The perfect site?

We had a wonderful 4 nights at this site which exceeded our expectations. The nearby wood was excellent for walking with the dog and as a shortcut to Wickham village - a fascinating place with a superb Food Fair in September. The Meon valley was a walking paradise with its chalk stream, secluded footpaths, foot bridges and brilliant pubs - try 'The Shoe' at Exton. The site itself was almost full but still peaceful and with wonderfully clean facilities, helpful staff and a large dog-walking field. It also drained very well in the rain. We'll definitely return - probably for longer.

Regular visitor to site

Our favorite site in UK aided by the fact we originate from Hampshire. We have stayed numerous times over the last 20 years and never tire of finding new things to do or see. The military history surrounding Portsmouth is of great interest and well displayed. Ideal for rainy days.

Great site

Return visit - previous visit was 20 years earlier. My memory is a bit vague but the site seems to have expanded considerably. We stayed two nights after long journey south before ferry crossing to Bilbao. Although we didn't need a ferry pitch, if we had we would have needed to move pitch after the first night. (Less of an issue with a motorhome than it would be with caravan.) The site would benefit from more ferry pitches. But the system with the barriers and ferry pitches must overall benefit the "normal" pitches in avoiding movements late at night or very early. My dealings were with the first year wardens (it is a three couple site). They were excellent in every way (friendly greeting, helpful and efficient, etc) and a great credit to the club. The site itself is large but with a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. And it is in a lovely position. Although there only one and a half days I managed a reasonable bike ride on lovely quiet lanes. (The area is a bit hilly but nothing too challenging.) I also ran - the woods at the top of the private drive to the campsite make the perfect place to run (or walk, or mountain bike) with a good choice of routes through the woods and to further afield. It isn't far to Farnham for Sainsburys for supplies and fuel. (There is a Shell filling station closer to the site.) We could easily have enjoyed a longer stay there.

First Visit to the site !

Lovely site in a nice area. Spacious site but the pitches seemed a bit randomly spaced. Nice to have 2 shower blocks, which were very well kept.  Visited here on the way from Southampton after visiting the Isle of Wight, easy to find with friendly wardens.

Ideal meeting place

We stopped here for the umpteenth time so that we could attend a grandson's wedding in Portsmouth on the August Bank Holiday weekend. The welcome was great as usual, cleanliness up to the standard expected of a CC site and an ideal base for family to visit. We had another grandson and family visit us and it was ideal with the children play area close by to our pitch (105) and two toilet blocks to chose from. Coffee in Wickham in the morning in the upstairs cafe is a must for us and plenty of shops for groceries and hardware.  The site is lovely and quiet, good for forest walks and wildlife, my only minor bug is the long access road off the public highway where discourteous members, visitors and delivery drivers expect towed caravans to go 'off road' so that they can pass on the tarmac. So a suggestion is to provide more passing bays and build up and harden the verges so that no damage occurs to the caravan while 'off road' to discourteous members and also a large sign about the priority for giving way at the exit off the public highway and at the site barrier exit.

All change at Rookesbury Park

Always a great stay here, sadly for us this will be our last trip of the season. Over the years we have been assured of a relaxing break in a great location or if feeling energetic lots to do in the surrounding area. From next season I understand the earliest time of arrival will change to 1pm and in the interest of safety I commend the change, with the single track approach its a pity on this last visit I witnessed several owners leaving well after noon, taken together with the inevitable early bird wanting the best spot it's a recipe for disaster.

Surprising !

This is my 1st season, I normally use CL's. when I arrived the staff were amazing.my daughter became travel sick ( the drive way is LONG ! and didn't want to get back in the car to find our spot. The warden marked all 6 vacant spots. It was busy ! I found the most amazing spot surrounded by it's own little hedge. Despite crazy weather and power cuts the staff kept the site as clean as a spa hotel Bliss! Well done super staff! The site was silent by 9. Well done fellow campers. ! Be aware you may need to turn the power cable to the right and click it into place. I didn't realise this until the ice cubes melted for my g and t on day 2 ! The staff were superb !
