Absolutely stunning and peaceful

Just left this site after our second stay. We have booked again for next year. The site is immaculate facilities are clean and well maintained the staff are excellent the wardens are welcoming friendly and can’t do enough for you. The site is really well kept neat tidy grass hedges are regularly cut. I think all the members of staff here deserve a huge thank you, you all work so hard to keep this site looking beautiful well done. Fish and chip van is here Tuesday and Saturday 7-8 and the food is brilliant. On a evening it’s so peaceful and relaxing to sit out side and listen to absolutely nothing apart from the odd owl. This really is our favourite site with plenty to do near by local pubs just down the Lane. Paignton Torquay Dartmouth being short drives. If you have dogs like we do there is a huge dog walking field the Lane at the top of the site is also a great short heading towards stoke Gabriel FC. There is also the little nature reserve area behind reception for a short walk with a bench at the top overlooking the site and stunning Devon countryside. Thank you so much for a brilliant and wonderful stay we have really enjoyed our much needed 8 nights break at ramslade and can’t wait to come back next year. See you soon guys.

Disappointed part 2!

Had to review this again to actually show the star rating I actually gave and not what is showing! I did give a 3 star overall rating yet it shows a 5 star? I have now marked it all down to see what really works? Refer this to the above review left from Paul.

Disappointed

Came here for the week to tour the surrounding area. The site itself states 12 noon is the allowable time on site. We found that actually you could get on site earlier! Now if the rules are to be kept...surely the time on and off should be adhered to ? Obviously not? Found the hand sanitizers to be empty around the site? Now I know that these guys have a job and sometimes it can be a pain to them..however....personally I believe that our safety should be paramount and if they are not completing their tasks correctly, what chances do we all have? I have two little dogs....considering the size of the site and the amount dog /dog owners that were on site....only one dog bin available! We were told to put the dog waste in the black bins...We don’t even do that at home!! The road in to the site...(we came here after 12pm on the 2nd of July) was a nightmare! Now I pull a little car being a motorhome owner...it must be a real pain to the caravan owners when it’s busy? People were leaving after 12 which meant you met up with folks leaving when they should have gone earlier making the road in again...a right pain! Just been told off for having the last meter on my 240v hook up cable ...on its roll? Told me that it could cause a fire! I tried to explain that my truck was actually safe but was told categorically it was not! I tried to explain the system on board my truck and just how safe it was even with that last meter on the roll...all I got was the rolling eyes from her and the look of .....I don’t care! Will we come here again?................seriously...........NO! Shame that the club seems to be in this situation and that wardens (Not all) seem to think that they are better than us when really ... they are just shop keepers/ cleaners doing a job! Now I’m Sorry if it offends but....why offend me when you really don’t consider me as a person worthy of knowing? Obviously want my money, but nothing else...hey oh...life moves on? Regards Paul

Perfect pitch!

Ramslade is a lovely site with spotless facilities and split over two sides. Big dog walk and a children’s playground but still being able to find quieter pitches away from it all. Very central for visiting Brixham, Torquay, Paignton, Dartmouth to name but a few! If like us travelling with the fur family then dog friendly beaches are a must and a big one at Goodrington to spend the day on! Cockington is beautiful with lots of walks around a chocolate box little village. Would definitely recommend this site, a favourite of ours!

Blooomin’ Excellent

This was our first stay at the Ramslade site and we’re glad we made the effort. Firstly, believe the information in the the site book and on the last leg of your arrival IGNOR your Sat Nav and follow the written word in the book. Even doing that your last leg takes you along a mixed single track and opposing single carriageway section of road with a true 90 degree bend which requires caution as some drivers think they’re the only ones on the road. Arriving and booking in was painless with the COVID restrictions. One thing is for definite, happy staff equals happy campers. We had a serviced pitch, which was level. The facilities blocks were maintained to a very high standard as was the site in general. And to top it all, we had brilliant neighbours around us. What a difference that makes. There are plenty of things to keep you entertained, whether that is walking at Berry Head, taking a trip on the steam railway and paddle cruiser from Paignton, taking a tour at Kent’s Caverns etc. you should not be bored. The downside is having to check if you need to pre-book and doing so if required - you can’t just rock up for some features but don’t let that put you off in any way shape or form. Stoke Gabriel village is a short walk along the road but in some places you end up walking on the grass verge or road. And in this village there are again some narrow roads if you are driving. There are two pubs in the village and we had Sunday lunch at The Castle - good food, good value and good service. Would we recommend the site - you bet we would. Thanks Ramslade.

Great for canoeing

Lovely quiet site with friendly staff. We enjoyed the local walk through the woods to Stoke Gabriel. We took our canoe and enjoyed some very pleasant paddles up and down the river Dart. We were able to park near the launch area at Stoke Gabriel for £5 for the day. There are two pubs in the village. We only visited "The Castle" which had plenty of outside seating. The church with an ancient yew tree in the grounds is well worth a visit.

Staff lovely

We stayed here for a week. Unfortunately due to covid we didn't feel comfortable travelling by buses as we have in the past, they were very busy as was Paignton. Parking in Paignton and Torquay are not great for motor homes unless you want an early start! So as a result we walked everywhere which was good exercise but very hard going in the heat with a child in toe. We can recommend the London Fryer and avoid The Castle Inn Hotel, we ordered a takeaway which was delivered by a very helpful and friendly member of staff however, although the burger was lovely the chips weren't cooked and the pizzas were like cardboard, had we have been eating in we would have returned the meal and gone elsewhere. We don't normally waste food but it had to go in the bin so that was £20 down the drain. The chip van on site although more expensive than London Fryer was very nice food and convenient especially as it is on a Saturday and Tuesday night so if you travel on either of these days don't bother cooking. For those mentioning mobile signal the site uses O2 and we found that Vodafone worked very well, so if like us you find youself wanting takeaways it's very handy to have one that works. The wifi was very hit and miss you have to stay up until the early hours to use it really. DON'T DOWNLOAD ANYTHING THAT IS NOT WHAT IT IS THERE FOR. All in all a great site and covid permitting us to feel able to use the transport we will be back.
