Will come back again

Brought our grandsons for their first visit to Rookesbury having been there without them previously. A great time was had by all of us. The site is a credit to the club wardens.

Great Site.

One of the best site's I've stayed on in 38 years of caravanning. Location, Actual site layout, Walks, Dog walks, Cleanliness. This site could spoil you for others.

Rookesbury Park April 2017

Arrived a day early for grass pitches, but plenty of choice available. Site is clean and tidy, with obvious attention from wardens. Facilities kept very clean too. Perhaps summed up by my visiting 2 year old grand -daughter who said she wanted to stay there for ever! Very lucky with the weather, enjoying endless sunshine and gentle breezes. The only perceived drawback, and not under the Club control, is the fact that as soon as you leave the site, the main road has no pavement area on either side - with the local woods being so attractive, this is unfortunate. There is however a footpath through the woods to the woodland play park area - perhaps challenging for smaller children. Being less than 30 minutes from our home, it is a regularly used site by us.

Lovely site in a peaceful location

Lovely stay on this site. Peaceful and full of Bird song. We were surprised how many interesting things to do there were around. Park and ride in Portsmouth made it very easy to visit Portsmouth, Southsea and the Isle of Wight.

Cracking site, facilities and location ... weather was great too

This site just gets better and better. Spent another week here (1st till 8th April) and enjoyed a splendid time as always. Arrived well after 1pm so no fuss getting on-site, wardens were great too with an eagerness to please - nothing was too much trouble. The Park was very well turned out with neatly cut grassed area's and toilet/showers as clean as clean could be. Dog walking area, although smaller than previous years, is more than adequate for two rough and tumble Labradors and the nearby dog walking through the woods just great - take the correct route and the dogs can come off lead also. 10 out of 10 from Barney & Toby. Great to see the chip van on site Saturday early evening. All in all a great break and if you get up early enough each morning the quietness is almost deafening. Looking forward to our September visit.

Fabulous first time stay

This was our very first outing in our motor home and we were more than pleasantly surprised. The customer service was absolutely second to none, with all the staff going out of their way to help (even logging us in to WiFi). The dog enjoyed all the walks in the forest enormously (off the lead) and we found our way by foot to The Roebuck pub, a gentle 45 minute walk away and had a lovely meal. Would have absolutely no hesitation in returning to this site.

Good well laid out site BUT

A well laid out site that does not feel "hemmed in" with the usual immaculate facilities that you get on most club sites, My big problem is that although there is direct access to the forest from the site There is a requirement to keep dogs on the lead in the forest. ( although if the forest is accessed from a public car park there are no dog lead restrictions!) So I feel that the description by the club " ideal for dogs " was unjustified The site is very convenient for area's of the south downs and there are some lovely walks to be had north of the site when outside the forest. Again like other reviewers I was misled by the club as to the earliest arrival time! The description on the website talked about a fish and chip van, but I saw no evidence of any, and with the nearest pub/ restaurant being a good drive away this was a bit of a disappointment.

Great site

Have been caravanning for 14 years and visited this site for the first time in April this year. Great site for dogs (good dog walk on-site & good walks from the site) hence will add it to my list of yearly sites to visit.

Teething problems I hope.

After reading other reviews, we thought it only right to leave ours. Our paperwork clearly states arrival at 12, but then told you can not get on until 1. If indeed it is 1 o clock, please sort out and correct arrival documents. As this could cause an issue. People not keeping to speed limit around site, with the amount of children cycling around an accident will happen. Speed limit should be I forced. Also not happy about being locked in at night, there is a fob system this should be enough. If there was an emergency and you had to leave, I'm sure the warden would not appreciate being woken up. We stay at this site a lot during school holidays, my husband would then leave each day for work. Not being able to leave the site until a certain time might stop us staying here. But after all these 'new' issues we love this site. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Shower blocks are always spotless. We will be returning again. Hopefully these teething problems for 2017 will be fixed.

Superb site shame about change of arrival time

This site has always been one of our favourite sites which we have frequently visited over the last 8 years. Sadly in 2016 new wardens took over & the atmosphere has changed , the arrival time has now changed to 13:00 instead of 12:00. Although I agree that the arrival & departure time should not be the same I do think this change is unjustified as most people have left the site by 11:00. It would have more sense to change the departure time to 11:00 & keep the arrival time 12:00 as most people know the departure time ,whereas the arrival time depends on the traffic & unforeseen circumstances. These times have now been put in place at Broomfield which has a very narrow country lane & is much more acceptable. We have never experienced a problem to the approach road to the site in all the years we have been coming here. Now we are finding people leaving later ,well after 12:00 probably due to the change of arrival time & abusing it. On our recent visit a number of vans were leaving as late as 12:30 which is not on. What doesn't help is the unwelcome attitude if you arrive slightly early & then being made to wait at the reception area until everyone has left. There are always spaces available especially at the beginning & end of the season so why not let people in, it's ridiculous! So come on wardens try being a little bit more relaxed & accommodating after all it's the members who keep the club going.
