Not the best of sites

Always been a great site have stayed here a lot not just a name change this year. Some of the wardens not as helpful as others,we reported ladies showers not working properly only to be told by the wardens wasn't their problem as contractors should of sorted them out. Lighting was not working at our nearest water station. There also seemed to be a problem with the electrical supplies on pitches 1-54 ? Should this not of been sorted out before the season started. Finally when a 2year old went to use the toilets the warden seemed to take delight in putting the chain across right in front of her and told her mother to take her to the other toilet block!! not acceptable she didn't make it.

Stay on a lovely site near forest walk.

Clean and comfortable site with very welcoming staff. We tried out the car hire option available here through the club and its only a 20 min trip to sort with a pick up included which was excellent and allowed us to venture easily further afield on a wet day. The sites only very slightly of the beaten track but it compensates by the walks and wildlife available near the site . A good site to return to for further exploration of a lovely area.

Slightly disapointing return visit

We've stayed on this Club Site a number of times and it's previously been great but this time there were a few minor problems. Firstly with the female showers not working correctly (difficult to get into the spray as most of the water was running down the wall!) apparently this was due to maintenance not being carried out correctly by a contractor. Secondly the lights were not working around our nearest waste/water area leaving it absolutely pitch black in the evening/night. There was also a strange response when we requested a late departure (yes I know this is discretionary), the first Warden seemed to think this was OK but then a second Warden entered reception and overruled asking if this was for a special reason, yes there was a reason but we didn't consider it "special", as such, the request was declined. Overall nothing major but it left us with a bad taste, maybe as it's early in the season the Wardens aren't up to speed yet.

We'll definitely be back!

From the moment we were made very welcome at reception to the moment we left we loved this site. The staff were so friendly and informative. The site and facilities are immaculate. Can't recommend it enough. Just wish it was open all the year round as we visit Hampshire in the winter sometimes. Can't have everything I suppose. We were in a motorhome and the motorhome service points are just what you need. As I said in my title, we'll be back!

Fantastic

This is great site in a lovely area and convenient to both Portsmouth and Southampton. The site and facilities are very well maintained by the lovely hard working wardens. If all the customer kept the site as well, instead of using and abusing! This is our third stay on the site as we have family close by. Wickham is a lovely little town with plenty of bars, restaurants, shops etc. The Thai restaurant was particularly good. Plenty of wildlife on the site and in the surrounding woods of Bere Forrest. Just be aware that on leaving the site if you want to travel West on the M27 you will have to head East to junction 11, leave and rejoin the motorway I can't comment as to whether the site is good for families or not

Short stay in March

Excellent. No complaints whatsoever. We were there for three nights. On the twowhole days we walked into Wickham along footpaths and disused railway line (2 miles). Really nice town/village. We'll go back sometime.

Arrival times

This site is a bit off the beaten track but that isn't too much of a problem. I was taken aback a bit by the wardens attitude on our arrival, she explained that we had arrived a bit early and that we should not have arrived before 13.00. This being a new ruling because of the narrow approach road. I totally understand and agree that this is a good idea but explained that our welcome email that I received this week had 12.00 as the arrival time and I would not have dreamt of arriving before it. There was then some confusion over ferry pitches, other than that the site is large and spacious, toilets are clean, finding our way back on to the motorway was easy.

Excellent site

An immaculate site with first class facilities. Shower blocks extremely clean. Well located for lovely walks in the forest which can be accessed by a gate behind main shower block. Nice walk in to Wickham, which is a lovely village. Good dog exercise field on site. Will definitely return.

Better than expected

We stayed here in September and found it be an amazing site. It was clean with spacious pitches and a mixture of grass or hard standing pitches. The site felt very roomy with very good facilities. The dog walk area is huge. There were no issues with speeders here either. If I had to give one negative it would be that it is slightly off the beaten track and it is quite a trek to the outside world. Having said that, visitors would know this in advance and would forward plan for provisions etc, as we did. Wardens, thank you for all your hard work maintaining this site.

Great site, even in the Autumn

We revisited this site after a break of about 8 years and were pleasantly surprised to see how well it has been kept. Despite it being the last weekend of the season, the site was in pristine condition. The pitches are very well spaced out and although the site was fully booked, it was pleasant and did not seem busy or crammed. The cleanliness levels everywhere were to an excellent standard. It was a joy to be there. We shall definitely be back next season. Shame it doesn't open during the winter, as there are mostly hard standing gravel pitches.
