Beautifully kept site.

We stayed here for the second half of half term and we were very impressed with all aspects of the site. As mentioned in another review the toilet/shower block being closed from 9:50-11:00 is a bit of an awkward time, but you soon get round it. Perfect location for cycling/walking in the forest next door. We will certainly look at returning again next year.

Rookesbury Park - Oct half term

First time we have ever returned to a site! Nice, spacious (especially as grass pitches not being used). Lovely location with a country park next door. Very close to Portsmouth and convenient for Park and Ride. One of the toilet blocks is closed too early for cleaning, though (9.50 to 11.00). Also one very noisy family who we had to have words with - always annoys me that we have to do this and not the wardens. Site receptionist very helpful and pleasant. Facilities generally very clean but husband finds that shower curtains are far too short and the water splashes all over the floor of the cubicle. Play area for children is useful.

Excellent site ruined by a few inconsiderate people.

We visited the site for the first time in August and again this October half term. We love the location, Wickham is a lovely village, the forest next to the site is great for walking, cycling, and a good play area. There's a lot to do within a few miles radius, and we still haven't exhausted the local attractions. The site itself is beautiful, we loved being on the grass pitches in the summer, with plenty of space around us....which meant we were well away from a noisy group of caravans. However, when we returned this half term after 5 blissfully peaceful days we noticed a couple of new arrivals pitched next to, and across from us, who were extremely noisy, and did not supervise their children who were left alone in the other awning. The next day, more "friends" arrived. After the second night of noise carrying well on into the night, I complained to the wardens. The wardens were smypathetic, and told me they had had problems with them before. It turns out they were the ones we had heard in the summer. The noise was slightly better after the wardens had a word, but then the last night they were making noise until 2am! They were walking around our caravan on the gravel, and we suspect they threw beer on our awning. They also moved our parents step away from the doorway, to the end of the van, which could have been really dangerous if my Dad hadn't been paying attention as he stepped out of his caravan the following morning. The whole party of 8 adults and numerous kids across 4 caravans ruined the last 4 nights of our holiday. So, if you're wanting peace and quiet, be warned, unless these regular site goers are dealt with by the club, there is a good chance your holiday could be spoilt by the inconsiderate few!

peaceful half term break

what an amazing site, wardens were great, well manicured site with lots of wild life around, first class facilities, if I have to have a moan, not all WC's and showers were available had to queue one morning for a shower, that said, we will be back for more, keep up the great work wardens.

Still peaceful even though busy at half term

Stayed here from Tuesday to Tuesday from before to halfway in Half term. Was quiet when we arrived so had plenty of choice of pitches, it filled up over the weekend, but still felt spacious. The children who arrived were well behaved and kept to the play area. The site including the facilities were spotless, and the wardens very friendly. Lots of wildlife including deer. Excellent walks and a short drive into Wickham. Only slight criticism, was limited choice of bread in the shop - could be because it is out of season.

Silence is Golden

This is one of the best large sites we have used; clean, manicured; excellent facilities etc.  We visit the area regularly and have tried many nearby sites and this is the best by far.  Access is excellent and the nearby village of Wickham is very pretty.  We had travelled down from Oxford and the "silence was golden".  Will surely visit again as long as our son lives in Southsea.

Lovely Locarion

We stayed here for two nights and found the facilities, location and things to do around the area first class. The pitches are nice and big but I would suggest a drive around as some offer more sun than others. Two good toilet blocks which were always clean. As dog walkers there are plenty of walks around the site including a nice walk to Wickham through the woods and a disused railway line. With easy access to Southampton and Portsmouth there is good shopping (if that's what you're after) or nights out. There is a park and ride just outside Portsmouth that can take motorhomes. Overall a great place to visit and I would recommend it.

GOOD HALF TERM BREAK

Myself, my wife and our 12 year old grandson had a wonderful time on this site. very quite. Ideal for the Navel Docks at Portsmouth, would suggest the park and ride from Juc one of M274 is best for for. You need at least 3 days round the docks to see everything. The site was well kept and the wardens were friendly. We found 9.55am a little early to close the toilets for cleaning. Only down side was a member using the drinking water tap to clean his grey waste container and pipe. The same person did not clean the floor in the shower block after he had used it. Come on Car reg M--TAX think of others.
