Good well laid out site BUT

A well laid out site that does not feel "hemmed in" with the usual immaculate facilities that you get on most club sites, My big problem is that although there is direct access to the forest from the site There is a requirement to keep dogs on the lead in the forest. ( although if the forest is accessed from a public car park there are no dog lead restrictions!) So I feel that the description by the club " ideal for dogs " was unjustified The site is very convenient for area's of the south downs and there are some lovely walks to be had north of the site when outside the forest. Again like other reviewers I was misled by the club as to the earliest arrival time! The description on the website talked about a fish and chip van, but I saw no evidence of any, and with the nearest pub/ restaurant being a good drive away this was a bit of a disappointment.

Great site

Have been caravanning for 14 years and visited this site for the first time in April this year. Great site for dogs (good dog walk on-site & good walks from the site) hence will add it to my list of yearly sites to visit.

Teething problems I hope.

After reading other reviews, we thought it only right to leave ours. Our paperwork clearly states arrival at 12, but then told you can not get on until 1. If indeed it is 1 o clock, please sort out and correct arrival documents. As this could cause an issue. People not keeping to speed limit around site, with the amount of children cycling around an accident will happen. Speed limit should be I forced. Also not happy about being locked in at night, there is a fob system this should be enough. If there was an emergency and you had to leave, I'm sure the warden would not appreciate being woken up. We stay at this site a lot during school holidays, my husband would then leave each day for work. Not being able to leave the site until a certain time might stop us staying here. But after all these 'new' issues we love this site. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Shower blocks are always spotless. We will be returning again. Hopefully these teething problems for 2017 will be fixed.

Superb site shame about change of arrival time

This site has always been one of our favourite sites which we have frequently visited over the last 8 years. Sadly in 2016 new wardens took over & the atmosphere has changed , the arrival time has now changed to 13:00 instead of 12:00. Although I agree that the arrival & departure time should not be the same I do think this change is unjustified as most people have left the site by 11:00. It would have more sense to change the departure time to 11:00 & keep the arrival time 12:00 as most people know the departure time ,whereas the arrival time depends on the traffic & unforeseen circumstances. These times have now been put in place at Broomfield which has a very narrow country lane & is much more acceptable. We have never experienced a problem to the approach road to the site in all the years we have been coming here. Now we are finding people leaving later ,well after 12:00 probably due to the change of arrival time & abusing it. On our recent visit a number of vans were leaving as late as 12:30 which is not on. What doesn't help is the unwelcome attitude if you arrive slightly early & then being made to wait at the reception area until everyone has left. There are always spaces available especially at the beginning & end of the season so why not let people in, it's ridiculous! So come on wardens try being a little bit more relaxed & accommodating after all it's the members who keep the club going.

Superb site

We were knocked out by this site. It was in the most beautiful of settings, offering total peace and quiet (there were no children at the time which was a bonus). The site was superbly laid out and in the club's usual pristine condition with plenty of service points scattered around. The two toilet blocks were of the highest standards of quality and cleanliness making the whole experience an absolute treat. This is a site which would be hard to beat.

Our first visit to this lovely site this year

Lovely to get back to this excellent site again, live close so ideal for short weekends, but agree with previous comments this year, some new staff and still a bit regimental, if there are empty pitches that have not been used overnight what is the problem with just letting members on site a tad early, after all we do pay the higher fees to stay on site, please be more understanding with paying guests, don't drive us away.

Arrival time

We have been to this lovely site many times now and have always enjoyed our stay. It seems a shame that the arrival time has now been changed to one o'clock to avoid a problem on the road entering the site. If this is the problem why not make the departure time eleven instead as the majority of people tend to leave well before twelve. Saying this on our recent stay there were several who abused this and were leaving well after twelve. We did arrive just before twelve (which was stated in our enjoy your stay at Rookesbury e mail) and got a not very welcoming reception from the warden and were told that we wouldn't be allowed in as some people were still leaving. We looked around and there were plenty of empty pitches. Not the friendliest welcome which we have always had from wardens in the past from there and every other site we've stayed at.

Just lovely

This is a little jewel in the club's network. It is in a beautiful setting with lovely walks and plenty of pubs quite close. It is far away from Fareham to feel as though you are on holiday and very close (within walking distance) of the beautiful village of Wickham. We visit here regularly as we live within 15 minutes of the site. The wardens were very helpful and friendly. Our only concern was the temperature of the hot water which was not much more than lukewarm in the washing up area, however when we pointed this out to the wardens they agreed to check and rectify this as soon as they could

1 Night Stay

We have just returned from a 1 night stay on this site as it is close to home and we wanted to get our van ready for the season, we arrived a little earlier than the time we thought we would be allowed on all club sites only to be greeted with a very austere warden telling us that the time allowed onto this site was 13.00hrs and not 12.noon and that we should have checked our paperwork more thoroughly, but we could wander around the site and chose a pitch and once all the departures had left and the site had been checked by fellow wardens we would be allowed on. However when we wandered around the site there were already empty pitches and these did not change once we were allowed on. I feel that perhaps these wardens are new and not in the swing of things yet but a nice greeting or an apology for not letting us in would have been acceptable. As stated by other reviewers the ladies showers were a problem and also the lighting all around the site is poor. Although this site is close to home and ideal for start and end of the season We think that maybe next time we will go further afield or try and find a good CL close by.
