This is great site in a lovely area and convenient to both Portsmouth and Southampton. The site and facilities are very well maintained by the lovely hard working wardens. If all the customer kept the site as well, instead of using and abusing!
This is our third stay on the site as we have family close by. Wickham is a lovely little town with plenty of bars, restaurants, shops etc. The Thai restaurant was particularly good.
Plenty of wildlife on the site and in the surrounding woods of Bere Forrest.
Just be aware that on leaving the site if you want to travel West on the M27 you will have to head East to junction 11, leave and rejoin the motorway
I can't comment as to whether the site is good for families or not
Short stay in March
Excellent. No complaints whatsoever.
We were there for three nights. On the twowhole days we walked into Wickham along footpaths and disused railway line (2 miles). Really nice town/village.
We'll go back sometime.
Arrival times
This site is a bit off the beaten track but that isn't too much of a problem. I was taken aback a bit by the wardens attitude on our arrival, she explained that we had arrived a bit early and that we should not have arrived before 13.00. This being a new ruling because of the narrow approach road. I totally understand and agree that this is a good idea but explained that our welcome email that I received this week had 12.00 as the arrival time and I would not have dreamt of arriving before it. There was then some confusion over ferry pitches, other than that the site is large and spacious, toilets are clean, finding our way back on to the motorway was easy.
Excellent site
An immaculate site with first class facilities. Shower blocks extremely clean. Well located for lovely walks in the forest which can be accessed by a gate behind main shower block. Nice walk in to Wickham, which is a lovely village. Good dog exercise field on site. Will definitely return.

Better than expected
We stayed here in September and found it be an amazing site. It was clean with spacious pitches and a mixture of grass or hard standing pitches. The site felt very roomy with very good facilities. The dog walk area is huge.
There were no issues with speeders here either. If I had to give one negative it would be that it is slightly off the beaten track and it is quite a trek to the outside world. Having said that, visitors would know this in advance and would forward plan for provisions etc, as we did.
Wardens, thank you for all your hard work maintaining this site.
Great site, even in the Autumn
We revisited this site after a break of about 8 years and were pleasantly surprised to see how well it has been kept.
Despite it being the last weekend of the season, the site was in pristine condition. The pitches are very well spaced out and although the site was fully booked, it was pleasant and did not seem busy or crammed. The cleanliness levels everywhere were to an excellent standard. It was a joy to be there. We shall definitely be back next season. Shame it doesn't open during the winter, as there are mostly hard standing gravel pitches.
Beautifully kept site.
We stayed here for the second half of half term and we were very impressed with all aspects of the site. As mentioned in another review the toilet/shower block being closed from 9:50-11:00 is a bit of an awkward time, but you soon get round it. Perfect location for cycling/walking in the forest next door.
We will certainly look at returning again next year.
Excellent site, excellent staff
Site is easy to get to from M27, wardens very friendly & helpful, facilities very good & very clean. One of the best on the network.
Rookesbury Park - Oct half term
First time we have ever returned to a site! Nice, spacious (especially as grass pitches not being used). Lovely location with a country park next door. Very close to Portsmouth and convenient for Park and Ride. One of the toilet blocks is closed too early for cleaning, though (9.50 to 11.00). Also one very noisy family who we had to have words with - always annoys me that we have to do this and not the wardens. Site receptionist very helpful and pleasant. Facilities generally very clean but husband finds that shower curtains are far too short and the water splashes all over the floor of the cubicle. Play area for children is useful.
Excellent site ruined by a few inconsiderate people.
We visited the site for the first time in August and again this October half term. We love the location, Wickham is a lovely village, the forest next to the site is great for walking, cycling, and a good play area. There's a lot to do within a few miles radius, and we still haven't exhausted the local attractions. The site itself is beautiful, we loved being on the grass pitches in the summer, with plenty of space around us....which meant we were well away from a noisy group of caravans. However, when we returned this half term after 5 blissfully peaceful days we noticed a couple of new arrivals pitched next to, and across from us, who were extremely noisy, and did not supervise their children who were left alone in the other awning. The next day, more "friends" arrived. After the second night of noise carrying well on into the night, I complained to the wardens. The wardens were smypathetic, and told me they had had problems with them before. It turns out they were the ones we had heard in the summer. The noise was slightly better after the wardens had a word, but then the last night they were making noise until 2am! They were walking around our caravan on the gravel, and we suspect they threw beer on our awning. They also moved our parents step away from the doorway, to the end of the van, which could have been really dangerous if my Dad hadn't been paying attention as he stepped out of his caravan the following morning. The whole party of 8 adults and numerous kids across 4 caravans ruined the last 4 nights of our holiday. So, if you're wanting peace and quiet, be warned, unless these regular site goers are dealt with by the club, there is a good chance your holiday could be spoilt by the inconsiderate few!
