We were looking for a last minute site close to home and our "usuals" were full or closed, then came across Rookesbury. What a lovely surprise. A truely dog friendly place with handy "Pit Stops", a great play area if you have kids, and right next door to woodlands with plenty of walking.
This site is now firmly on our list of "usuals"
Stayed longer this year
After spending just an overnight stop for the last two years we decided this year we would like to see more of the area, we were not disappointed, should have stayed longer than the three days we booked! We had a sunny hardstanding for our motorhome and even got a satellite signal for the TV. As soon as we arrived chairs out and lunch in the sunshine, just what it's all about! Loo block was modern and very clean as was the rest of the site with the friendly wardens working hard. We were extremely lucky with the weather managed to get into Portsmouth twice. The Spinnaker Tower is a must, lunch in the cafe below watching all the ferries coming and going in the amazing sunshine. Then up the tower (via fast lift) and a walk across the glass floor (don't forget the Club voucher to reduce the cost), just amazing views all round. You can have tea at the top of the tower but as the weather was so good I wanted to be out in the sunshine, so back to ground level boat watching with tea & scones.
Lovely
We love this site it’s such a lovely location staff are always friendly and helpful facilities always spotless. My only reservation is the tents in the centre pitches as some times noisy but won’t stop us coming as we love the site.
Rookesbury Park another great stay
With so much going on locally during the weekend we stayed the site was full. We pitched on a grass pitch which was fine. Wardens great, friendly but very busy maintaining the site and facilities. Just be aware that the M27 has got road works for some miles, which is no real problem, but the normal exit point is closed so you may well be diverted.
Just what you want from a site. In a good location for an extended stay or Portsmouth ferries are 20min away.
A truly excellent site. Quick and easy access to the M27 for east west travel (Portsmouth/Southampton/New Forest etc.) and super convenient for the ferries!!! Facilities and wardens as good as any other site. Well worth a visit!!!

Lovely site, easy for all that Portsmouth offers
Great site, friendly greeting, facilities very clean with plenty of hot water. Laundry room very useful. Good location for Portsmouth area, only about 15-20 mins to the park and ride. Spent 4 days exploring the historic dockyard & Mary Rose. Had a great day out to the Isle of Wight by Hovercraft. Campsite really good, grass pitches were lovely with plenty of space, well maintained. Pizza van on Weds which were good but you don't need one each!
Lovely well laid out and well run site
secluded sight close to South Coast attractions. well laid out with hedges and trees and extremely well run.
Wow
We booked this site over a year ago specifically for my nieces wedding, the wardens were very friendly and helpful, pitches very spacious, clean facilities and I just loved the dog exercise field with the little agility equipment. As the weather was nice when we arrived my sister, her husband and my niece and her future husband, who we had never met, visited us in the motorhome which was not a problem, they just had to leave their car in the car park and I had to get them. The shop also sold some lovely frozzys for the dog, which he had never tried before, so took some back with us as he loved them, especially nice on a hot day while we were eating ice creams. Would love to return but a bit far to go for a weekend trip.

Peaceful and welcoming
Truly warm welcome and a great pitch. Usual high standard of CMC facilities. We only stayed for a night before a ferry sailing but will do so again and are planning to come back for visits to Portsmouth’s many attractions in the future. The pizzas from the visiting Ogie’s woodfired pizza van were delicious too!
Satisfies first time visitors
We have just spent a very pleasant 8 nights t this site and were very impressed with nearly all aspects of the site. Facilities are good and clean, pitches are generous and the staff always pleasant and helpful. We were pitched on 108 and therefore overlooking ‘tent city’ (actually it was more like tent hamlet). Whilst I understand the misgivings of some fellow members about not joining a camping club, all I can say is that at best, they were not intrusive or noisy. At worst they were taking up 10 very nice grass pitch locations. I understand that this is not a permanent arrangement, merely a 4 month trial. The site is within walking distance of the local town of Wickham, but if shopping is intended, then you really need to take a car, as it is too far to carry heavy bags. It is a good location for visiting the Historic Dockyard, (Mary Rose, Victory etc.) and the Isle of Wight. To the north, Winchester is not far and well worth a visit. All in all, a good site and good things to see.
