Perfect, just perfect

I will start by disagreeing completely with the last review. We stayed on this site at the same time in mid July. When we arrived the girls in reception could not have been more friendly or helpful and were the same every morning collecting my paper or when you saw them around the site. It was the same with male wardens, always happy, friendly and willing for a chat. We think the site has a great team. The site is situated at the bottom of a winding road through the forest, which opens up into a wonderful mainly level open site. Key fob entrance adds to security. All the facilities are kept extreemly clean and tidy. We moved on from a 4 star non club site to Rookesbury park and It shows immediately just how good the club sites are, try it sometime. The site is only some 5 miles from the M27 so easy access all along the south coast. We will definately return. Thanks to the warden team.

Rude staff ruined our stay

Our reception was greeted with an in depth interrogation by a rude and unhelpful woman who was intrusive and nosy, whilst she was speaking to my husband in reception she sent out her colleague (who was equally as scruffy) to demand to look through our camper van, i felt very uncomfortable as she demanded to know if we had various item (sink, cutlery etc) she even wanted to know how we went to bed (did i have to squeeze over my husband!). When my husband went to complain later on, he was told that we should expect this as they 'Had standards to keep up to', she offered no apology what so ever and insisted that was her right to ask as many questions as she liked to maintain the Caravan clubs high standards. We left after one night, went home and have cancelled our membership, no one would talk to us at the East Grinstead main office about our complaint, so we can only conclude that as a club you condone humiliating your members

Lovely site. Shame about some of the wardens

Lovely site with great children and dog facilities. My concerns were as such: 1. The female warden with dark hair needs to learn some customer service skills. Upon arrival she was short and rude about trying to get on site without our outfit (we arrived with a car and motorhome separately - only by approx 30 mins). 2. We noticed the wardens regularly saving spaces near the entrance for various motorhomes and caravans despite being told, quite firmly, that this was against all rules and regulations (we travelled in a party of two outfits and would have found life much easier, for various reasons, to be situated next to each other).   3. The floor of the baby and toddler room wasn't particularly clean. When we mopped it out, it clearly had not been cleaned for some time.  4. There was an area of timber boarding behind our outfit which provided access to the children's play area. There was hole within the boarding. As the wardens accessed this area with mowers/ small tractors each day, this should have been picked up as a health and safety concern.   All in all, this was a nice site but the wardens (one in particular) really ruined our experience. I think the wardens need to learn some basic customer services skills.

Good stop over for the ferry

We've been on this site several times, using it as a ferry stop over and for a few days holiday. It's a beautiful, spacious site with excellent facilities. We would like to continue using it as a ferry stop over, but there are only 6 ferry pitches, we had one when we returned from France, but had an ordinary pitch when going out. They've fitted timed exit barriers so if you don't get one of the 6 pitches, then you can't use this site. One of the lady wardens suggested sleeping at the port if you don't get one of the ferry pitches! Surely they need more ferry pitches if club members, booking foreign holidays and ferries through the club, need a pitch. It's the only gripe as this is a lovely site. Lots to do in the area, we've had many a great day at Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Would have been 5* if the checking in had gone better

We booked this site through the Caravan Club which holds all our details as to the make, model and size of our Motorhome for a stop over on the way to Portsmouth Ferry. When we arrived a lady in reception told us off for bringing such a huge thing down their driveway and hoped we hadn't broken anything. She also then said she didn't think we could stay on their site because of our size. This was extremely frustrating as if we were too big surely the Caravan Club site wouldn't have allowed us to book. I had also received a call the previous day just checking we were still coming - if there were any queries they could have mentioned it then. We thought we were going to have to turn around after a very long journey until two VERY helpful young Gentleman came in and sorted the problem immediately. They were great, really friendly, chatty and apologetic. They showed us to our pitch, made sure we were OK and then left us to it. The pitch was easily big enough to accommodate us. We had a nice view over the Children's play area. There was a fish and chip van which turned up early evening which we used and it was lovely and cooked to order and good prices. We are booked to stay again in 6 weeks and would definitely use it again next year. Would have been 5* if the initial reception had been better.

Enjoyable week

Warm friendly welcome, cheerful hardworking staff. Site clean and tidy, very busy, the way the pitches are laid out lends to small spacious feeling. Great to walk and run from site. Good walking on the Downs as well as visiting Winchester and Chichester. On the down side two nights sleep disturbed by dogs barking at 4/5am, I am a dog owner! I've never seen dogs in the toilet cubicle next to mine either. Both downs are members rather than site which is a shame

great experience

As first time caravaners we decided to stay close to home for our first trip, so chose Rooksbury Park. What a great choice!! The site is beautiful and excellently maintained. It is also very peaceful. The site staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Paul, one of the wardens, without whose help we would have struggled to set up correctly. The on-site toilet and shower facilities were immaculate. We shall definitely return. Our stay was for 5 nights from 30 June 2016

bit dissapointed

We love the site, we have been before and will come again. We had a 6hr journey arrived at 11 40 but we were not allowed on site till 12 30.  45min wait at the barrier was not good. We then we're in 6 outfit race to find a pitch, did not find warden helpful. The showers etc were excellent, but the hot water in the south wash up area was only tepid, others taking their washing up back to their vans.
