Wow

We booked this site over a year ago specifically for my nieces wedding, the wardens were very friendly and helpful, pitches very spacious, clean facilities and I just loved the dog exercise field with the little agility equipment. As the weather was nice when we arrived my sister, her husband and my niece and her future husband, who we had never met, visited us in the motorhome which was not a problem, they just had to leave their car in the car park and I had to get them. The shop also sold some lovely frozzys for the dog, which he had never tried before, so took some back with us as he loved them, especially nice on a hot day while we were eating ice creams. Would love to return but a bit far to go for a weekend trip.

Peaceful and welcoming

Truly warm welcome and a great pitch. Usual high standard of CMC facilities. We only stayed for a night before a ferry sailing but will do so again and are planning to come back for visits to Portsmouth’s many attractions in the future. The pizzas from the visiting Ogie’s woodfired pizza van were delicious too!

Satisfies first time visitors

We have just spent a very pleasant 8 nights t this site and were very impressed with nearly all aspects of the site. Facilities are good and clean, pitches are generous and the staff always pleasant and helpful. We were pitched on 108 and therefore overlooking ‘tent city’ (actually it was more like tent hamlet). Whilst I understand the misgivings of some fellow members about not joining a camping club, all I can say is that at best, they were not intrusive or noisy. At worst they were taking up 10 very nice grass pitch locations. I understand that this is not a permanent arrangement, merely a 4 month trial. The site is within walking distance of the local town of Wickham, but if shopping is intended, then you really need to take a car, as it is too far to carry heavy bags. It is a good location for visiting the Historic Dockyard, (Mary Rose, Victory etc.) and the Isle of Wight. To the north, Winchester is not far and well worth a visit. All in all, a good site and good things to see.

Another Happy and Welcomed Stay

We very much enjoyed our second stay here. Wonderful location, beautiful adjacent woodland. Special welcome from friendly wardens; Al and Andie. This was our third site visit (once at Burford, twice here) with them as hosts. All the staff are very good, but it's very special to receive a lovely welcome back. Thanks very much, we look forward to our next visit. Perfect!

only over night stop but worthy of longer

only stayed the one night but worthy of longer. Spacious well laid out site well kept. Usual spotless facilities block. Excellent on site dog walking. Pity you can hear traffic noise in such an otherwise would-be peaceful location but it doesn't dominate. Would stay again for longer

Another Good Holiday?

Just returned from a week here. We actually come for a week every year. We love the area and the site is usually very good. This year, however, we had two problems. Firstly our Thetford Casette got damaged. I was using the CCEP in the lower toilet block and the tap facility is old and has a very short rubber hose. In trying get water into the casette I broke the plate. Cost £44 to replace. When I spoke to the warden I was politely told that the 'water board' have specific regulations that determine the precise length of rubber pipe to the millimetre! Not sure I believe him. Then we pitched on 104 and behind us we had the new tent complex. Apparently the club is experimenting using caravan pitches for tents with electric hook ups. So one by one tents of all shapes and sizes began to arrive. So how you put a tent on a caravan pitch? They were on the peg, off the peg, in the middle of the peg. A real shambles. 38 years ago we joined THE CARAVAN CLUB - we now accept the MOTORHOME addition but we DID NOT join the CAMPING CLUB. Beware if you are going to the site unless you like to have your peace spoiled by a rag tag of tents etc choose your pitch carefully.

Excellent

This site is very well maintained, with excellent helpful and very friendly staff even willing to go the extra mile, always polite. Great site for dog owners as there is a big field for the dogs to run free and mix with other dogs, most people clean up there dogs mess, mainly some owners don’t clean up after their dog, which spoils it for other owners. The shop is very well stocked, it is only 5 to 10 mins away with great shop in the village of Wickham there is a Co-op, chemists and various places to eat. Fareham is only 15 to 20 mins away. Lovely site to be on an absolute pleasure to stay there, we have already booked a return holiday for this site. Would recommend to anyone.

Wonderful site, in a stunning area,

We had never visited this area with our touring caravan, despite being avid " Caravanners" for 12 years... This is a lovely hideaway..right off the beaten track but almost central for a good weeks holiday, and it also has a stopover paddock for Ferry crossovers... The site is beautifully kept and very well maintained by a team of wardens that can be seen working from the early hours to late evening to make your stay perfect, They are very large pitches... both grass and hard standing,,with electric..and there is even a tent/camping field, There is a shop on site which sells most necessities,, and a Fish and Chip van visits the site, The site is perfect for visiting places like the Historic Harbour docks, with The Warrior,, The Victory and Harbour tour,,,We visited Winchester Cathedral, Wolvesley Castle,South sea. and the stunning Port Solent marina where you can sit in the evening and have a great meal, This site is a must for a stay..it has everything on site, and the beautiful weather made it an easy stay to sit by the van in the evening and read till late with a nice cool drink, There were only 2 minuses.and these are to those who stay on the site... As I mentioned The pitches are very large which allows for a lot of space between each unit. There are some who like to share their music and their TV'S to everyone in the camp.please be mindful if we wanted to listen to music or the Tv we would have used our own as the electic is inclusive, We didn't take our dogs this time as we had booked to go to "The Festival of Speed at Goodwood" and intended to visit Portsmouth and the surrounding cities attractions, but there is a good Dog activity area, walk and you can take your Dog for a great walk out of the site,,,,usual restrictions are in place,,,sadly there are some people don't abide by the rules as I found out when going to get in our car one morning... having to clear up some else 's mess , before we drove out,,so we didn't drive it all around the site. Dog Poo bags are very cheap and it doesnt take two minutes to clean up, dont ruin the site for other users,
