Great Week Holiday!

We stayed 3rd - 10th August 2020 and it was our first visit to Rookesbury Site. We really enjoyed it. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The campers were friendly too. the site entrance was easy to get in and out of. We visited Portsmouth including the Museum & Art Gallery and Model Village. Portchester Castle and Hurst Castle (booked in advance due to Covid19 restrictions) and Southampton. We had not been to Hampshire before and had always wanted to see it for ourselves. What a lovely surprise and adventure! We really enjoyed it and we were blessed with good weather too! Thanks to the Rookesbury team for looking after us, we would definately visit this site again when we are next in the area. :)

Fantastic family holiday made better by brilliant staff

Our second trip to Rookesbury in the month of August. this one with 3 other families 6 adults 9 kids over 10 days. staff excellent, helpful, polite, sympathetic and always happy to help with a big smile. site was in great order. the shop and knowledge of the area first class. i cannot rate them higher enough. Downside The WIFI. we have been coming to this site for a good 8 years and worse than ever. paid £30 for the year and stood by the signal booster mask and its simply broken and not fit for purpose. great as kids had no gaming and i couldnt get work emails. but dont bother paying for it. CAMC you need to fix this to accommodate younger members and their families. you can go to starbucks and get it for free so to pay for broken wifi not good enough.

Fabulous Site

This was our 3rd visit to this site during August. Again we were not disappointed, friendly staff, clean site and great site in a great location. Perfect for families, couples etc. We went with daughter and grandson and we all had a great time. Pitch was perfect, lots of room around hardstanding. Lots to do around the area. The site is kept immaculate. Will definitely visit again.

Great Site

Just had our 2nd short stay since reopening. Site and Staff very good as we have come to expect over the years. We were not affected but disappointed to see many individuals ignoring safe use of facility blocks . Special rules for these times so simple but unfortunately some individuals just will not conform. Used our own facilities to keep away from the situations. Feel sorry for staff as no way can they be everywhere at once and anyway should not have to control this sort of blatant disregard.

Campsite

It appears that the CC has decided to branch out, changing several grass pitches from caravan use into tent use! This is a Caravan Club Site, not a campsite, if you want camping, there is the Camping and Caravan Club. I spoke to the warden who agreed, stating the club had already halved the dog walk area to accommodate tents. During these times of restrictions it increases demand on the toilet blocks to accommodate the campers.

Great, clean, spacious site

I've used this site a couple of times as it's close to my parents and my company's head office. Wardens are fantastic are very friendly, site is very spacious and the dog walking area is the best I've seen on any site. Great fun taking my young puppy over to socialise with other dogs. COVID safety precautions are great with each member having their own wristband. Definitely can't wait to go back.

Usually fabulous but noisy and a group exhibiting anti social behaviour

This is our local site and we visit often. However these past few days have been very noisy . All the children on the site were excited and well behaved. The kids were shouting and squealing with laughter , and it is to be expected in the summer holidays. The offensive noise came from drunken adults who were swearing loudly and partied until the early hours of the morning. The families had dogs with them who barked incessantly at times. (The owners ignored the barking) They had three caravans together . A couple in their late 70s told us that they were upset by their behaviours and fearful as a fight almost broke out. We arrived on the Saturday morning and apart from the early mornings, it was noisy and the noise escalated as the day went on. The females could be heard effing in front of their children during the day . We have always liked the fact that MCC members are respectful. We were quite shocked. I contacted reception to be told that it’s not the wardens jobs to police people. And they had not had any complaints, I explained that people may be fearful to complain . The warden explained that generally they ask members to speak to their neighbours, but the warden understood that this could be an issue. The warden said that the families could be evicted from the site if they witnessed anti social behaviours. I don’t know what time the wardens finish work, but if they walked around at 11pm at night , it wouldn’t take long for them to hear and witness anti social behaviours. I felt security was needed to manage this large group. It’s a shame numerous members had sleepless nights , and were subjected to witnessing appalling language and anti social behaviours The group were intimidating !! For the first time, we were very happy to leave

Another lovely stay

This has to be our favourite site and even in these unusual times it remains so. The wardens were friendly, helpful and polite. The site was well managed and maintained and all new protocols were explained. The dog field remains one of the best, lovely large open space, fenced in securely. The site was at capacity but still managed to feel calm and friendly. The walk to Wickham was an easy 35 mins stroll that the dog loved and you are able to walk to Hundred Acres woods within 10 mins. All in all not much to not like here, we’ll be back ASAP

Works well during unusual times

We had a brief weekend stay to visit family in the local area. The site is just as you would expect from the CAMC, clean and well laid out. The location is lovely. In woodland with the coast in easy driving distance. The main thing really is that the wardens are managing a large site during a very usual period. The pandemic requires us to do things very differently. I felt that the reception system and the system established for using the facilities was excellent. There was a little more waiting around which felt okay given that the wardens has sorted things out so that we could enjoy our time of the site pretty much as if this was a visit in less odd times. It felt a good example of a safe system. And the ice-cream sold at reception is excellent!

A very pleasant and peaceful stay.

This was our fourth venture out in our newly acquired caravan (new to caravan life this year). The site was easy to get to and the directions given by the club were spot on. Access was easy and the welcome was very friendly and Covid safe. There was plenty of choice of pitches and we chose a nicely maintained and convenient pitch near to all services. We liked the 5mph speed limit which is strictly monitored. The site was quiet (despite being full) and there is a lovely walk out of the campsite into Wickham (although Covid seems to have shut the village down at the moment). The site is well located for days out the Chichester, Portsmouth, Hayling Island etc and it meets all of the high standards that we have already experienced at Club sites. We would thoroughly recommend and may well return if we are in the area again.
