Beautiful & Peaceful Caravan Site

This is a really lovely caravan site, run by friendly wardens, in an absolutely stunning part of the country. The riverside walk through the edge of the site is amazing. The paths are mowed and picnic benches are hidden around every corner. The river tumbles gently over its stony banks - perfect. The site is well located to visit most of Northumberland. It is very close to Alnwick, a half hour drive to Seahouses and Cragside (NT). It took a little longer to get to Hadrian's Wall! We travelled as a family and there is certainly plenty of room to play and spread out, cycle etc. Our children wished the basketball net in the playing field was operational, rather than horizontal, but that is the only criticism. A big thank you to everyone who makes this site so great.

Peaceful as it gets

Thanks for a terrific site.  Everything spotless and up to CC expectations.  Particularly notable for the spacious pitches. We would recommend this site as a base for exploring Northumberland, our first visit and certainly not the last.   Coming from Devon, I was too nervous to try the 'Haggis & Chips' option (I'm not joking here) from the visiting chip van ..... opportunity missed !

Great site and lovely location

This is a lovely site, very quiet with a lovely nature walk by the river. The toilet block was spotless with lovely big shower cubicles. Our pitch was really nice and big but some of the full gravel pitches did look a bit car parky which we don't like, but this is my only negative point. Wardens friendly and the fish and chips from the mobile van were fab. The location is great too for the coast and the National park inland. Tended to be more of the older generation rather than lots of kids which is fine but my daughter did get a bit bored, a small playground out of the way would of been a bonus. Overall a great site and lovely location, but it is Northumberland so you don't expect anything less!

Perfect

This was our third stay and we regard this as a perfect site. It is located right at the edge of the National Park - the boundary is within walking distance. But even closer than that is the wildlife lake, and closer still are surprisingly long strolls by the river within the site boundary. The Northumberland coast isn't too far to drive and there are many local places of interest. The site itself is spacious with a choice of pitching areas and the toilet block is first rate and never crowded. Perfect site in perfect location.

Excellent in every respect

This was our first foray into touring. This site is everything we could wish for: An friendly welcome, large pitch, a quiet location, exceptionally clean facilities, loads of information about the surrounding area, a pub 20 minutes walk away and good fish & chips on Thursday evening. There's a shop at the end of the road and a local bus service as well.

Lovely site

We are currently staying at River Breamish and can say it is a lovely site with loads of wild life. The geese flying over the site making a wonderful sound early in the morning and then again in the evening is great. One thing we would like to see is parents encouraging their children to ride their bikes and scooters in the same direction as the traffic on the site.  As seems to be the norm on most sites we've visited drivers seem completely unable to abide by the 5mph rule on site, whether this is ignorance or bloody mindedness I don't know but non of us can assume that little children out and about on their bikes are fully aware of the dangers of cars/motor homes etc. and the last thing we would like to see is anyone hurt. As I've said this is a recurring problem on all sites and I know the wardens try very hard to address this problem but maybe it's come time for people to be asked to leave if they can't abide by this simple rule. It's not much to ask!

Peaceful overnight stop

This was an overnight stop on our way home from a holiday in Scotland. We had stayed here before for longer. The site is in a very secluded location. It is a mature site and is very well maintained by the wardens. The welcome was friendly. Pitches are generous in size and the general feel was one of peace and tranquillity. There is a nature walk around the land adjacent to the site. We were there on a Thursday when a Fish and Chip van calls. Site and Fish and Chips are highly recommended.

One of our favourite sites

We come to River Breamish every year as it is convenient for walking in the Cheviots. We love this site. There are new wardens this year but they are maintaining the high standards and the toilet/shower block is immaculate. There is a very good shop at the local petrol station which sells a good selection of frozen "home cooked" style meals. Alnwick is half an hour away for Sainsbury's, Morrisons etc. The fish and chip van on a Monday is very popular and well worth queuing for. The RAF seems to practice low flying overhead very frequently but this did not cause us any problems. Also, as it is sited on a lovely nature reserve there is a lot of wildlife, including flocks of geese who honk noisily in the early hours of the morning. We mainly explore the local countryside inland but the coast with excellent beaches is not far away. We usually travel further afield to near Berwick on Tweed to eat out at a fantastic pub called the Plough at Allerdean and can also recommend the Tankerville Arms at Eglingham. Unusually for a CC site there is a small tent area on this site which proved useful when our daughter came to stay for a few days. We love the peace and quiet and location of River Breamish and will definitely be back.

Excellent as usual

Return trip to this site and once again impeccably maintained with a great shower block and friendly wardens. Well laid out, spacious and quiet. The local pub (The Plough, 20min walk) serves epic food portions and they're very friendly but for me its become a bit "quantity over quality". If you want to leave the car behind you can get the 473 bus from outside the pub into Alnwick in about 25mins. The local garage has a Londis store so if you forget anything you can get most things in there.

Great site

We had heard reviews about this site before we even got here from people we were talking to on our previous campsite and we were not dissapointed. quiet, friendly and wow what a shower block, one of the best ive seen on a campsite yet. the people staying here seemed to be so friendly and often took time out just to stand and chat, the site sort of puts you in the mood to just chill. There is a pub about a mile away and the food there was great, there's also a shop at the garage which is very well stocked. We had a great time and met some lovely folk.
