A pleasant surprise

Our car threw a tantrum en route to hear but met with a warm friendly welcome. Booking in was swift and easy and took only a few mins. What surprised us was the freedom to choose from hard standing or grass pitches the choice was ours for no extra cost. We were club site virgins never used them before. With the weather due to turn against us again I asked where the best sheltered pitches were which were down behind reception but to choose for ourselves. We parked up and had a quick walk around and decided where to pitch. There was plenty or room to reverse on to the pitch with just a short use of the motor mover to adjust the caravan. The hard standing pitches were lovely and flat so no adjustment required to get level. The only minor issue we found was the electric hook up where you insert the lead then a slight twist to engage it for the electric. Water points and waste disposal close by bins were emptied daily with some for normal waste and others for recycling. People mention the narrow points on the road leading to the site and maybe our timing was ok and we never experienced any problems in passing anyone. Dont let this put you off visiting here its not as bad as you may think check out google maps ( or other sites). Toilet and shower blocks cleaned twice a day and always clean in between. My only suggestion would be to have more bands to suit the size of your booking with 4 females among us and only 2 bands we would have to wait for the others to return before using the facilities our van doesnt have a decent shower area. Sadly the games area is shut for obvious reasons so my daughter and niece and other children around maybe missed out on a chance to socialise. To sum this up we felt relaxed and happy like we have been on holiday.

Great site, ideal for South Devon

Stayed here just before the Bank Holiday, its a great site well located for visiting the English Riviera and the associated attractions. The site was immaculate and well laid out with some pitches on grass and terracing plus a wide choice of hard standing and service pitches. Only used the facilities once as we prefer to use our own in the caravan especially as there is currently limited access - they were spotlessly clean. The approach road has a few narrow stretches but is generally ok if you proceed carefully. The walk to Stoke Gabriel is ok - the path on the roadside is a bit rough and there were some stretches where you had to walk on the road where there was no path - not ideal if you have dogs like us (or kids) Would definitely visit here again

Ideal for a peaceful break

This was our first visit to Ramslade and we loved it, Staff very welcoming and explained all about safety measures in place for Covid-19, Clean Site, Good Sized Pitch and a great Dog walking area too, quite simply perfect...................now for the negatives of which are not down to the site staff at all, sadly a few members did not abide by the band system in place making it quite frustrating and worrying for those wanting to keep safe, Ladies I am appalled by the state you have left some of the toilets in do you really leave yours at home like this....such a shame As always there were again the odd dog walker who just decided not to pick up, why? it just makes it harder for the rest of us, please just be kind and considerate after all we are all in this together Thank you Ramslade these niggles are sadly out of your control, you can only do you best and you certainly did, we will be back

Good site with Poor Access

Site clean and well maintained. Slightly annoying was the daily long periods of time that the grass was being cut. This became quite noisy and annoying if you want a quiet site. The main problem with this site is the VERY POOR ROAD ACCESS . It took us almost 20 minutes to get to the main road from the site due to volume of traffic and limited passing places. Not the fault of site staff but a problem before you arrive and after you leave.

Fab Family Break

Spent 7 days at Ramslade with our 10 year old Son. Great site for kids in a good, central location. Approach road to site is narrow. Check in was slick & wardens friendly but not overbearing. Pitches well laid out & spacious although some very sloping. Good ball field & small play area. Games room obviously closed at present. Stoke Gabriel beautiful. A wonderful downhill cycle there & a challenging cycle back! The surrounding towns are busy. Social distancing appears to not be a thing in these busier towns!! Have change ready for public toilets whilst out & about - they cost 30p & some do take contactless payment too. Crabbing at Brixham always a hit with kids...& grown men ;-) 3rd or 4th time to this site & we would recommend & return.

Lovely site well worth a visit

Spent a week here and loved it. Spotlessly clean facilities. Pitches are spacious as always. Shop was limited in stocks but that’s to be expected with current covid situation and it has essential supplies such as toilet liquids and gas etc. We had a super pitch on the lower level of the site and there’s an upper section with sloping pitches. The dog running field is brilliant. Site well kept and maintained. Stoke Gabriel is a 20 minute walk slightly downhill. Great for kayaking as right on the river. Parking by the river is £5 a day. Two lovely pubs in the village serving great food. One riverside restaurant with a lovely menu, had lunch there one day and a pizza one evening. Definitely worth a visit. One shop in the village selling all essentials and Morrison’s and other major supermarkets are only a 5 minute drive away. For a day out avoid Paignton unless Blackpool is your kind of place. Brixham however is a lovely quaint place and ideal for a day out. All in all a great place to visit.

Back at Ramslade after Lockdown

Arrived on 14/07/2020 for a week, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, this site is lovely and well kept the wardens are all so helpful. I think the new book arrangement of them calling you to book your pitch and take payment is great, it means you arrive and drive straight onto your pitch which if you have been to the site before is easy as you know where everything is. We have booked to return for a week in September as we enjoy the peace and quiet of this site.

First Visit after lockdown

This was our first visit and the wardens had put in place extremely safe measures so that we could enjoy our stay safely reducing the risk of spreading or catching Covid 19. The showers and toilet blocks were open but with reduced facilities ie 5 showers down to 3 in each block. We were all given a band and you were to place this on a peg outside the showers so people would know how many were using them as only 3 allowed at a time. My annoyance was that people abused this and left their bands to reserve the showers which led to queues and tempers at time being tested. This let the experience down and I think the wardens need to monitor this a little more. Also we were not told what pitches were available as on other sites and we were left driving round a bit to find a space. Overall good but could be better.
