Half Term Break

First time on this site and we were not disappointed. The facilities were excellent, with good walks for dogs straight from the site. Easy access to Historic Alnwick and the Northumberland coast. We will visit again soon.

Northumberland Gem

What a great find this site was for an autumn break. Easy access to nearby towns, shopping and attractions. Great walks from site, particularly good nature reserve attached to site with nature trail, good interpretation and bird hide on pond. Lots to see and do for all ages in a beautiful part of the countryside.

Wonderful stay

We arrived at River Breamish for one week and stayed for three. A fantastic site, brilliant for dogs, wonderful walking in the hills from the site, and a lot of entertainment from the wildlife on the neighbouring lakes. Very easy to travel to the coast to the wonderful beaches, nowhere is very far away and when you are used to the busy roads in the South, driving around Northumberland is a complete joy! The site is immaculate, Richard and Karen are delightful and their sole purpose is to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves and be as helpful as possible to make your holiday an absoloute delight. Don't tell everyone or we won't be able to book in if it is too popular!!!

1st time here and so pleased we went.

Karen saw to us at reception and really welcoming, got a choice of a few pitches. Ideas given if we wanted to go anywhere. We were there just for a break and not to go out. Warned about adders, never seem any but did hear a few rustling sounds. Showers were brill the curtain kept the water of my clothes and the cubicle was quite big. A large building with all you need. Other people when encountered very friendly. Felt really safe there. So thank you Karen.

Excellent site

Lovely quiet sure with excellent wardens. Lovely large flat hardstanding pitches. Needed to use a 25m tv lead to reach power/tv post. Great for visiting the area. Was surprised how full it was at the beginning of October. Definitely one to book ahead.

Inconsiderate drivers

This is a lovely site extremely peaceful, unfortunately spoiled by drivers of motorhomes and ones towing caravans who totally ignore the speed limit. This isn't the only site I have found this problem and I feel it needs dealt with before there is an accident and I'm sorry to say most of the ones ignoring the rules are the elderly who seem to think the rules are not made for them. Anyway rant over getting back to the site lovely in everyway setting ,facilities and staff. Good fish and chips van on Thursday another on a Monday but didn't try these. ideally situated for the Northumberland coast and castles will definitely return.

Peace and Tranquility

Although I have spent time in the area, but mainly towards the coast this was the first time we have stopped in Powburn. The site is a gem, nestled at the foot of the Cheviots. Walking from the site is excellent the only downside being that on two occasions we encountered cattle whilst we were on public footpaths with our dog. I am not complaining as that where cattle graze. I mention this as a warning to dog owners who do not like to pass cattle with a dog. The nature reserve next door to the site is well worth a visit. The site is pristine, the whole area including the toilet block are kept spotless. The pitches (H/S) were large and level. The shop is well stocked for minor requirements. The shop and post office located at the service station half a mile away is more like a mini supermarket but a bit on the pricey side. There is also a tea room located behind the service station (not used). A site that will be on the ist for a re visit.

A gen of a site - as long as you want peace and quiet

Stopped here for 5 nights on way back from a week in York. Hidden well away from the main road this site at night is staggeringly quiet and dark - more on this later. Wardens - excellent, knowledgeable and welcoming. Sites - plenty of space and well tended For us ideal but no real playpark for kids - loved this after York!! Dark - at night very - so if you love the stars this is ideal Well situated for all the local towns and villages and the Glendale show was a bonus! Dog walk is excellent, expect some nice from dogs - they do bark occasionally(yes we have one) Chip van - what is it with English chips they are all a bit limp - other than that I don't like getting ripped off seeing a pile of large fish which the locals get and "the rest" Excellent site we will visit again
