob best pitch on site, some people moan for the sake of moaning. I did not use onsite facilities as our Motorhome was well equipped for Covid 19 although my husband did a couple of times & washing up room, he did mention water could be slightly hotter. Made friends with our lovely neighbours & several others on site. Plenty of shops nearby & a pleasant walk to Bognor seafront. Amazing park land adjacent for our doggies who loved it. Very clean & tidy site ,wardens friendly & helpful, a credit to the club. COVID-19 well catered for at the shower blocks & toilets the but I think on occasions people kept hold of the keys .Looking forward to our next stay at Rowan Park. Thank you again Caravan club 😃

Pleasant

We had a nice, last minute booking for a week at the tail end of July. Very good Covid arrangements and ideal for those in a Motorhome for shopping as the site is opposite a shopping complex. Fabulous walking in the nature reserve adjacent to the site for our dogs. The on site dog walk which I was directed to (before I found the nature reserve) is an absolute insult. Facilities are clean although the disabled facilities are a bit tired and getting to the point of not fit for purpose. Additionally, people appear to buying Radar Keys just to be able to use the disabled facilities without really having the need. A young person leaving in swimwear, getting on their bike would confirm my suspicions while I had to wait to get my husband into the facility. (Seems worse during the Covid pandemic). I do think the club needs to re-think access to this facility. On a last note on the disabled facilities; the curb directly opposite the door is not drop curb and anyone on a chair could easily take a tumble over the curb could fall quite easily. This happened to my husband. I reported it but was told I should go round on the grass to avoid him falling again. No accident report was compiled. I don’t blame the wardens, I blame the training. In all tho, a nice stay. Just wish they had serviced pitches.

Balmy Bognor

We had a lovely week at Rowan Park. We visited during the heatwave in August. We had a nice pitch opposite the services and close to the toilet block. There was a bit of building work going on in the field behind us which was a little noisy at times but not really a problem as they were only working 8am to 4pm. The site was maintained to the clubs usual high standards. Although the location is fairly busy, once on site you don’t notice. It also makes it very convenient for shops and transport. There is a Lidl about 100 yards from the site entrance and a large Sainsbury’s, a short walk away. My favourite thing about the site was the nature reserve which is immediately adjacent to the site. Lot’s of lovely dog walks for Harry and my husband enjoyed birdwatching there. All the Covid regulations worked well and we felt perfectly safe. The only downside is no visitors allowed, which is perfectly understandable

First visit to Rown Park

This was our first visit to Rowan Park ans very well worth it, the site is perfectly located on the edge of the town with very straight forward access to the town on foot or on public transport. Site staff compliment the high standards of the M&CC. Covid 19 arrangements are very clear and use of the toilet block managed through an inovative key arrangement. Fellow visitors respected the distance measures and were exercising good common sense. Well worth visiting.

Good for a short break

We booked this site as we just wanted a couple of nights away to acquaint ourselves with our new to us caravan. It was an ideal distance being only about 25miles from home. The site was larger than I thought and we had a great spot which had the sun and because it was so hot had shade from the trees. There are areas of the site I would not have wanted to pitch as the vans were in what seemed to be long lines. The warden was helpful in suggesting which pitch might be best ie away from road or away from hedge behind which building work was apparently taking place. For people not living in the wider area of the site there are lots attractions and places to visit eg Roman palace with mosaics at Fishbourne, Arundel castle, Chichester with its cathedral and Bognor Regis with the beach and sea. There are several supermarkets, fast food and retail outlets within walking distance. If you want to drive to Lidl the entrance to the car park is on the opposite side of the road to the caravan park. There is a small Woodland Trust nature reserve adjacent to the site which is plenty for a gentle walk as it is all on the flat. We will return if we just want a couple of nights away to unwind.

Excellent site

This was our first stay at Rowan Park and first trip since lockdown. On arriving at the site we received a warm welcome from the lovely friendly staff. The site is lovely, very spacious pitches and lots of trees and hedging. The system for the toilets and showers worked really well and we didn’t have to queue at all. The bands had the door key attached in a small pot with steriliser just outside, all you needed to do was take the band and key out of the pot and return when leaving. Having read previous reviews of the site we were a bit concerned about road noise, as it turned out this didn’t bother us at all and we live in a very quiet area. Yes you can hear the road but not to the point that it disturbed us, we certainly didn’t have any problems hearing each other speak. However, we did not have a pitch with the road directly behind us so it may be more noticeable on those pitches. Shops are very close by including supermarkets and the bus stop is also nearby. We visited West Wittering beach which is a lovely sandy beach but parking must be booked before you visit as it is very busy at peak times. We spent four nights at Rowan Park and will definitely return to this site in the future.
